GRADE 7 MANALI –CHANDINAGADH
Outbonds
In Manali, we trekked almost 5kms to The CLUB HOUSE. We were exposed to a lot of physically proactive activities. We did River crossing- where the icy cold water splashed on our bare feet and gave a sensation of pride and enthusiasm. We also did Bur-ma Bridge, river crossing in air, etc. Later in the even-ing, we went to purify ourselves at the Hadimba Devi temple. We also went to the Solang Valley, where we had an array of activities to choose from like ATV Biking, Zorbing, Tubing, Para sailing, Snow mobile, etc. On the way back, we visited the Hot Springs at Vashishth. Snow fight was the best experi-ence to feel the cold snow on your delicate hands. We departed for Kullu where we were going to try our luck at River rafting in the fierce River Baes. I en-joyed every bit of it till it lasted. Later at night we had a grand DJ party where everybody danced till they dropped!
On the way to Chandinagadh, we visited the Rock
Gardens of Chandigarh. Next day, post breakfast we
checked out and left for Ambala station. On the way
we shopped our sporting spirits of at Decathlon (all
about sports). We had our train back to Vadodara at
7PM. Next day we arrived at Vadodara Station with
dreamy eyes, bright grins, and bags full of memories
and gifts for our loved ones. It was my most memora-
ble trip with my loves best friends. From now Manali
and all its components reside in the adventure drawn
part of my heart.

GRADE 8 MANALI –CHANDINAGADH
Outbonds
Our outbound trip this year was to Manali and Chandigarh. Manali was a beautiful place, away from the pollution of the city with natural beauty and great scenery. We went for trekking where there were massive amount of tall trees. We learnt about the different types of trees, leaves. We also did various activities over there like river crossing and Burma Bridge. They were thrilling and challenging for all of us. On the fourth day of our trip, we went to the Solang Valley. As we expected, the snow was soft and white, perfect for snow fights. We had other activities there like ATV biking, Snow-mobiles, Yak rides, Zorbing, etc. On our way back we went to the Vasishtha hot-water stream. River rafting on the 5th day was fun too. It was one of our most memorable activities! The night at the hotel was the DJ night and all of us thor-oughly enjoyed dancing!
The next day we were off to Chandigarh, where we visited the rock garden and did some shopping in a mall. The rock garden was a beautiful place, which had little sculptures made of a variety of rocks of different shapes and sizes. Finally on the seventh day, we came back to Baroda with memories and experiences that could last for a lifetime. We had had a wonderful time and this trip was fun as well as a great learning experience! Shree Patel 8A IB
GRADE 11 RISHIKESH
We had many wonderful experience in Rishikesh
this March. Days went by with full of exciting activi-
ties and we all wished if we could stay there longer.
One of the most thrilling and unique experience
was the river rafting. Cutting through the waves
dancing above our heights, we rafted down the Gan-
ga River with thrill and joy. Some people fell off the
raft too, because of the uncontrollable force of water
currant, though they were saved by our skilled in-
structors.
Bungee jumping and giant swing were another
amazing experience we had. In addition to that, we
also did cliff jumping; we jumped into the Ganga Riv-
er from a cliff about 7m high. Rock climbing and rap-
pelling was also challenging. The night trek which we
did from mid-night till early morning, treasure
hunting in the Rishikesh city, and games we played

ART BEAT
It was a rare opportunity when the Commer-
cial arts students of grade 12, visited the Retro-
spective Exhibition of Ms. Ira Chaudhary at Red
Gallery, Vadodara on the 8th of April’15.
As an acclaimed pioneer in pottery,
Ms. Ira Chaudhary, at the age of 88, displayed the
best of her creativities in a week long exhibition,
titled “Ira’s Retrospective” .On the display were
over 140 magnificent pots made of clay and ce-
ramics, the oldest one dating to 1953. In the
highly distinctive decoration on her pots, she has
been influenced by Indian tribal, pre Columbian
and Oceanic art. The most exquisite ones were
those with amazing letters inscribed articulately
with precision. However the letters don’t put for-
ward any language as they have been adopted
from a variety of languages.

Ms. Ira incises the designs on the pots
through slip color, giving it a rich textual appear-
ance. She became a potter by chance and contin-
ues practicing what she aptly calls helpless addic-
tion to craft!
The sober ambiance created at the exhibition
and the silent embellishments placed near the
displayed work added an extra feature to this ret-
rospective exhibition which said it all about the
artist. The exhibition increased the students’ in-
terest in the study of Art and gave a new meaning
to the subject and its study. Indeed, it was an en-
riching experience.
