Last Friday we celebrated ANZAC Day to remember those who sacrificed their lives for the beautiful land

that we call home. On 30th April we will remember the shaheeds of Pakistan Army who set examples of

bravery saving their motherland so our beloved ones can live safely.

In Perth only, we know of one postgraduate student whose brother was severely injured and two families

who have lost their loved ones in the war against terrorism while serving in Pakistan Defence Force. We

owe our freedom to them and their families. In two weeks time Mother’s day will be making headlines all

over the world. This is the most difficult time for the mothers who have very proudly given their best

gems to the nation and it is only a parent who can feel the pain that they have to go through and yet they

do it with a smile that their kids have given their lives for the nation . Take some time to remember them

in your prayers.

AMENDMENTS TO RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ACT 1975

As an ethnic group we are deeply concerned with the amendments that have been

proposed by the Attorney General and urge all the community members to raise their

voice.

Pakistanis in Australia as the member group will be endorsing the submission prepared by

Ethnic Communities Council of Western Australia (ECCWA) Inc. and rejects the proposed

amendments in the name of freedom of speech.

ECCWA is organizing a forum on 28th April at 5.30 pm to present its submission for

endorsement and everyone is welcome to attend the forum. The venue is Multicultural

House, 20 View Street, North Perth.

If you can spare two hours attend the forum.

If you can spare 30 minutes write to your parliamentarian. (We can provide you the

template).

If you can spare only 5 minutes then please sign the petition and share it with your

networks.

BASANT MELA ORGANISED BY GIRLS ASSOCIATION

OF PAKISTAN-AUSTRALIA

Congratulations to Nosheen and her team on successfully organising the

Basant festival. The success of this event has led to a request from

community members on our facebook group to organise a similar event in

Perth. We have already requested Nosheen to assist us and if you have any

ideas feel free to share them. At this moment we are looking at the month of

November and will keep you posted. However it will be great if we could

have a group of volunteers who could work on this project now.
