Holes got 7.1/10 from 49 thousand users! And it’s in the top 5000 list in IMDB!

To be honest when I first saw the trailer, I was impressed because just from the trailer it seemed like such a good film and what amazed me the most is the fact it was set in 2003! I expected this movie to be full of comedy and it did live up to my expectation and more. And you should definitely check it out, NOW!

This movie is an adventure, comedy and plants even though it was an adventure, comedy and family, it had such a deeper meaning to the story, it's basically about the past and the way it affects people and I think a lot of people can relate to that -including myself-.

This story is about a teenager called Stanley Yelnats, he was born to a family who has been cursed with bad luck and they blame it on an ancestor who failed to keep a promise to a fortune teller decades ago.

Stanley was accused of stealing a pair of shoes which were donated to charity by a famous football player, after getting arrested he had a choice, either go to Camp 'Green Lake' or jail and Stanley chose to go to Camp 'Green Lake'.

He goes to the camp and he finds that it's a dried-up lake which is under control of the warden, an assistant and a camp counselor. Prisoners spend each day digging holes in the desert to 'build character''. The prisoners are told that they can earn a day off if they find something interesting, and Stanley finds a bullet that had the initials K.B and later on he found a fossil, he gets accepted into the group and gets the nickname 'Caveman'.

During the movie, there were flashbacks on the history of the camp, the town had an actual lake, full of water and life until a teacher Kate Barlow was in a love triangle with a rich man Trout Walker who Kate rejected and an African American onion seller named Sam, who Kate loved. One day she ends up kissing Sam which was illegal at the time, so to respond to that a group of men from the town kill Sam when he was rowing on the boat. Kate kills the sheriff in revenge and then she became an outlaw. Years later, Trout and his wife go up to Kate and demand she gives them her treasure but Kate doesn't give it to them, after that Kate makes a lizard bite her which killed her in minutes. Before she dies, she says 'Start

digging, Trout'. And for the next generation the Walkers set for digging the treasure but they never really find anything.

When digging one day, Stanley finds a treasure and the whole thing is revealed, the warden is Trout's granddaughter and she was using the inmates to search for the treasure.

I think the plot does make sense, it's very easy to follow and it can be believable.

The main characters were Stanley Yelnats who has curly hair and was overweight until he went to the camp and he lost weight and got stronger!, Zero who becomes friends with Stanley in the camp, X-ray who is the leader of the group of boys at the camp, Squid who is another boy at the camp he is as tough as X-ray, Magnet is another boy at the camp, who earned his nickname 'Magnet' by his ability to steal things', Armpit who is one of X-ray's closest friends at the camp, Zigzag who is a very violent kid and the Warden who is basically the symbol of cruel authority at the camp.

-I enjoyed the film a lot, it was such an interesting film with a good plot and a deeper meaning and the fact that I could relate to some of the things that were in the film just made me want to watch it again, to be honest I don't think it has any bad parts, I mean considering the fact it was set in 2003, I didn't really expect much but it was still one of the best movies I've seen and I saw loads of movies.

-I recommend this film to everyone, it can be a great family movie or just a movie to watch on your own, it's interesting, funny and adventurous and why wouldn’t you watch it? You are missing out on one of the best films out there!
