Margaret Cambron, a native and lifelong resident of Daviess County began her Career Development career in 2008, which is the fourth career path for Cambron. Having past careers in the dental field, teaching and being a small business owner, gave her real-world experience in many of the career readiness areas she teaches to students and alumni at her alma mater, Kentucky Wesleyan College.

This practical experience coupled with her strong network within the business community, especially through the Chamber of Commerce

Ambassador program, has prepared her for teaching students, “what employers want.” She also uses this network to find experiential learning opportunities and career opportuni-ties for the students. Local business professionals, as well as alumni are invited on campus to participate in events that help students practice much needed skills in interviewing and networking.

Thank you to Margaret for all her hard work on behalf of the Chamber and the Owensboro business com-munity.

Ambassador of the Month Spotlight

CHAMBER MATTERS6 Monday, October 1, 2012

• Tell us about your role at the Chamber in serving members.

As the Administrative Assistant at the Chamber, I am in charge of mem-ber communication, planning events, the Chamber website, social media, publica-tions and other office tasks. My role is to keep all members of the Chamber informed about upcoming events and news that is rel-evant to them and their businesses.

• What is your favorite part about your role at the Chamber?

The best part about my job at the Chamber is planning the Rooster Booster Breakfast each month. People really enjoy coming to Rooster Booster and it is such an amazing tradition here at the Chamber and in Owensboro. Every time a speaker or a guest from out of town comes to the breakfast, they are extremely complimentary of the large crowd and the fact that the breakfast is fun and exciting to attend. It is very fulfilling knowing that I am planning an event that hundreds of people from Owensboro look forward to attending each month.

• What is something that most people don’t know about the Cham-ber?

Most Chamber members don’t know that the Chamber website,

www.owensboro.com/chamber has a Member’s Only portal. With a login and password, any Chamber member can access the portal to update con-

tact information, pay invoices with a credit card, view your refer-ral report and post coupons that will appear on the Cham-ber website. If you don’t know your login and password, call the Chamber office at 926-1860 and some-one will be happy to give it to you. It is a great tool to utilize so you can make sure your Chamber account

is accurate and you are receiving the full benefit of your membership!

• Why do you choose to live and work in the greater Owensboro area?

When I graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 2003, I was bound and determined to leave Owens-boro and move to a bigger city. After nine years of living in both Bowling Green and Nashville, I realized that there is no place like home. I have been back in Owensboro for almost a year now and could not be happier with my decision. What an amazing time for our town, with the growth and revitalization that is occurring. Owensboro is making history each and every day, and I could not be more proud to be a citizen of this amazing community!
