Although a condensed, “to the point” resume is usually the best way to go, that style of resume often times paints a somewhat myopic picture of a

candidate for a position. So with that in mind I have created this cover letter to give the reader some added perspective of what I can bring to an organization.

Many candidates from the numerical control operating and

programming field can be classified as “shop guys and/or gals”. I consider myself to be a professional who can work in both a shop and office

environment. Here are some of the things that I have done and still do that I believe help my value to a company.

12 years experience programming and operating 3 and 5 axis lasers.

Experience programming and operating wire EDM, CNC mill, water jet

and press brake.

At two different organizations I was hired in roles involving both laser

programming as well as operations; as the companies had purchased

their first laser cutting machines during my time of hire. I was relied

on heavily to get these companies’ laser departments up and running

and was successful in each instance.

Unique set of work experience that includes working for manufacturing

companies of varying sizes. I have also gained valuable experience

helping to build many different types of products including; tool and

die work, stampings, a wide variety of military projects for customers

including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Northrop Grumman, coal

burning power plant components, aerospace parts including

Gulfstream interior parts, roller coaster parts for Disney World,

composite ballistic shields for police riot gear and the development of

future Ford vehicle interiors and exterior body styles.

Development of processes for medium to long run production jobs is

something that I enjoy. Seeing the results of continuously reducing

down time, reducing part to part run time, improving quality and

reducing risk as a job progresses is rewarding. I have also been

exposed to some Six Sigma techniques including value stream

mapping and impact/cost strategic problem solving.

Interacts well with owners, managers, customers, suppliers and other

department managers to help facilitate day to day operations.

Creating PowerPoint slide shows based on personal research and

giving presentations to groups of employees.

Professional appearance, good listener, communicator and writer.

These are just some of the things that come to mind that may not be

evident upon a quick review of my resume. I am at work to help however I can. I’m always thinking of new ideas for continuous improvement, I

like a challenge and I love the sense of accomplishment. Thank you for your time. I hope this helps you to get to know me a little better.
