“Give Me 5 for Kids”

Well done!

We would like to thank everyone who supported our “Give me 5 for Kids”

Pyjama Day last Thursday.

We raised $239.35 which goes directly to the Albury Base Hospital children’s ward.

Thankyou for your ongoing support of our local hospital and thank you to the staff for

the yummy popcorn and movies.

Clancy Koala It is great to see the lose coins coming in and being put in our Clancy Koala money boxes. We are still deciding which orphanage we will be supporting.

NO POLLING BOOTH AT THE SCHOOL FOR THIS SATURDAY’S FEDERAL ELECTION The Electoral Commission has informed the school that our school will not be required for Saturday’s 2 July Federal election. We understand that Lavington Public School and Lavington East will be available. The State election will be use the school for polling for the September election.

Springdale Heights Public School hosted the finals of the Lions Club Schools Public Speaking competition last week and we are proud to announce that Issy B came first against a very strong field of competitors.

Report from Issy B

I won the Lions Club Schools Public Speaking

competition last week for the third year in a row.

I was an Explosive

Ordinance Disposal Specialist and I am

diffusing and detonating bombs in Afghanistan with my team and my

trusty assistant Bob an expensive disposal robot.

The topic was “A Day in the Life of”. We had to choose a job and talk about the training and how we do it. I also did an impromptu speech and the topic was “Your Family is planning a Holiday”. We had to choose where we were going and why.

Beginning in 1984, the Schools Spectacular has grown to be one of the biggest annual cultural events in NSW. It is broadcast nationally every year, and each year a new theme is chosen, designed to draw together performers of many cultural backgrounds from all around the state. We are proud to announce that one of our students, Issy B will be performing this year.

Kinder—Mrs Purss-Semple & Mrs Wells

In Kinder over the past few weeks we have enjoyed being creative making props, costumes and practising our acting skills. We have enjoyed filming our play ’The Very Cranky Bear’ and watching ourselves on the big screen. A big thankyou to Miss Heinjus for putting our movie together and helping us to look like we belong in Hollywood! Ha ha. We hope everyone enjoyed seeing our movie at the assembly.

Year K/1 (Bumble Bees)—Mrs Paterson & Ms Boughton

It has been a busy few weeks for K/1 and we have all earned a well earned break. We thank everyone who has been participating in daily home reading and encourage you to have fun with writing and reading lots of stories during the school holidays. In Maths we have been practising counting backwards and solving subtraction problems. This may help you to count down the days until we can return happily and safely to school! Have a safe and fun break.

Year 1/2—Mrs Pontt & Mrs Webb

1/2 enjoyed spending Week 9 with Mrs Fairall. Many students loved creating a pastel and chalk 'cat' artwork with her. Mrs Webb has been working hard with the class, teaching them position in Maths - hopefully we all know our left and right now! The students missed Mrs Pontt last week and are very happy to have her back for our last week of term. Have a safe and happy holiday everyone!

Year 2—Mrs Brown & Mrs Hillary

Wow! What a term! We have learnt a lot of different things this term, from writing procedures and information reports to learning about time and multiplication. We have also done some amazing artwork based on the seasons. Thanks to all the parents who came in and saw the children’s work during Student Led Conferencing. We are looking forward to Term 3 as Mrs Hillary is joining our class to replace Mrs Braines who has finished up for the year. We are beginning to prepare for the whole school performance in week 6 of Term 3. Have a safe and fun filled holiday Year 2!

Year 3/4D—Mrs Doust

I would like to thank all parents for your support this semester. It has been a busy time for all students and parents and I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break. It was great to catch up with so many parents at the Student Led Conferences. Have a safe and happy holiday. See you next all next term!

Year 3/4S—Mrs Sloan Term 1 has been a very busy and successful term. 3/4S should be proud of their hard work. In Literacy we finished off the term writing Discussions and in Numeracy we looked at 2D shapes, angles and division. Thankyou to the parents and carers who came to the Student Led Conferences , the students loved seeing you there. I hope you have a lazing holiday and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 3.

Year 5/6C—Mrs Carroll

We have had a very busy term and I’m sure everyone is excited about school holidays. Thank you to those parents who came to Student Led Conferences. It is a great opportunity for students to showcase their work. Our class has finished our art exhibition on Australian Colonies. The display is set up in the loft next to our classroom and looks fantastic! I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to Term 3!

Year 5/6W—Miss Wilson

The students were very excited to share their work and what they have learnt this year at Student Led Conferences. In Maths we have been learning to tell time in 12 hour and 24 hour on analogue and digital clocks. This is a concept that needs constant revision, so at home ask your child to tell you what the time is. We are looking at measuring the area of everyday locations and items to find the amount of squared centimetres or metres to cover the surface area. The students are very confident and learning problem solving skills and leadership skills in our PE sessions and our buddy work will continue next term. Have a safe holiday and I will see you next term.

Library– Mrs Kay

All borrowing has ceased for the term and students are reminded that overdue books must either be returned or paid for. Congratulations to the following students who are our current library monitors fro week 8. Happy holidays
