Updating Title Sequence Credits
Rough Cut 2 Analysis: Credits
Omar Marah
Rough Cut 1: Credits
In the original title sequence the credits shown on screen were
very poorly done.
As you can see, there is a complete neglect in the appropriate
crediting of roles such as director, actors, photography etc.
This is very crucial in our title sequence as it follows the
generic codes of film in the media industry as well as provides the
viewers with information they may need. In addition the typography
is not very visually appealing, the colour is not very visible and
does not attract viewers. The font used is also very atrocious and
looks odd, it does not compliment the tone of our film.
Rough cut 2: Font and change
After the first initial rough-cut, we decided that the whole
title sequences credits needed to be re done. We decided to
introduce all appropriate roles and credits to our sequence such as
directing, actors, photography, music by etc.
-We wanted to introduce new credits that seemed dramatic whilst
being simplistic.
-However, after reviewing the titles and getting feedback from our
audiences, we realised that the titles need to be re-vamped yet
again. One crucial reason is the fact the way the credits are
positioned really distract the audience making it hard to
read.
-The typography again, does not compliment the visuals shown on
screen. The font is very generic, and seems overall boring and
dull. Despite us all deciding that we wanted simple typography, we
wanted to ensure that the text would both stand out and fit the
theme of our film being a psychological thriller.
-This is all due to the lack of communication as a group and the
time we had to our titles as we had to rush them in.
Rough cut 2: Special Effects
After reviewing our first title sequence,
we decided that we wanted to add an effect that
would compliment the credits making them seem
scary and look more interesting. We went into adobe
after effects and created new credits and used the
animation jiggy. The problem with this title is the fact that
it is very hard to read due to the shaking effect and the
blur.
We decided that it would be better to remove the effect as a
whole so that the audience can read the titles properly and
possibly decide on a foggy effect or a fade in.

Conclusion
In conclusion it is apparent that the lots more work on the credits is needed. We need to work on the order of the titles as many of them were placed in the wrong places. In addition, we need to change the typography as a whole.
