    Workshop Registration InformationWorkshops are approved for training credit by the MSDE Ofice of Child Care Credentialing Branch

    Registration. All workshop participants must pre-register NO EXCEPTIONS. Participants are required to register and pay for workshops in advance.Registration is accepted by phone, mail or in person. The training line for phone-in registration is operational from 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday.Visa or MasterCard required for all registrations done by phone. Mail registration form to Child Care Links of Harford/Cecil Counties 2105 Laurel BushRd., Suite 105, Bel Air, MD 21015. Child Care Links does not accept personal checks.

    Fees Paid are NON-REFUNDABLE. Should you miss a workshop, credit or transfer to another workshop may be given if Child Care Links is notiiedatleast 24 hours prior to the workshop. If after hours, please leave a message on Child Care Links answering service. No credit or refunds are issued forNo Shows. Call 443-512-0462 with any questions or concerns about our refund or credit policies. Any credits issued are good for one year from thedate of issue.

    Late Arrivals. Workshops begin at stated time. Our instructors reserve the right to refuse admittance to any workshop for any participant arriving 15minutes or more past the start of the workshop. Credit or transfer will be issued at the discretion of the Child Care Links staff for any participantturned away from training for lateness.

    Cancellation or change policy. Child Care Links may need to cancel a workshop due to lack of enrollment; in this event, a CCL staff member willcontact you at the phone number or address you provided upon registration. If we need to cancel a workshop and you do not wish to be transferred to

    another training, you will be issued credit good for one year or refunded fees paid for the canceled workshop. If you are phoning in your registrationplease verify that we have the correct contact information, including more than one telephone number where you can be reached.

    Rude and/or disrespectful behavior during workshop will not be tolerated. Please rememb er to exercise good judgment and respect forboth the trainer and other participants in your session. It is okay to disagree with facts or opinions presented by the trainer or other participants butplease remember to remain professional. Should you violate this policy, the instructor may ask you to leave the workshop and you will not be re-admitted, nor will you receive a refund for the class.

    Certiicates. Core of Knowledge certiicates will be issued at the conclusion of the training session for all participants who successfully com-plete all requirements set forth for the course.

    Child care is not provided during workshops. Workshops provided by Child Care Links are intended for adults only. Please make o ther

    arrangements for care of your children during workshop hours.

    Workshop locations. Child Care Links has two locations where we offer trainings. One location is at our main ofice on 2105 Laurel Bush Rd.Suite 105 Bel Air, MD 21015. The second location is at the YMCA of Elkton on 25 YMCA Blvd. Elkton, Md. 21921. If you need directions to either loca-tions please let us know upon registering for the trainings.

    Inclement Weather -Please note that the training department of Child Care Links follows Harford & Cecil Counties Public School Weather Policy forclosings and delayed openings. If you are scheduled for a workshop and Harford or Cecil County Schools close for inclement weather, our workshopwill be canceled. During the weekend our workshops will be canceled if Parks and Rec. cancels s chool activities. If, for any reason, this changes, a CCLstaff member will contact you. Attempts will be made to reschedule any canceled workshop.

    1 -MSDE Orientation for Accreditation (P) 6:30pm-8:30pm -$5 -Join anMSDE Accreditation Validator for an overview of the Child Care/HeadStart accreditation process. Become acquainted with standards,supporting documents, and rating process. Learn about the validationprocess and discuss selecting a self-appraisal team. This workshop isrequired for programs pursuing MSDE Accreditation and Re -Accreditation.

    2 -Child Portfolios(CD) 6:30pm-9:30pm -$25 -In this workshopparticipants will be able to deine portfolios, what they are and how they

    can be used. Ef fectively document a childs development, conduct anobservation and record data, and use portfolios as a tool to evaluate andimprove the overall structure of their program.

    6 -Math Fun for Preschoolers(CU) 6:30pm-9:30pm -$15 -Participantswill be able to identify the important concepts and skills preschoolchildren can learn. You will be able to provide opportunities for childrento use mathematical thinking skills everyday.

