ZONTA CLUB INTERNATIONAL

We are in receipt of invitation for the dinner arranged by Zonta Club International on 10th

October.

Our group was invited last year to give a presentation at the Cultural Awareness Day.

THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY OF PERTH

The second invitation is to be a speaker at for The Theosophical Order of Service (T.O.S) to the general

membership of The Theosophical Society of Perth(T.S.). The T.O.S was formed in 1916 by the then

President of the T.S , Dr. Annie Besant, in order to enable members to give public service to various

benevolent and other entities, as the T.S. itself stood alone with its aims and was non-political. The

organisation endeavors to raise funds to support projects here in WA and abroad. At present they are

supporting an Aboriginal Women’s Refuge Centre; make packs for infants in Foster Care; supply

knitted knee rugs for Aged Care facilities; provide towels and rugs for the Dog and Cat Havens and

support a Pakistan Home School project for refugee Afghan women. This latter project is the main

aim as the members have pledged $1,200 this year to help keep it open.

ANTI POVERTY WEEK AT UWA

Do you have unwanted trash or treasure at home that you would like to donate for a very good cause?

Why not allow us to sell it for you and donate the funds to charity?

This year, Student Services is organising events to promote Anti-Poverty Week with the aim of raising

$500 for Homeless Connect Perth.

Simply bundle up your unwanted goods, books, good quality clothes, crafts, hobbies, or whatever that is

new or in good condition and would appeal to our students and staff (no bulk items of furniture please)

and deliver them to Student Services, RM 2224 by c.o.b Friday 11 October. Even if you do not have any

trash or treasure, please help support us by visiting our stall at

Guild Market Day – Tuesday 15 October, 11am -2 pm. Please help spread the words and do our part to

help fight poverty and hardship.

The main aims of Anti-Poverty Week are to:

  Strengthen public understanding of the causes and consequences of poverty and hardship arounthe world and in Australia;

Encourage research, discussion and action to address these problems, including action by

individuals, communities, organisations and governments.
