Jeff’s background includes over 35 years of property management and maintenance. As a principal inspector, Jeff has been inspecting buildings for the past 7 years. In that time he has inspected over 10,000 buildings. Jeff Achterberg is licensed by the State of North Carolina and South Carolina as a Real Estate Inspector. He was the Head Inspector for HUD in Brown County for 4 years, and was a licensed Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor in the state of Wisconsin. He also spent 10 years as a property manager responsible for maintaining multi-unit apartment complexes. Jeff has over 30 years of experience with all facets of home construction. Jeff is a registered FHA & VA Home Inspector in the Coastal Carolina region. Jeff is a certified HERS Rater who combines his extensive building knowledge with energy efficiency to help you achieve ENERGY STAR program standards compliance. Jeff is a certified HERS Rater and Energy Auditor via RESNET. RESNET is the program recognized by the Energy Star program. Jeff holds a Bachelors Degree in the Humanities. Jeff was born in Neenah, Wisconsin and grew up there and in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Jeff is married to Maribeth, his wife of 12 years. He has two children, John, 26 years old and Farah, 25 years old. Jeff moved to Brunswick County in 2005 as a full time resident. He co-founded the Ruth House, A Home of New Beginnings for the at-risk teen girls of Brunswick County who need a safe and nurturing home in which to live and grow. Jeff attends Barefoot Church in North Myrtle Beach. Jeff has participated in theatre, musicals and performances since he was a teenager and spent years in radio. He is an accomplished impersonator of Ronald Reagan, and other personalities. Denny—Those little pots sure do add up But no Joker??? Bert Frink, a junior at West Brunswick High School, and son of SBI Past President, Beth Frink, attended our April 8 th meeting. Bert, along with six other juniors, were sponsored by our club and attended the RYLA weekend in January. Mary Ellen Good, along with Bert, presented a picture representation of the weekend to the Club, sharing some of the highlights of the RYLA experience. Bert noted that he was unsure about attending RYLA, not knowing what to expect, only to find the RYLA weekend one of the best experiences he has had. He related that the “Culture Walk” was a session that he won’t soon forget. The “Walk” helped the RYLA participants realize that no matter who we are or what we may have experienced in life in terms of challenges, we are more alike than different. Induction of New Members

It is that time of the year again. If you know a worthy West Brunswick High School student please let them know it is time to apply for the scholarships that SBI will be awarding at the end of the school year.

Completed applications are due by Monday,

May 2nd.

A completed application consists of the following items:

1. Typed resume, transcript, & FAFSA form

2. Thoughtful responses to two Narratives

• "Why I am an Excellent Candidate for this Award"

• "Leadership & Service - What They Mean to Me"

3. Three letters of recommendation.

Personal interviews will be conducted the

week of May 9th.

Applications are available to all interested Seniors.

They will also be available on our rotary website at www.sbirotary.org.

Completed applications may be turned into the guidance office. Jennifer Vanasse will pick these applications up the Monday, May 2nd after school.
