CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE

Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS

Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-

179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit.

Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the

deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided.

The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly

care is $4 per hour; payment must be made in advance. This service may

be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care.

Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in

advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space

limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed

Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments

will be refunded.

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE

Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between

CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE

childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would

like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service

your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must

be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

SUMMER CAMP REGISTRATION

Families currently enrolled in School Age Service (SAS) can register their

children for Summer Camp beginning April 1st. For those NOT currently

utilizing SAS, registration starts May 1. Camps are open to children

registered with CYS Services in 1st thru 5th grades. Cost is based on total

family income. School Age Services is located in Bldg. 616 Replacement

Avenue. For more information call 596-0238.

ARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDING

Do you want a better understanding of the Amy life? The Army Family

Team Building (AFTB) classes will help you to not just cope with, but also

understand, military life. With AFTB you will gain the knowledge and

self-confidence to take responsibility for yourself and your family while

your sponsor is away. It’s training for a way of life that prepares

you in America’s Army to function at the highest level. Many of these

courses can be applied toward college credits, resume/career building,

and self-development. Classes are FREE and open to the public.

Classes consist of three levels and you are encouraged to take all three.

Child care is available through CYS Services. For more information call

GREAT SPRING CLEANING FMWR YARD SALE REGISTRATION

Need to get rid of some items? Fort Leonard Wood’s Great Spring

Cleaning Yard Sale on April 6 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the

Baker Theater auxiliary parking lot. Cost is $10 if registered by

April 5 at 3:00 pm / $15 day of, includes two parking spots. Tables

are available for $5 each and must be reserved by April 5. Registration

will take place at the central issue desk inside the Davidson Fitness

Center. Yard sale is open to the public. Fort Leonard Wood Thrift Shop

will be on site to collect donations until 12:00 pm.

The following items cannot be sold: weapons, food items, retail items

(Avon, Tupperware, Scentsy etc.) For more information call 596-6912.

Family & MWR will be accepting bids on displayed NAF water craft April

1-4 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm at the NAF warehouse Sale at Bld. 2347

Louisiana Avenue. Deadline to submit bids are April 4 at 3:00 pm. Bids

will be awarded and posted at Bldg 2347 on April 5th after 12:30pm.

YOUTH BASEBALL/SOFTBALL CLINIC: REGISTRATION

CYS Services Youth Sports & Fitness program will host a

Youth Baseball/Softball Clinic May 1 & 2 from 6:00 pm

– 7:00 pm. Cost is $20 per child, includes t-shirt. Youth

will have the opportunity to learn new skills and get ready

for baseball/softball season. Clinic will take place at Hill

Topper Field. Clinic is open to registered youth ages 4-13.

Youth must have a current physical good through season,

turned in with registration. Registration will take place at the Parent

Central Services located in Bldg. 470, Rm. 1126.

CYS Services Youth Sports and Fitness Youth Baseball/Softball and T-

ball program begins May 6. Cost is $45 per participant, includes uniform

and trophy. Youth must have a current physical, good through the end of

the season, turned in with registration. Child must be registered with the

CYS Services. Registration will take place at the Parent Central Services

office located inside Bldg. 470, Rm. 1126, office hours are 7:30 am – 4:30

pm. Practice begins May 7 / Season runs from May 7 – June 30.

SENIOR GOLF TOUR

The Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting the Senior Tour, with shot gun

start at 9am. Cost is $30 for Annual Green Fees Patron members and

$35 per non-AGFP, includes green fee, cart, range practice and

breakfast. Tour is open to the public ages 50 yrs. and older. Register at

the Piney Valley Golf Course located on FLW 20, off Water Intake Rd.

WOMEN’S GOLF CLINIC

The Piney Valley Golf Course will be hosting the Women’s

Golf Clinic. This clinic is designed as a beginning golf class

for adult ladies. Instructions will include rules of golf, etiquette,

golf procedures, driving range and course lessons. Cost is $100 per

person and includes a 10% discount on ladies clothing, shoes or golf

club purchases during the clinic at the PVGC pro shop. Clinic is held

from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and is open to the public. Register at the Piney

