MAPS ACCOMPANYING REPORT
Geological Reconnaissance and EM-16 Survey Scale 1"= 400 ft
EM-16 Profile Map Scale 1"= 200 ft
INTRODUCTION
During the period July 1, 1988 to July 24, 1988 an EM-16 Survey and Geological Reconnaissance was conducted over twenty claims held by Asarco Exploration Company in the Larson Bay area, Van Home Township, Kenora Mining Division, Ontario. The surveys were carried out by company personnel using company equipment.
The data obtained by the surveying is depicted on the maps accompanying this report.
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONS
A geological reconnaissance survey and VLF survey were conducted over a group of twenty contiguous claims.
The VLF EM-16 survey located many apparent conductive zones, most signif icant of which occur on the eastern most peninsula thru lines 1 to 9. The in-phase and out-of-phase components of the survey profiles in this locale suggest a bedrock source for most of the "crossover" points. High in-phase readings experienced (along most lines) throughout the survey area are partly attributable to abrupt outcrop exposures and ridges rising swiftly from the swampy terrain in rapid succession. The conductive zones are probably stratigraphically controlled and may reflect continuous shears or fractures with minor mineralization. The results of this survey will require further study and comparison to geological data obtained over the area this summer and to the known regional mapping compilations to-date.
The geological reconnaissance over the area confirmed the presence of mafic metavolcanics and felsic to intermediate volcanics which have been previously mapped by the OGS along the south shore of Larson Bay (Satterly Map 50e). More recent mapping by the OGS (Parker, Schienbein-Flambeau Lake - Larson Bay Area Map P3112) detected a zone of moderate to intense carbonate alteration in felsic volcanics mapped to the immediate west of our claim group. Minor carbonate alteration was observed in the northwest portion of the claim group covered by our survey. Zones of intense shearing were not located in the survey. Numerous narrow quartz veins were located and sampled for assay throughout the property. One vein located in the central portion of the property (K1004300) ran 0.125/0.115 oz/ton Au but a check assay failed to substantiate these values (0.055/0.045 oz/ton Au). Add itional stripping and sampling in this location failed to return any notable assay results. The prospecting and geological reconnaissance completed over the area indicates the area may yet have some potential for economic gold mineralization. In particular the eastern most peninsula of Larson Bay where overburden cover is much more extensive may warrant closer exam ination.

PROPERTY, LOCATION AND ACCESS
The property discussed in this report consists of a group of twenty (20) contiguous mining claims located in Lots 1 to 4, Concession 1, Van Horne Township, Kenora Mining Division, Ontario.
The claims are further identified as follows:
K1004286 K1004300K1004288 K1004301K1004289 K1004302K1004315 K1004305K1004291 K1004306K1004292 K1004307K1004293 K1004308K1004294 K1004309K1004295 K1004310K1004299 K1004312
The property is located approximately four miles due south of the town of Dryden, Ontario along the south shore of Larson Bay, Wabigoon Lake. The area is easily accessible via boat from the town of Dryden across Wabigoon Lake or from private cottage lots on the north shore of Larson Bay that are serviced by secondary roads.
INSTRUMENT AND SURVEY DATA
The surveys were conducted over chained compass lines originating on the south shore of Larson Bay and run due south to the township line (south boundary). The north-south lines were spaced at 400 foot intervals and stations were established every 100 feet. A total of 13.5 miles of chained compass lines were established on the property.
The electromagnetic survey was conducted using a Geonics EM-16 VLF unit. The VLF method is passive in that it employs the radiation of powerful military radio transmitters as the primary signal. In this instance the station at Cutler Maine was used, operating on a frequency of 24.0 KHz. In the field the EM-16 receiver is used to measure the vertical components of the secondary fields created by the primary signal. The receiver has two inputs, with two receiving coils built into the instrument. One coil has a normally vertical axis, the other is horizontal and tilt angle is calibrated in percentages. This is the in-phase component. The out-of- phase is obtained by balancing the remaining signal by using a known signal from the other coil.
- 3 -
The accuracy of the readings is 1% resolution. A total 744 in-phase and 744 out-of-phase readings were taken at 100 foot intervals along 13.5 miles of line.
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
The geological reconnaissance of the area indicates that several conductive zones of interest detected in the eastern portion of the property may be associated with contact zones between mafic and felsic volcanics. Over burden cover increases to the east and no geological evidence was found to explain these conductive zones. Extensive sampling and assaying throughout the property in all rock types failed to detect significant gold mineral ization. The reported gold showing (OGS) in a tension fracture hosted quartz vein within felsic volcanics on the south shore of Larson Bay was resampled several times with varying results. The vein is exposed inter- mittingly for 20 to 30 feet along the shore. Mineralization appears to be very localized (gossan) and the bulk of the vein material observed proved to be barren. Numerous quartz veins throughout the property have been prospected and trenched during the 1930's and 40's. The best potential for gold mineralization most probably lies in areas of intense carbonate alteration along fractures or shears within the felsic volcanic sequence. The western and central portions of the property have been extensively prospected. Preliminary co-relation of the EM-16 survey results and the geological data base suggests the eastern peninsula of Larson Bay has the most potential for as yet undetected gold mineralization.
Respectfully submitted,
