September, for me, means starting to think about the holidays and gearing up for four months of fun and activities. Let's concentrate on September though and remember some VERY important dates that should be on your calendar. September 5th is Cheese Pizza Day (I'm sure all the local pizza places will appreciate us for this), September 9th is Teddy Bear Day, September 13th is Positive Thinking Day (if you are not doing this everyday, you should), September 14th is National Cream Filled Donut Day (yes!), September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and September 30th is National Mud Pack Day (hmmm). Many others as well. On a serious note, do take a moment on September 11th
and on September 21st (National Peace Day). During these months, I will continue to work hard to produce an excellent newsletter for you. Though I can do the job of putting a great product together, it is you that makes it worth reading. All the residents, governing entities, clubs, schools, organizations, charities and businesses who contribute to this newsletter are who make the difference. I thank you for your support and will continue to support you. Any new ideas or thoughts are always welcome. Remember, send in your photos, stories, announcements and events. BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
Cub Scout Pack 801 hosted its official fall round-up Tuesday, August 28th. Cub Scouts is open to boys in first through fifth grade. Although Pack 801 meets at Hunter’s Green Elementary School, boys do not have to attend that school to participate. The first Pack meeting of the school year will be held on Monday, Sept. 10th, at Hunter’s Green Elementary at 6:15 pm. There will be games and opportunities to earn belt loops for the boys and a very important parent orientation for all families. Coming up this fall, activities include camping – a Halloween-themed weekend of fun at Camp Brorein, a local Boy Scout camp, October 26th-28th. Boys will be getting their boats ready for our annual Raingutter Regatta, where they will use their own breath to power small sailboats down a raingutter. Also this fall, our annual popcorn sale allows Scouts in Pack 801 to help raise funds for the many activities and achievements they participate in throughout the year. This helps us to connect with our community. Anyone interested in supporting local Scouting by purchasing popcorn can contact John Forman at [email protected] or 813-758-4398. Families interested in joining Cub Scouts may also contact John, or visit the Pack 801 website at http://TampaPack801.com for more information. v

[ BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT ]
If you’re looking for a mortgage to buy a home or refinance an existing loan, you may see or hear ads with offers of low rates or payments. Whether you see them on the Internet, on television or in the paper, or whether they come by fax or mail, some of these ads look like they’re from your mortgage company or a government agency. Regardless of where you see the ads, remember that while the offers are tempting, some are terribly flawed: they don’t disclose the true terms of the deal as the law requires.
How do you choose the right mortgage company to handle the
most important asset of your life? Choose a company with roots dating back to 1938. JMC Funding Mortgage Company (subsidiary of Jersey Mortgage Company) has been delivering honest, outstanding mortgage financing for decades. As pioneers in the mortgage industry they are proud to be a part of an elite group of lenders elected to carry the LendRIGHT™ seal of excellence. As part of this group, they represent the top 3% of community lenders in the United States. Moreover, JMC mortgage professionals have been with the company an average of 15 years or more— extremely uncommon in the
mortgage industry today. The long tenure of their staff ensures that they get mortgages approved faster and they get them done right.
Best Refinance and Purchase Rates Are
Available Now If you were contemplating on refinancing or purchasing a home.
You will be pleasantly surprised how low rates have become. More importantly, if you were told you
couldn’t refinance before because of appraisal value of your home, re-visit that assessment. Previous clients have returned to question the new HARP programs (Fannie and Freddie refinance programs) and have been very successful saving a tremendous amount of money monthly or by cutting years of interest off the mortgage by refinancing into a 10 year, 15 year, or 20 year fix. With lowered fees, you can now roll the costs into the loan amount with virtually no out of pocket expense. I am committed to taking the time to consider your situation first, helping you find the best loan available….no matter if it’s your first home, your second home, investment home, or refinancing your current loan. Make saving money your priority, today. For more information on our FHA, VA, USDA, or Reverse Mortgage programs, please contact me.

Artist of the Month North
Tampa Arts
League "COLOR BLOOMS IN SEPTEMBER AT
NEW TAMPA LIBRARY"Flora of all kinds is the subject of expressive paintings by North Tampa Arts League artist Arlene Wells, who will showcase her colorful artwork at the New Tampa Regional Library, l000l Cross Creek Blvd., during the month of September.
In her current work, Arlene has been exploring the many patterns and colors found in nature, particularly plants and vegetation of all kinds. And these elements are the real subjects of her paintings. “When I look at anything, I like to break
it down into simple shapes and colors,” Arlene says. This shows me a rather abstracted picture in which I can see patterns and rhythm more easily. And this gives me another understanding of whatever it is I’m looking at. This alternative view can be very beautiful and stimulating, and gives the viewer more information about a subject than a strictly realistic presentation.”
Arlene says that her work has run the gamut from realism to abstraction in an effort to find her own expression and she has landed somewhere in the middle. “I love color,” she says. “The knowledge of color, the appreciation of color, the use of color is a big part of my world and work. “Also, the communication of feeling or mood comes before realism. I also strive for simplicity as I believe it has great impact.”
Arlene has resided in the Tampa Bay area for the past twenty-six years with her husband, and they have raised two sons here. Although she started out in the field of social science education, she began painting when she and her family lived in Saudi Arabia. “There I found myself in a painting class taught by another expat who was an art teacher in “real life” back in the States,” Arlene
relates. “What started out to be an interesting diversion turned into a life-long passion.”
In her five years overseas, she studied painting and drawing and visited galleries across Europe, parts of Asia, and the U.S. Upon returning to the States, she took college courses in fine art, graphic design, and illustration. She taught painting and drawing for the Seminole Community School and worked with
interior designers producing one-of-a-kind hand painted items for their clients.
Today, Arlene is the President of the North Tampa Arts League for the 2012-13 year. She continues to show in many venues, has won awards for her work, and still teaches on occasion. To view her artist’s page on the NTAL website, go to northtampaarts.com and click on Artists Gallery. v

