Shot 1

This shot is used to show the setting of the film. It is also used to show why he is out walking you can tell that he is out walking his dog in the early evening. This shot is important to show the audience why he is out, why he is alone and what he is reason is for being out in the early evening.

Page 3: Rough cut analysis

Shot 2 This shot is used to show how alone/isolated the woods is. In this shot you can clearly see that he is the only one that is around. The shot has been taken as if there is someone in the field watching him it is used to make the audience feel on edge whether someone is watching him or not.

Shot 3This shot is used too show that there is someone watching him from inside the forest. It is used to make the audience feel on edge and whether something is going to happen to the boy.

Shot 4The close up shot of the shoes is giving the audience an idea that something could happen with the shoes later on in the film. The shoe is seen later on in the woods and as you have seen the close up of the shoe here you know that it is his shoe.

This long range shot maintains the continuity of his walking whilst showing how isolated the surrounding are. It also makes him appear vulnerable and innocent.

Shot 6This shot is showing that he has seen or heard something in the woods and is curious too see what is in the there it also shows that he is naïve and hasn’t thought about the dangers and consequences

Shot 7We have used the trees to show the passing of time. We used pathetic fallacy to reflect the atmosphere and tension in the scene. By not showing what is happening in the woods it creates a mysterious atmosphere.

Shot 8This shot is showing the dog running out of the woods alone which implies that his owner has let go of the lead and is in danger.

Shot 9This is a zoomed shot of the shoe we previously saw in shot 4. It shows the boy was trying to get away and was obviously in a hurry or struggle.
