Chad’s paper was next period and required a works cited page. He knew he used a green book about trees, but couldn’t find it in in the library. He decided to just cite a book that looked similar.
Is it Plagiarism?
Pepper was putting together an Infographic on food poisoning. She found a really cool chart that described the most commonly contaminated foods. She cut and pasted the chart into her work but did not include information about where the chart came from
Is it Plagiarism?
• Tiki was researching the battle of Bunker Hill and had to turn in a one page summary of the battle for ss. She found a really good web page by the National Park Service. She cut and pasted a quote from the site and included a note as to where the quote came from.
Is it Plagiarism?
Also considered plagiarism…• Turning in someone else’s paper for a class• Turning in a paper from another class• Cutting and pasting an exact quote without citing a source• Using words or passages you don’t understand and can’t
explain• Paraphrasing from a source but not citing the source• Making up a source or citation information• Using photo, video or audio excerpts without citing source• Using statistics, charts, graphs, figures without citing source
• Exact wording, quote• Paraphrase• Statistics, tables, charts, pictures, etc.• Ideas that are not your own
What do I cite?
If you use a phrase that is too similar to the original passage, even if you did not intend, it is still plagiarism.
But I didn’t know!!!!
