The following pages include all the information you should need to complete these activities. For examples of these projects please visit the Examples section of Mrs. Atkins website:https://atkinsartroom.weebly.com/examples.html

Key Terms:Diorama: a 3D model of a scene, usually in miniature.Masterpiece: a creation that has been given much critical praise, a work of outstanding creativity, skill, profundity, or workmanship.Printmaking: the process of creating artworks by printing, normally on paper. The process of creating prints that have an element of originality, not a photographic reproduction of a painting.

Foot Drawing:Try using your foot to draw a picture, place your pencil between your toes and try to draw, can you add color?

Origami:Comes from the Japanese words ori meaning folding and kami meaning paper (the k changes to a g because on a Japanese grammar rule) and is the art of fold in paper. The goal is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques. Here are a few websites with instructions: https://www.origami-fun.com/origami-jumping-frog.htmlhttp://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-samurai-helmet.htmlhttp://www.origami-instructions.com/easy-origami-modular-crown.htmlhttp://www.origami-instructions.com/easy-origami-witches-claws.html

Printmaking:Printmaking is the process of creating artworks by printing, normally on paper. You can think of it like rubber stamping, except the stamps can be made from materials other than rubber and each artist makes their own stamps. Gather the supplies below then watch the video Mrs. Atkins made to show you the steps. https://youtu.be/8yP6I0JKxUIFor this activity you will need:

some foam (this can be craft foam or a flat piece from a take-out box or egg carton) washable markers scissors paper (cardstock works best, but copy paper will work) a little water

Artwork Recreation:The J. Paul Getty Museum in LA has challenged people to recreate a work of art using objects and people in their homes. So now I am challenging you to put yourself in your favorite masterpiece!

1. Search for an artwork you like (if you would like help selecting an artwork or artist please email me)2. Recreate that artwork with what you have at home3. Take a picture and send it to me

Postcard:A handmade artwork and short note from a loved one are sure to brighten anyone’s day. This is a great way to show someone that you are thinking of them. Plus, it is always exciting to get fun things in the mail. The standard postcard size is 4”x6”.
