1 NEWSLETTER GOVERNMENT COLLEGE(AUTONOMOUS), BHAWANIPATNA Vol-IV, Issue 01, 02, 03: January-June’2017 Principal’s Voice By publishing Vol-IV, Issue 1, 2 and ,3 of the Newsletter a remarkable and ever welcomed programme of UGC through IQAC, I truly exercised my privilege and opportunity which in turn given me endless pleasure. I have been simply trying to implement the plans, projects and suggestions of the scholars and the academicians of nation to rejuvenate curricular activities of educational institution which seems to be deteriorated day by day. I, with the help and cooperation of my esteemed colleagues trying to activate all the curricular and extra-curricular activities of my institution by assuring its transparency through the publication of Newsletter a praiseworthy programme of UGC. In the contemporary world all the states are essentially cooperative and welfare states, trying their best to provide the best possible services and facilities to all particularly to the youth to support themselves. So, the quality of education has to be assured to well equip the youth to meet the demand of the day. I am extremely thankful to UGC for launching and extending this programme to promote potentiality among the youth, who can cope with other and be able to reach their own destination. So this programme entirely dedicated for betterment of all in the era of good governance. In the process of maintaining internal quality assurance, I observed my colleagues are entirely involved. They have been working dedicatedly in this process and devoting their time, energy and mind whole heartedly in imparting quality education and taking pains in developing infrastructure as well as other academic related activities. So I am thankful to all my colleagues. AUTONOMOUS EXAMMINATION CELL

Conducted Internal Examinations of various classes.

Conducted Term End Examinations of UG and PG classes.

Published results of UG Sem-II, Sem-VI, PG Sem-IV classes.

Conducting Board meeting was held.

Conducted various Entrance Examinations like OJEE, SAAT, CU Entrance Test

Notified for form fill up of Back/Improvement/ Subsequent Exam-2016.

Conducted Annual Examination for B.Ed. 1st year students.

Conducted M.Phil Examination.

HEALTH AND SANITATION

Swachha Bharat Abhijan was conducted in the college premises. Boarders of different hostels actively participated in the said drive.

Monitoring activities are continuously taken to maintain the drinking water and toilet facilities.

A blood donation camp was organized.

INFRASTRUCTURE Construction of Dispensary Hall and Career Counselling Hall is completed..

Development activities of botanical garden progressed further.

Steps taken for beatification of the college.

College main gate and Entrance Gate renovated.

Constructed rest shed in front of SAMS Lab. for parents and students.

DEPT. OF ANTHROPOLOGY

Conducted classes regularly.

Different seminars were conducted.

Parents-teacher meeting was organized.

Celebrated Sarawwati Puja in the department.

DEPT. OF BOTANY

Massive plantation programme was organized by the students in the college premises.

Field study programme was organized.

Celebrated Sarawwati Puja in the department.

Organised departmental seminar.

Organised parents-teachers meeting.

Organised farewell ceremony for final year students.

Some online test on biology was conducted in the department.

DEPT. OF B.Ed. Conducted classes regularly.

Conducted practice teaching classes at different high schools.

Celebrated Saraswati Puja.

Celebrated Annual Function of the Department.

DEPT.OF CHEMISTRY

Departmental seminars were organized on every working Friday and Saturday.

Students Council meeting of Chemistry was organized regarding their study

atmosphere.

Departmental wall magazine “Photon” and Modern Periodic Table

inaugurated.

New departmental time table was constructed.

Study tour to Berhampur was organized.

Students and staff of the department participated in the International

Conference in Chemistry at Berhampur University.

Industrial visit to Vedanta Alumina was made.

Teaching staff members participated in the International Seminar organized

by the Department of Chemistry.

DEPT. OF COMMERCE Conducted different departmental seminars. Students and staff participated in the seminar.

Celebrated Saraswati Puja.

Conducted remedial classes for slow learners.

Various competitions were organized by the department.

Field study was organized.

Seminar on GST was organized.

DEPT. OF ECONOMICS Departmental seminars were conducted on various topics such. UG and PG Students presented papers in this seminar.

Awareness programme for cashless economy was organized.

Farewell ceremony for final year students was organized

Unit test were conducted for PG students and UG students.

Celebrated Saraswati Puja.

Organised parents-teachers meeting.

Conducted remedial classes.

Various competitions were organized by the department.

DEPT. OF ENGLISH Conducted various departmental seminars by selecting topics from course

syllabus of UG and PG classes.

Organised parents-teachers meeting.

Conducted class tests of UG and PG classes regularly.

The pupil teachers of PG classes took eight classes of +3 students.

Our three ex-students got success in the Staff Selection Board, Odisha and

appointed as Lecturer in English at various degree colleges.

Celebrated the Ganesh Puja in our department.

DEPT. OF EDUCATION The department observed welcome ceremony of new comers.

DEPT. OF HISTORY

One picnic was organized at Chatikana of Rayagada district.

A study tour programme was organized at Kharligarh, Belkhandi and Amath archaeological site of Kalahandi district.

Different seminars were conducted for U.G. and P.G. students.

Survey training to M.Phil students was provided at Asurgarh, Narla.

Head of the Department of History Dr. B. Mishra with the help of M.phil Students and Faculties of the department conducted the archaeological excavation at Buddhiganh located on the left Bank of the Rahul river of M.Rampur Block.

Class test were conducted.

Organised the prestigious Manikeswari Series of Lectures.

the their learning.

A departmental picnic was held at Ravandaro, Bhawanipatna with the wholehearter participation of all teaching staff and students of the UG and PG classes.

Conducted a field study at a tribal village named Kurli of Rayagada district for PG final year students.

Interview for engagement of Guest Faculty was conducted.

Feedback from the students were collected regarding effective engagement of classes.