YOUTH TABLE TENNIS CLUB

Fort Leonard Wood Youth Sports & Fitness and Pippin Youth Center are

teaming up to offer a Table Tennis Club. The club is FREE to any

registered child in 6th through 12th grade. The club will meet on Saturday

afternoons from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm at the Pippin Youth Center. All

athletes will receive one on one training to help improve their game. All

levels of skill are welcome. Participants will train to try and become the

Fort Leonard Wood champion and ultimately represent Fort Leonard

Wood at the Show Me Games. To register for the Pippin Youth Center

please visit Bld. 470 room 1126 or pick up a packet at Pippin Youth

Would you like to learn more about photography? The Arts and Crafts

Frame Shop is hosting Photo 101. This is a great class to cover the

basics of photography, taught by photographer Mike Curtis. The

workshops will be held rain or shine so dress appropriately. Seating is

PT IN THE WOODS

Celebrate the Month of the Military Child with your children with a 30-

minute aerobic workout for Service Members and their families at the

Gerlach Track from 6:30 am-7:30 am. First 100 children receive a FREE

t-shirt and all active duty parents that participate will receive a voucher

that can be used for 1 FREE day of PT (with Commander’s approval).

CY&SS HIRED! MINI TEEN CAREER FAIR

Join Child, Youth & School Services, Hired! program on April 10 at Pippin

Youth Center for our 1st Annual “Mini Teen Career Fair”. Employers,

local colleges, military recruiters, and others resources will be available

on site from 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Possible interview so come dressed for

success!!! Ages 15 -18 or grades 9 – 12.

COMMANDER’S GOLF SCRAMBLE

The Commander’s Golf Scramble will be hosted by the Piney Valley Golf

Course with a 12:00 pm shotgun start. Scramble consists of a 4 person

team; cost is $35 for non AGFP’s or $30 for Advanced Green Fee

Patrons (AGFP) includes greens fees, cart and range practice from 11:00

pm – 12:00 pm. Bring your friends, co-workers or battle buddies for a

great afternoon of golfing. Food and beverages are provided at each

ARMY TEN MILER TIME TRIALS

Attention all Active Duty Service Members are welcome to come out and

qualify during the time trials for the Fort Leonard Wood Army Ten Miler

Team. The team will consist of Active Duty Service members from Fort

Leonard Wood. The fastest 6 runners will be part of the FLW Team in the

Active Duty Mixed (men and women) category. Representatives will fly to

Washington D.C. to compete in this year’s Army Ten Miler – entry fee,

airline ticket, hotel room and per diem will be paid for by DFMWR. Trials

BASS TOURNAMENT

The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) will be hosting their

annual Bass Tournament starting at 7:00 am (or first safelight), weigh-in

is at 3:00 pm. Entry fee per boat is $40 and an optional $10 fee for Big

Bass. Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center or LORA for entry

forms/rules. Open to the public. LORA is located 50 miles NW of Fort

Leonard Wood on McCubbins Drive off a Route A.

Spring is in the air and the FMWR recreational complex is finally open for

the season! Bring the family out to enjoy a round of mini golf or a few laps

around the go kart track. The Rec Plex will be open April 13 through

Memorial Day, Wednesdays thru Fridays, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and on

weekends from 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Let the fun begin!

Challenge yourself and your friends! The Outdoor Adventure Center is

hosting a 5 on 5 Paintball Tournament, bring your team of 5 and compete

Pianos, a night of music and laughter at this all

request interactive show. Show will take place at

the Audie Murphy Community Center. Doors

Show begins 8:00 pm. $10 early entry tickets

are available at the ITR office. Those with early

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons

Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including

weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo

ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver

(plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns

must be in good working condition. Class is open to the public 21 yrs.

Individuals bringing a privately owned weapon onto the installation for

authorized activities such as hunting, dog training activities or

marksmanship events, are required to register weapons. Privately owned

weapons can be registered between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday

through Friday, at the Main Gate Visitor’s Center, Building 100.

NEWCOMER’S ORIENTATION

Gather great information about Fort Leonard Wood and the surrounding

community at the Newcomer’s Orientation from 8:30 am-12:00 am at the

FREE Child Care is offered for Newcomers Orientation at the Child

Development Center (CDC) but space is limited so make your

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting their annual Archery

Tournament from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Tournament will be a normal 3D

shoot, a great opportunity to test your capabilities in judging yardage and

shot placement. Dare to show off your archery skills? Registration will

begin at 10:00 am. Cost is $10 adults / $5 youth, enter to win a free bow!

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an educational class

specifically for women. The course will teach women how to handle and

fire a gun. Participants will learn the different types of guns, what they are

used for, how to use them, and how to clean them. From 10:00 am – 3:00

pm the course includes a trip to the range to fire a few different types of

guns. Cost is $20 per person, 18yrs and older, and includes lunch and

ammo. Registration must be made by April 14. For more information call

PITCH, HIT, & RUN

The CYS Youth Sports and Fitness is hosting a FREE local Pitch, Hit, &

Run competition from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at Morris Field. Registration

begins at 5:00 pm, no registration fee required. Competition is open to

youth ages 7-14, proof of age will be required at registration. No

registration fee. Winners of our local competition, in their age group, will

have an opportunity to advance to the sectional level of competition.

