Leading the way in the leisure industry, Cadbury World was one of the UK’s

first leisure attractions to introduce a telephone booking system to improve

customer service to all visitors (bookings can also now be made by following

the link on the Cadbury World Website).

Costing approximately £6m to design and build in 1990, there have been

several major capital investments subsequently as part of its programme of

continuous improvement:

1997 Cadabra - a gentle ride through a magical Chocolate Wonderland.

1998 Chocolate Coronation Street – as featured in Cadbury’s sponsorship

of ITV’s flagship serial.

2000 The Professor: Visitors discover more tricks of the trade as interactive

video stations and the “professor” bring to life the chocolate making

process for leading Cadbury brands.

2001 £0.5 million invested to refresh three sets: The Cadbury Story,

Making Chocolate and The History of Advertising.

2003 £0.5m refurbishment of the reception area and creation of The

World’s Biggest Cadbury Shop.

2004 A total of £350,000 was spent on the refurbishment of The

Demonstration Area and The Packaging Plant including the

installation of a 3D cinema screen to bring to life the packing and

wrapping process.

2005 £100,000 was invested to revamp The Aztec Jungle -

installing waterfalls, boardwalks and a ship. A further

£20,000 was spent on a special Centenary Time Tunnel

to commemorate Cadbury Dairy Milks 100th birthday. In addition to

this, £100,000 has been spent on a new feature The Happiness

Room - an interactive dance room replacing Cocoa Road.

2006 In April 2006, £2 million was spent on removing The Cadburyland

and Fantasy Factory exhibitions – replacing them with two fantastic

new attractions called Essence and Purple Planet.

2007 At the beginning of the year, £150,000 was spent on re-designing

The Demonstration Area and in September, £240,000 was spent on

transforming The Cadbury Collection into the new Bournville

Experience.

The Exhibition 2009 The Cadbury World exhibition is a one-way self-guided tour which the visitor can enjoy at their own pace. It is recommended that the visitor allows around three hours to fully enjoy their Cadbury World experience. As of January 2009, the exhibition consists of: Zone 1: The Aztec Jungle Stroll through the Aztec jungle over boardwalks and waterfalls in search of the cocoa bean to discover more about cocoa’s history and the origins of the UK’s favourite chocolate. Zone 2: The Journey to Europe

Zone 3: Bull Street See the recreation of Victorian Bull Street where, in 1824, John Cadbury establishes his shop selling tea, coffee, and drinking chocolate next door to his father’s store. Then allow John to introduce himself and tell you his story…
