Parenting with Power
Scripture of the week:
Fathers, do not exasperate your children. Instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
~ Ephesians 6:4
Look for Ways to Make Discipline Positive
Youmaybethinking,“Yes,Iknowdisciplineissupposedtobepositivebuthowcan Ibepositivewhenmykidsaredoingthewrongthing.”Herearetwopracticalwaysyoucanmakeyourdis-ciplinetimesapositiveexperience.
The first is to state rules and requests in positive terms. In-steadofsaying,“don’tshout,”youmightsay,“wetalkquietly inthestore.”Insteadof“stopbeingroughwiththedog,”youmightsay,“begentle.”Insteadofcomplainingabouttheclothesalloveryourdaughter’sroom,youcouldsay,“remembertopickupyourclothes andorganize your roombefore yougoout tonight.”Itmaytakesomework,butclearlystatingorrestatingtheruleinpositivetermsgivesyourchildaclearpictureofwhatyouexpectandkeepsyourinteractiononapositivenote.Givegentle,posi-tivereminderstopointyourkidsintherightdirection.

Strategy for the week: This week re-phrase discipline statements so they are positive. Make sure your children already know the con-sequences of their actions so as you speak in a positive manner they are calmly but firmly reminded.

SecondaryIs This True??
Time for a chuckle folks. Have a readof these and seehowmanyyoucanagreewith.
Natural LawsNow these really do ring true!!1. Law of Mechanical Repair After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch. 2. Law of the Workshop Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner. 3. Law of the Telephone When you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal. 4. Law of the Alibi If you tell the boss you were late for work because youhadaflattyre, thenextmorningyouwillhavea flattyre.5. Variation Law Ifyouchangelines(ortrafficlanes),theoneyou were in will start to move faster than the one you areinnow(workseverytime).6. Bath Theorem When the body is immersed in water, the telephone rings. 7. Law of Close Encounters The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you have just rushed out to get something and haven’t bothered to get dressed up or(fortheladies)putonmake-up.8. Law of the Result When you try to prove to someone that a machine won’t work, it will. 9. Law of Bio-Mechanics The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach. 10. Theatre Rule At any event, the people whose seats are furthest from the aisle arrive last. 11. Law of Coffee As soon as you sit down to a cup of hot coffee, your boss will ask you to do something which will last until the coffee is cold. 12. Murphy’s Law of Lockers If there are only two people in a locker room, they will have adjacent lockers. 13. Law of Dirty Rugs/Carpets Thechancesofanopen-facedjamsandwich landingfacedownonafloorcoveringaredirectly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.

The Holy SpiritQuote from Walk in Faith by Ray McCauley
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but what-ever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.