Pitch, Hit, & Run is an official skills program of MLB that is designed to

provide youth with an opportunity to compete in a competition that

recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. Event is

OUTDOOR MOVIE CAMPOUT

Family & MWR invites you to the Outdoor Movie Campout at Happy

Hollow Park with a double feature “The Great Outdoors” and “Without a

Paddle”. Enjoy a movie with friends and family under the stars! Movie

begins at 8:00 pm. Movies are FREE and open to the public. Bring your

own blanket, tent, sleeping bags and chairs. No pets allowed. No show if

rain or high winds. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Kick off your summer with the Spring Fling Softball Tournament starting

at 9:00 am at Sports Complex B. Cost is $125 per team. Registration

deadline is April 25. Tournament is open to the public. ASA rules apply.

The Pippin Youth Center’s HIRED! is an apprenticeship program offered

through the CYS Services that is designed to meet the workforce-

preparation and secondary education needs of eligible youth. HIRED! is

FREE and open to registered youth in grades 9-12. Must be able to work

15 hours per week to earn $500 and must register by may 10. The Pippin

Youth Center is located in Bldg. 9625 Young Street.

PIPPIN YOUTH CENTER SUMMER CAMPS: REGISTRATION

The Pippin Youth Center is hosting a summer camp program beginning

June 3 for youth currently enrolled in 6th – 12th grade. Registrations

begin May 1at Pippin youth Center. Each camp requires a signed

permission slip and a $25 deposit which will be returned on the final day

of the camp if youth attended each day.

Ready, set, go! The CYS Youth Sports and Fitness program will be

hosting a Hershey Local Youth Track Meet at Gerlach Track starting at

10:00 am. The meet will consist of running events and some field events.

The best times or distances are based on age and will move onto the

district meet in Jefferson City, Missouri. Meet is open to youth ages 9-14.

ARMY TEN MILER TIME TRIALS

Attention all Active Duty Service Members are welcome to come out and

qualify during the time trials for the Fort Leonard Wood Army Ten Miler

Team. The team will consist of Active Duty Service members from Fort

Leonard Wood. The fastest 6 runners will be part of the FLW Team in the

Active Duty Mixed (men and women) category. Representatives will fly to

Washington D.C. to compete in this year’s Army Ten Miler – entry fee,

airline ticket, hotel room and per diem will be paid for by DFMWR. Trials

The Frame Shop offers a one-on-one class. Learn to mat, mount, and

secure your artwork in a frame. Students are introduced to frame shop

equipment and safety procedures. You will also learn to choose the right

mat color, determine margins, frame joinery, mounting techniques, and

frame closures. Students will receive a frame shop card that allows you

to access the self-help area. Cost for class is $20 plus supplies. Must be

18 yrs. and older to participate. Must bring in your project you wish to

CYS SERVICES- THE “I'm Alone” PROGRAM

CYS Services offers I'm Alone, a FREE program to help prepare youth to

stay home alone. Youth will learn to increase personal safety skills,

demonstrate responsibility and other positive character traits, recognize

and handle emergencies, identify a Family & Friend Support System,

prepare nutritious snacks, and practice good decision making. Workshop

is held every 3rd Saturday at School Age Services, for youth ages 11 to

18yrs and parents. A $20 deposit is required and will be fully refunded

Gymnastics are offered to children and youth from 18 months to 18

years old. Classes are available Monday – Friday afternoons and

Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Academic Tutoring in reading, writing, math, test prep, SAT, ACT and

GED prep are available for students from 6 – 18 years old. Please call

Martial Arts - Tae Kwon Do meets Monday and Wednesday evenings at

Audie Murphy’s Community Center. Classes offered are one time a

week for $35 per month or two times a week for $65 per month. Sign up

for 2 days a week class and you can attend Grand Master Prosser’s

Tuesday and Thursday classes in Rolla for FREE! Start-up fee is now

$75 (regular price, $159).

Dance – Pre-ballet and ballet I, II and III through the School of

Performing Arts are held on Thursdays between 1600 – 1900 for children

junior hip hop, and hip hop for school age children and youth. Cost is $40

per month.

Swimming – Swimming lessons for ages 6 months to 18 years old are

Music and Movement – includes activities like creative movement,

finger plays and hands on activities with child sized instruments.

The Outdoor Adventure Center offers a

gathering place for outdoor enthusiast,
