Bishop Rhoades will be joined by priests from local parishes as we pray together. Representatives from each school will have a specific role in a procession, reader, server, or Eucharistic Minister. Parents are invited to attend. All students in grades 3-8 were given a permission slip last week which needs a parent’s signature. We have made arrangements to use FWCS buses to transport the students and HASA will be funding this for us. Students will leave school by bus approximately 9:15-9:30. Lunch and recess will follow their return to school. All are asked to wear red uniform shirts/fleece/sweatshirts on this day with the uniform slacks/skirts (no shorts please). Grade 4 students will be wearing their costume/garb of their favorite saint and have special seating in the arena. Parents are welcome to attend. Parking at the Coliseum is free. St. Charles’ students have seats assigned in sections 207 & 209 and upper section 205. There may be a few extra seats in these areas. Otherwise, there is seating available in section 200. All students attending are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Community Harvest Food Bank. There will be collection containers at the entrances to the Coliseum for all the student collections on that day.

FOOD COLLECTION All students attending the Mass at the Memorial Coliseum on Wednesday, October 29, are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation with them. In conjunction with this Mass, St. Charles Borromeo School is holding a food collection. Students in grades 3-8 will carry their own food with them to the Coliseum. The “Buddy” classes for grades K-1-2 will also carry the food these students bring. The MOST WANTED listed from Community Harvest Food Bank includes: canned fruits and vegetables, pasta or noodles, canned tuna, peanut butter, canned soups, hamburger or tuna helpers, juice, macaroni & cheese, cereal (boxed), rice, boxed potatoes, and personal care items. Thank you for your generosity!! ATTENTION PARENTS!!!!!!! Our SCHOLASTIC ONLINE BOOKFAIR will continue through November 4th!!!!!! Please take advantage of the outstanding prices to order items that you may have forgotten to buy at the school book fair or to order Christmas gifts for your children, spouses, grandchildren, grandparents, neighbors, friends, etc.! The books that you order online will be delivered in bags to your children’s classrooms, unless you let me know that you prefer the books delivered to your hands and not to your children’s! Come Trick-or-Treating! - Be sure to place an order this Friday - everyone who places an order of $100 or more this Friday will receive a trick-or-treat bag. Each bag will contain an edible treat then some have a "trick" while others will have a "SCRIP treat." You have to place an order to win. A Month of Thanks - November is the month when we celebrate Thanksgiving. SCRIP will join that tradition with two great "Thank You" promotions. Anyone who places an order Nov. 1 - 24 of $100 or more is automatically entered into our drawing for a new snow

blower! If the Farmer's Almanac is correct, it will be a great prize. The second giveaway is for our Kroger customers. Anyone who reloads your Kroger card between the dates of Nov. 2 - 29, will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $250 SCRIP gift certificate - just in time for holiday shopping! YOU are the reason the St. Charles SCRIP program is so successful and this is our way of saying, "Thanks!" SCRIP Tip - Our list of participating merchants is always changing - some are added, some are dropped and sometimes it's simply a change in the denominations that are available. We update the order forms with each change, therefore it is important that you try to use a current order form when placing an order. If you look in the bottom right hand corner on the back of the order form, you will see a date. If that date is older than one month, we suggest that you check to see if certain items are available before you write your check. Often around the holidays, merchants offer their gift cards in smaller denominations. We try to take advantage of those products for as long as possible, but can't guarantee how long we will offer the items. CHRIST CHILD SOCIETY COATS FOR KIDS PROGRAM The Christ Child Society will again be distributing new winter coats to school age children (grades K to 8) who are in need of outerwear and are directly referred to their program by their school. Coats will be available in children’s size 5 through XL. Maximum of three coats per family. Parent or guardian must present a photo identification for himself/herself and identification for each referred child at the coat distribution site located at the Rudisill Plaza Building. Distribution will be held on Wednesdays, October 1st, October 8th, October 15th, October 22nd and October 29th. Doors open at 8:30am, closing at 12 noon. DON’T BE THE ONLY ONE ON YOUR BLOCK LEFT OUT OF THE CLUB! JOIN TODAY!! Dear Parents and Friends of St. Charles, Hello! The St. Charles HASA (Home And School Association) would like to thank you for all that you have done, and continue to do, in support of our Parish School. We write today to inform you of our 12th annual offer to join the HASA 300 CLUB. This is a fun opportunity for you to personally win money, benefit our parish and parish school, and help raise thousands of dollars in tuition aid for our school families in need. On the back of this letter, we have listed our 2013-2014 HASA 300 CLUB winners to date. We still have a few more winners to choose in the 2013-2014 cycle, so please keep checking the bulletin if entered. This past year, which was our eleventh for the club, we sold 216 chances out of 300. After payouts and printing expenses, we used our proceeds in two ways: 1) We updated our wireless access points throughout the school building. This was necessary, as we may have as many as 300+ wireless devices using our network at once. We now have over 350 IPads assigned throughout the building in addition to 64 wireless laptop computers on charging carts. 2) We made a $1,000 gift each to the St. Charles Holy Name Society and the St. Charles Rosary Sodality. So thank you for your help! As you can see, the proceeds produce positive results so let us explain how you can join this year’s 2014-15 HASA 300 CLUB. (There are only 300 chances available, no more. Thus the name - HASA 300.) For $100.00 a chance, any number of chances can be purchased on a first-come-first-served basis. This could accumulate a total income of $30,000.00 (and we always hope for a sellout). ◊ Each week a name is drawn from the ‘hat’ for a weekly amount of $150.00. Times fifty-two: The payout would be $7,800.00 for the year. ◊ Two special drawings are made in the course of the year: One at Easter and one at Christmas. Each of these special drawings pays $500.00. Times two: The payout would be $1,000.00. ◊ Each winning ticket stays in the ‘hat’ for the entire year, so you could win once, twice, etc. ◊ Weekly winners will be listed in the parish bulletin beginning the weekend of Sunday, Nov. 6th. The above payouts of $8,800.00 are subtracted from the total income - a maximum of $30,000 if all chances are sold. The remaining profit after payouts will be divided two ways. Proceeds may be used to assist with parish tuition assistance, the needs of parish ministries, and other needed school/parish programs and projects. That’s how it works! So here’s what to do: Get out a pen, checkbook, and envelope, and write a check to “HASA 300 CLUB” for as many chances as you would want times $100.00, then mail it to the parish or drop it in the church collection basket marked “HASA 300 CLUB”. Invite a friend or neighbor to do the same. The first weekly drawing for 2014-2015 will be October 27th, so don’t delay and you won’t miss out on even one chance. Remember, you have 54 chances to win (52 weeks plus the special drawings). Please give it a try. There are no losers as all profits benefit parishioners in large and small ways. The 2014-15 HASA 300 CLUB proceeds will be used in two ways: 1) Tuition assistance, and; 2) Saving for the purchase of a new school-wide intercom system.