The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers and teams for the New Tampa Relay For Life. A Committee Rally will be held on September 4th at Holiday Inn Express & Suites in New Tampa at 6 pm. Hunter's Green residents interested in being a volunteer on the planning committee or forming a team are encouraged to attend. A Kick-Off Party for the event will be Tuesday, October 2nd at Hunter's Green Country Club at 6 pm. The New Tampa 2013 goal is to rank in the Top 25 Relay Events in Florida and raise $150,000. The 2012 Relay fundraising efforts contributed $115,000. The world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, Relay For Life mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease. “New Tampa residents who give their time, energy and financial commitment to this exciting event are
really standing up for our community and its pledge to join the fight,” said Bill Holster, Team Development Chair. This year’s New Tampa Relay will be held at Freedom High School in April 2013. Relay For Life events are held overnight as individuals and teams camp
out on an athletic track. The goal is to keep one team member on the track at all times throughout the evening. Teams do most of their fundraising prior to the event, but some teams also hold creative fundraisers at their camp sites during Relay. Relay celebrates people who have battled cancer, remembers
loved ones lost, and provides participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease – all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s vision of a world with less cancer and more birthdays. If you would like to volunteer on the Relay For Life committee, serve as a team captain, or sponsor our event please contact Michelle Rossi [email protected] or visit www.RelayForLife.org/newtampafl To learn more about the American Cancer Society or to get help, call us anytime, day or night, at 1-800-227-2345 or visit cancer.org. v

Preparing your home for allergy season is something that should not be overlooked when summer is here. Unfortunately 1 out of 5 Americans suffer from asthma and seasonal allergy related issues. Of all of the seasons of the year, spring is usually the worst for those who suffer. Your air conditioning and heating system is one of the main sources in keeping your home free of allergens throughout the year. Most homeowners do not realize this but your indoor air is usually more polluted than outdoor air. Homes are now built with such a sound tightness that once pollutants reach the inside of our home, they are usually trapped within the home
unless properly filtered and removed.
We as Americans spend about 90% of our time indoors therefore we are more susceptible to the triggers of indoor air pollution. There are many options available to add to your existing system that will greatly reduce the amount of harmful allergens and pollutants in the air you breathe inside.
Some of the options available are indoor air filtration systems that will reduce dust, allergens and pollutants by up to 99.9%. There are also Ultra Violet lights systems that can be added to the filtration system that will reduce air pollutants including

The Right Fit™ Foundation (www.therighfitfoundation.org) announced its first annual $5,000 scholarship for local high school students. To qualify, students must be a US Citizen, a resident of Hillsborough County, and have a weighted high school GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must also attend one of the Foundation’s free college admission and financial aid classes along with their parents or guardians. Finalists may be interviewed. One scholarship will be awarded per year. The Right Fit™ Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3), dedicated to educating families about the college admission and financial aid process.
Helping Students Find the Right Fit™
Independent college consultant Kenneth Albert created The Right Fit ™ Foundation to provide free classes to the community on how to select the right college, how to maximize financial aid, and how to reduce the family's out-of-pocket expenses. Inspired by his own experience of

changing careers mid-life, he realized that students and their parents often miss the real heart of planning for college- getting the right fit to begin with. Hewrote the book Finding the Right Fit: The Ultimate Guide to College (Mill City Press, 2009) to help families navigate the college search process and help students choose their career path wisely.
A $5,000 Scholarship For College
This year, the Foundation is offering a $5,000 college scholarship, giving preference to middle income families. “These families often do not qualify for need-based financial aid and borrow more on average to pay for college,” says Albert. Students can register to attend a class on the website: www.therightfitfoundation.org. The scholarship application is also available on the website. The deadline for application is January 15, 2013, and the winner will be notified March 15, 2013.
Finalists may be asked to complete an interview. The scholarship is a one-time award (non-renewable) and will be paid directly to the accredited four-year college or university the winner chooses to attend. "The Right Fit Foundation is excited to help families that need it the most, and hope to expand the scholarship to $10,000 next year,” says Albert.
About The Right Fit™ Foundation
Kenneth Albert, The Right Fit ™ Foundation’s founder, has been helping families with college since 1995. He created the non-profit in order to provide assistance and mentorship to families at no cost. The foundation helps students select colleges, majors and careers that fit their personality and academic profile, and helps families identify sources of financial aid to lower the cost of college. v