    7 -Ants in their Pants (CU) 6:30pm-9:30pm -$15 -Sun up tosundown, extra-busy children have an endless supply of energy andremain on the move throughout the day. This workshop offers tried andtrue techniques to help you provide the best support to active learners.(Check out th e Healthy Harford Flyer)

    9-Basic Sign Language (SN) 6pm

    individuals in the use of basic sign language for immediatecommunication and/or the preparation for teaching children.

    16 -Maryland Excels -What s Next Support Series -Improving Your Daily Schedule 6pm-8pm -$FREE$Having a developmentally appropriate schedule is arequirement for Maryland Excels. Come and learn more aboutwhat daily routines and activities should be included in yourschedule to enhance learning opportunities and help yourprogram succeed. Participants will also make and take yourown schedule to use in your childcare. (Held at Child CareLinks).

    18-Emergency and Disaster Preparedness (HSN, P) 9am-3pm -$30 This class is designed for caregivers to becomefamiliar with COMAR regulations regarding emergency anddisaster preparedness for child care programs. Participantswill complete a written emergency and disaster plan for theirchild care programs; gain an understanding of disasters thatare likely to occur in Maryland and understand why theirprograms should prepare for emergencies and disasters. Thisworkshop meets the 6 hour COMAR requirement for childcare centers, family providers, and family child careapplicants. Please Bring a Lunch!

    20 - Cooking with Kids(CU, HSN) 6:30pm-9:30pm -$15This class will have your children helping in the kitchen from

    an early age! Prepare tasty and nutritious snacks and mealsthat only require a few ingredients. This class is designed toteach children the basics about cooking, kitchen safety andnutrition while offering recipes for letter pancakes, pirateboats, popcorn balls, multi-colored crayons, edible play doughand more!

    21 -Child Abuse & Neglect (HSN) 6:15pm-9:15pm -$25This course will help you identify signs and symptoms ofvarious types of child abuse and neglect. You will also learnappropriate responses and reporting expectations accordingto Federal Law. We will discuss real life examples of bothabuse and neglect and disc uss reasons this is so prevalent inour society.

    23 -Wo rking with Parents(CO) 6:30pm-9:30pm -$25 -The mosteffective child care programs are those that actively promote andencourage parent participation. When staff work together withparents as a team, they can share and discuss information to meetchildrens needs. This is a key component to the success of anyprogram. This class is designed to foster a better staff/parentrelationship and address common issues that staff face when workingwith children and parents.

Have you everfelt like youve had enough of the day -to-day stress that can weigh youdown in child care? Youre not alone; there are many people who feelthe same way. There is help! In this training, we will learn strategiesfor avoiding burnout in childcare and share steps to being stress free.

You willbecome familiar with the different types of physical movement andwhy they are important in a child's physical development. Lessonplanning is a crucial part of helping children grow and learn whilethey are in the daily care of their childcare providers. Thisworkshop focuses on the elements of lesson planning that includedesigning, implementing, and evaluating learning outcomes.

    9 -Thinking Outside the Box -After School Activities (CU, HSN)6:30pm -9:30pm -$15 -Learn how to think "Outside the Box" whenplanning lessons for school aged children. We will integrate literacy,

    science, math problem solving, art, music, itness and nutritionactivities during this interactive workshop. In addition, we willdiscuss the basics of STEM education and engages in STEMactivities.

    13- Emergency and Disaster Preparedness(HSN,P) 9am-3pm

    $30 -This class is designed for caregivers to become familiar withCOMAR regulations regarding emergency and disaster

    preparedness for child care programs. Participants willcomplete a written emergency and disaster plan for their child careprograms; gain an understanding of disasters that arelikely to occur in Maryland and understand why their programsshould prepare for emergencies and disasters. This workshop meetsthe 6 hour COMAR requirement for child care centers, familyproviders, and family child care applicants. Please Bring a Lunch !

    15 -Building Self Esteem in Children (CD) 6:30pm-9:30pm -$15 -Learn theprinciples of self-esteem and how to recognize childrens feelings. How do weenhance a childs self-esteem?
