Union Academy 2nd Graders take pride in partnering with the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte to provide supplies for individuals going through an illness and helping the patient’s families with their needs. On August 22nd, the students visited Ronald McDonald House and found out that they provide a place for sick kids and their families to stay . It offers hope, support and love to families who are struggling to cope with their child’s illness. Throughout the year, the second graders are involved in several activities to support Ronald McDonald House and the patients. Because of the adaptability shown by the patients and their families, we shot this video to share at our Adaptability Character Assembly in October.; check it out!

World Hello Day is November 21. The

objective to promote world peace. It

is really easy to participate in, simply,

say hello to the people today. So,

let's all make a difference and say

"Hello" to at least ten people.

Our character trait for the month of November is

Respect. Guidance lessons are underway teaching

various ways to show respect in the classrooms .

Our 4th graders are starting to work on a kindness

video to show how one act of kindness can have a

ripple effect on others and create a better school and

Advising and Service Learning projects in the next

couple of weeks. One thing the advisories are doing this

year is reading the book Wonder. A book about a young

boy born with a facial deformity that up until now has

prevented him from going to a school. He wants nothing

more than to be treated as an ordinary kid, but his

classmates can’t get past his extraordinary face.

To promote and celebrate College

Application Week (Nov. 18-22):

All high school students can wear

college sweatshirts/t-shirts.

Students can earn a homework pass

area).

There will be a daily drawing for

college items.

Union Academy is partnering with Advantage Cartridge to

money and be good stewards to our earth at the same

Target

Scrip is a year-round fundraiser where you purchase gift cards. Union Academy purchases Scrip gift cards at

discount between 2-15%. Families buy the Scrip gift cards at face value—UA keeps the difference.

Retailers include: Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Lowe’s, Chick-Fil-A, Olive Garden, Gap, Amazon, and 100’s more.

Last year, total sales of $87,000 generated $4,376 of profit. Only 10% of UA families participated! Just imagine, if

only 200 families spend $110/month and our school earns an average of 5% on those purchases, we could make

$15,000 in one year!

How to Order Scrip Gift Cards:

1. Fill out the Scrip order form (found on the Scrip page on the UA website)

2. Attach payment to form and send with your child or drop off at either campus.

3. If cards are available immediately, they will be given to you that day or the next. If cards need to be ordered,

they will be available by the end of the week.
