Taught in Asia since 1982, SACE International is widely regarded as Australia’s leading pre-university program.

SACE International promotes both academic excellence and the development of the capabilities needed to be successful university students, enterprising workers, and global citizens.

Thousands of SACE International graduates have gone on to complete their university education around the world,

establishing successful careers in fi elds such as commerce, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, arts, and law.

SACE International is the offi cial senior secondary qualifi cation of the Government of South Australia. It is administered by the SACE Board of South Australia.

Graduates are awarded the South Australian Certifi cate of Education (SACE) by the SACE Board of South Australia.

SACE International is a world-class pre-university program that prepares students for successful study in the world’s top universities.

World-class learning

SACE International is a 2-year program typically studied in the fi nal 2 years of schooling.

Students complete a minimum of 200 credits, where 20 credits is the equivalent of a full year of study in a subject.

Colleges can offer SACE International in a number of ways to suit their students’ circumstances and aspirations. Typically, colleges offer programs that allow their students to complete:

100 to 120 credits (fi ve or six subjects) in the fi rst year (Stage 1), and

90 to 100 credits (fi ve subjects) in thesecond year (Stage 2).

There are opportunities for students to gain substantial status for the study they may have undertaken in the fi nal years of schooling in their own country.

Where students have gained status for prior study, they can complete SACE International over 18 months, or even 1 year.

Choice in subjectsThe subjects offered in the SACE International program provide excellent preparation for a variety of careers, including health sciences (medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy), sciences (engineering and information technology), business (commerce), arts (architecture, design, and performing arts), and law.

SACE International is typically studied over2 years. In each year of study, students choose the equivalent of fi ve year-long subjects from over 60 available subjects, including: English as an Additional Language English Communications Accounting Biology Business and Enterprise Chemistry Design and Technology Economics Information Technology Legal Studies Malay Background Speakers Mathematical Methods Modern History Music Nutrition Physics Psychology Research Project Specialist Mathematics Visual Arts.

grades for each of these subjects provides the basis for the calculation of the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) — a ranking used by universities around the world to assist them in selecting students into courses.Students’ fi nal grades for each subject are calculated from school assessments (70%) and external assessments (30%). This allows students to build on their knowledge and skills throughout the year, accumulating marks towards their fi nal score as they study.
