And Ithank each one of you who have prayed for me and helped me in my work not that I speakin r es pect o f need, for God has taught me to be content in every situation; but I amglad for your sake, because I know that God will reward you for a ll you do for Him.I t was my privilege l a s t week-end to vi s i t the brethren in Port E l izabeth, and to sharewith them som^lessons from I TIMOTHY I took th e economical Midnight Flight to P.E.and was met a t the a i rpor t by Desmond Amsterdam, a f r iend who serves as Publ ic P ro secu to ra t the Law Court. He attended par t of the lessons in the GELVANDALE area, and was mostimpressed by the zeal and dedication of the brethren t he re , for, knowing the people, hesa id , I t i s very hard to be a Chr is t ian in Gelvandale.50 were present a t the Sunday evening service, and 8 came forward to dedicate themselvesafresh to the Lord, and to ask for prayer for themselves, for others, and for th e leadersof the church. During the week-end I brought 4 lessons, conducted 1 workshop for e ldersand deacons, preached 2 messages,led in prayer a t Bloemendal, brought a devotionalmessage from Job a t Booysens Park, and led a discussion on church f inance in the homeof Brother Goliath. This l a s t was occassioned by the t ight grip which the MISSION exercisesover the finances of th e local congregations her e, c on tr ary both to scripture usage andt o th e p ra ct ic e o f o ur c hu rc he s in th e Uni ted S t a t e s .On one of my t r ips from Port Elizabeth to Booysens Park I picked up a High School studentnamed Peter . I had an oppor tuni ty to explain to him from I TIMOTHY t ha t God wants us tohave love from a pure hear t , a good conscience, and a strong fa i th .I also received a long-distance ca l l from the TRAIN MINISTRY asking me to bring twomessages a t the i r May 31 meeting on the theme T he Inward and Outward Journeys . Theidea is to present the Inner spir i tual growth and Outer proclamation of the gospel.I also visi ted Gordon Konstable a t Tygerberg Hospital . He had suffered a head injury ina motorcycle accident . There were a number of other v i s i to r s and pat ien ts present as Ibrought a short message and prayer. Brother Maille, who preaches a t BEL HAR injured hisback trying to apprehend an in truder, and Brother James and I v is it ed h is home to bringa message to the family. I have a lso rece ived a ca l l to make a preaching v i s i t to theCISKEI in the near future, and I ask your prayers for me on th i s t r ip .Our Monday meet ings a t LENTEGEUR a re c on tin uin g on the theme o f the Ch ri st ia n L i fe .This wee k s lesson centred on the family.Brother Fan i e s family in MANENBERG a re es^er ienc ing severe d i f f i cu l t i e s as BrotherFanie has l e f t home and gone to KNYSNA Please pray for them in th i s t rying s i tua t ion .We have prayed with them, and t r i ed to help with the i r f inanc ia l problems. BrotherJames and I wi l l be v i s i t i ng them aga in t h i s Tuesday, Lord wi l l i ng .At our Cottage Meetings in the Hazeldene area on Wednesdays we a re c on tinu ing our s tud ieson Chr is t ian Marriage. This i s a subjec t which needs to be taught much among ourpeople . Last week we discussed the pa r t of the wife in marriage.On Thursday evenings a t PORTLANDS we are now enter ing a new ser i es of Bible s tudies onthe book of ROMANS; while on Sunday mornings I am preaching on the book of PHILIPPIANS.This Sunday we had two vis i to r s , and there were also two who came forward for prayer.^ j ^ ^

Jacob, you wi l l remember, decided to take h is fami ly andgo back t o th e p lac e where had first met God. At th isseason of thanksgiving we have so much to be thankful for . God has created us in Hisown image. He has brea thed in to us the brea th of l i f e . In th e a f t e r noon at BERNADINO EJEIGHTS I gave alesson on Life in the Spi r i t Last Monday a t LENTEGEUR where we are studying thebook of Revelation, our subjec t was The L ette rs to the 7 Churches. It i s to the lukewarm Chris t ian t ha t the Lord says , even today, I am s tanding a t your hear ts door andknocking. At a recent house-churchmeeting there in the McClune home I spoke on John 14. The Lord said., Do not allowyour hear ts to be t roubled . Keep on t ru s t ing in God, and keep on t rus t ing in me. Hisconcern fo r h is d i s c ip le s led him to speak these words on the eve of h is cruc i f ix ion .He knew t h a t t h i s would be a blow to t h e i r f a ith bu t urged them to keep on t r u s t i nghim. In th e same way we a l so come up aga ins t blows to our f a i t h bu t we must notpermit these th ings to trou ble our hear t s . We must keep on t ru st in g in the Lord.At the home of ROTHER DUNJU on Thursday we s tudied Romans 8, where we learned tha twhen we keep t rus t ing God we lea rn to wai t pat ient ly and conf ident ly and the HolySpi r i t helps us with our problems and in our prayers , and we know t ha t God i s workinga l l things together for good i f we love Him and fit in to His plans fo r our l i fe .^ ^
