Outstanding FeesWe hate having to chase up late fees!

We have a new gate!Keeping our little dancers safe

BlogVisit our

Dance Pulse Blog

Last year PSD launched our very own blog...with

reflections and dance tips from Miss Melanie,

and the occasional guest blogger along the way.

For all the latest, come and visit our blog Dance Pulse on our website at www.peninsuladance.

com.au and head to the Dance Pulse blog

page which celebrates dance and Miss Melanie’s business journey, as well as helping those new to dancing navigate their

way through starting out in dance.

Check us out and leave a comment.

Lost Property

PLEASE clearly name all items of clothing, especially crossovers, PSD Jackets and

warmup tops.

Please check your child’s bag before you leave

to make sure they have everything they came with!

We hate having to chase up late fees, we’d rather be spending time teaching your children to dance. We understand that families watch every dollar and that costs at the beginning of term can hit your wallet hard. We understand this because we are also a family.

Our business is a small business, and we juggle bills and financial commitments just like our customers. We also need to pay our hard working staff. Please, please don’t leave PSD last on your bill paying list. We would hate to have to make the decision that your child could not continue their dance journey with us, and making you feel uncomfortable about our hounding.

If you can’t pay your bill up front please take advantage of our Ezidebit payment system which breaks your fees up into smaller fortnightly installments.

Sure our new gate is a little inconvenient BUT we absolutely 100% want to keep our little dancers safe!!

We have watched many young children & toddlers rush ahead of mum or dad and straight out into the car park.

The gate will STOP them in their tracks give parents time to catch up, watch safely for cars and then proceed through the car park.

Thanks for your cooperation & understanding. And for setting an example to all of our kids and using it to keep us all safe.

Our very own App!We have our own app for your Iphone

Well here it is folks…our very own PSD app. What’s an app and how can it help you? An app is a program you can download into your iphone to keep you up to date with news and tips.

PSD is conducting a trial our own Sportsbag iPhone App to help us communicate more effectively with our parent/member community. We are trialing the iPhone version for 30 days and it’s now live. All going well, we will then get the Android version in the Google Play Store.

Can you please support this new way of communicating with you and install our Sportsbag App? We’d love to know how it’s going. To install it, just look for our school name “Peninsula School of Dance” in the Apple App Store, and install it on your iPhone.

At PSD we love to foster positive interaction between our youngest students and our older more experienced students. The benefits on both sides are enormous.

Our young students enjoy interacting and watching the older students through demonstration and their valued support in class. We feel great pride at PSD seeing our senior school students further develop their leadership qualities.

These girls and boys all do a wonderful job, from helping settle in our youngest budding dancers, helping with class work, through to chasing lost property and running various messages between classes.

They keep things humming along very nicely, and we keep them busy for their folks!

Entry forms will be available in Term 2 but in the meantime we encourage you to start working on some pieces now! Why not get together with your dancing friends over the holidays and create something to your favourite piece of music.

For our newer students - the Choreographic Competition is a wonderful school tradition started by Miss Sandra Allan many years ago. This event provides students with the opportunity to create their own work either as an individual, or for a group of class mates. Students are able to produce pieces ranging from solos, duos and groups and can perform various styles including classical, demi-character, jazz/hip hop and tap. The Annual Choreographic Competition is truly a delight for students and parents alike.

Thanks to the Hemingway family and their generous donation of time, materials and genuine support of our dance school.

They have made and installed new barres in our downstairs studio. We are thrilled! Please support TKP Fabricating for your stainless steel products when you next need them…and they sure supported us! Thank you Scott and Dimity for being such a community-minded business! www.tkpfab.com

D-Step Dance CrewThe latest thing to hit the hood!

PSD recently launched its very own Hip Hop Dance Crew. D-Step is an exciting initiative promoting dance for young people across the peninsula and beyond. It will initially be offered to Peninsula Dance students only, with the potential to eventually accept auditions from dancers outside of Peninsula Dance.

Pilot classes have recently been conducted and this great project for our peninsula kids will allow them to:-• Form a performance crew available for functions, competitions and events• Connect the kids with guest teachers• Introduce emerging choreography..• Develop student’s Hip Hop skills, team work and performance experience.• Provide a place for kids to connect with others like them.• Offer mentoring, personal development and leadership opportunities.

It will also promote PSD students to the peninsula – and that’s something we are very proud of. Stay tuned…this Hip Hop crew is set to storm the dance floor!

Facebook Star Ratings

We recently added a recommendations/

star rating to our PSD Facebook Page. Could we ask our families a

favour? Please pop on to Facebook and leave a comment about us and throw some stars our

way? This will help us to tell other families about

what we offer.

We were all affected by the sad and tragic news of a talented young peninsula boy Like Batty losing his life recently. As a community this has been a difficult time for us to process this tragedy, and our ability to make sense of it all. May we all take inspiration from a grieving mother, and watch over each others kids - PSD offers our small creative people a place to celebrate life and emerging passions.

As a dance community we extend our deepest sympathies to Rose Batty and her family and friends and encourage joy through the art of dance. May awareness of how we can help with matters of depression, mental health and domestic violence be heightened through this sad event. And may little Luke rest in peace.
