Dear Brethren:

v/e bring you greetings in the name of Christ Jesus our i^ord* Our sincere thanks gnes out to allof you for your prayers and support in the past months. welcome tliis opportuiiity to bring younews of our labors.

First of all let us report on our church activities here in the suburb of Rowallan Park. We havea new Bible School Superintendent this year. He is Raymond Daddy of Kabega Park, and works verywell with the children who are coming in ever increasing numbers. So much so that we have hadto add another class this week. Our church had a picnic recently that was .enjoyed by all.

Basil Cox completed a new pulpit for our use, and our men are now eager to put up a church building around it. That's enthusiasm!U

We are still reaching out into some of the other suburbs with weekly Bible Studies. At Humewoodby the sea we were thrilled to hear that one of our regular attenders, i^Ir, Denyer, had'acceptedthe Lord. At W'almer up by the airport a young Metliodist couple are growing in their understanding of God's Word, and here in Rowallan Park we are continuing our weekly studies in the book ofRU-'iAiNb.

Our quarterly Bible Nev^s magazine is going ahead well with the addition of a carbon ribbon typewriter and an addressograph wliich we are renting for 22.50 per month. Tjis will save on timeand printing expenses.

The African work here is going ahead so fast it is almost impossible to keep up with it! Dear Friends in Christ,

FORWARDING AGM

Mr. and Mrs. Herb V/oodford

514 Hobart St.Eau Claire, Wis. 54701

We thank the Lord foE each of you who have piayed for us and the work here in Port Elizabeth. We are especially grateful to all those who are supporting us financially and we pray daily thatthe Lord will bless you for your faithfulness and generosity* Your gifts and prayers have notbeen in vain as the Lord is blessing the workhere and we praise Him for it. Yesterday, Sunday, after the evening service the men of the congregation here in Rowallan Park met in Carroll's studyto consider the possibility of building a church in the near future. There were six men presentand all are very enthusiast about the future of the Lord's Church in Rowallan Park* There arefour plots available for a church building, parking lot, parsonage, etc* W}ien speaking to theman in charge of this township, he suggested that this property may be given to a church if theywill build immediately when it is given. So pray with us that the Lord's will might be done inthis matter as this is the only site available for a church in this area of Rowallan Park. Thenext section will not be developed for five to ten years. We have thirty Rand in the buildingfund and we need four hundred Rand for the deposit before building can start. But praise theLord it is a begimiing and the folk here want it!

Carroll is very busy working a five day week at Ford in the Accounting Dept. and keeping upwith all the meetings scheduled each evening, Saturdays and Sundays. Last Tuesday evening at theGelvandale Bible Study six people came forv/ard to confess Christ. On Sunday afternoon at theSwartlrops River they were baptized. These are Coloured folk and the services Carroll conductsfor them are all in Afrikaans. He got home from the baptismal service in time for a quick sandwich and to help me and the girls re-arrange the living room for the evening worship service. Theattendance for these meetings has been very good and of course this encourages us a lot. We start

ldfirs6me~choufses,~'theh'^lTpfure and"'then~hymns from~a tiny "Alexander"Hymn Book." (No musicis printed in these and sometimes the melodies are difficult, as they are are old English Hymns.)Carroll does his best on the piano (a loan from very dear friends), but almost every service weask, "Is there any one here who can play?" We take an evening offering and it is going into theBuilding liind. Carroll's sermons are interesting and inspiring (do you think I could be prejudice??) -(the congregation says so too) so again we thank the Lord for guiding Carroll in his preparation and study. After the evening message we turn the ceiling light off, and by the smallerlamps we have the Lord's Supper. The atmosphere is quiet and the Spirit of the Lord is impartedto each of us as we parttake and pray. The service is over but the Comforter remains with usthrou^ the week.

About four more weeks and then either "Timothy Carroll" or Oulie Nan" will be joining ourfamily. We are praying for <^75 more per month for tlie baby. It seems the past few months all wehave been doing is asking for money, but we are in financial difficulties and you folk are theonly ones we can turn to. So please be patient with us and pray with us that the Lord will supply as He sees fit. The cost of living in South Africa is soaring up and I know we are not theonly missionaries to feel it. Sometimes I can't believe that it could change so fast in just afew short years since we left in 1963•

As you have guessed Carroll did not write this newsletter. He is so busy, he asked me to.write it this time. I hope he or you folk won't be sorry. Its strictly an "amateur at work."

Good-bye for now and may God bless each of you as you serve Him.
