PROPS offers children’s theater experience, auditions begin May 2Missoula Children’s Theater, a nationally acclaimed educational-enhancement organization focusing on chil-dren’s theater is coming to Fort Sill with PROPS, Plays, Recitals, Orchestration, Plays and Stagecraft, for a week-long theatre experience from June 13-18. Nye Library celebrates National Children’s Book Week May 2-8Join Nye Library May 2–8 to enjoy the displays of popular children’s books all week long and get some infor-mation about the authors. Kids, enjoy a craft Thursday, May 5 at 4:30 p.m. for a chance to make your very own book. The event is open to the military community.

Sports hosts Zumbathon May 5 at Elmer Thomas ParkA Zumbathon is slated May 5 from 6-8 p.m. at Elmer Thomas Park, on the stage area on the east side of park. There will be two hours of Zumba with seven instructors. Zumbathon is part of the Fitness in the Park program with Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, Lawton Parks and Recreation and Family and MWR. The event is in celebration of Cinco de Mayo and they will promote STRONG B.A.N.D.S. and give out wristbands to the par-ticipants so they can show their commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle.

Military spouses recognized with Spouse-a-paloosa May 6In honor of Fort Sill’s military spouses, MWR will once again host a Military Spouse Appreciation Night. This year’s event, “Spouse-a-palooza,” will be on Friday, May 6 at the Patriot Club Ballroom from 6 – 9 p.m. This event is free for military spouses and the festivities include dinner, a night of pampering, door prizes, and de-stressing tools. Community Dinner served May 6 at Patriot ClubThe Community Membership Dinner is May 6 at the Patriot Club. Cocktails are at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. The dinner is free to club members and costs $16.50 for non-members; $7.75 for children 12 and under, and is free to children, 5 and under. First Pooch Plunge hosted at LETRA May 7Fort Sill Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the Fort Sill Stray Pet Facility and Vet Clinic will host the 2011 Inaugural Pooch Plunge May 7 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area. The event, held during National Pet Week and Sports and Fitness Awareness Month, will include fun events for dogs and their owners. Events include: a Pooch Plunge into Lake Elmer Thomas, a Tail-wagger Swagger Fun Run/Walk and a Canine Agility Course. STRONG B.A.N.D.S. will promote and give out wristbands to the participants so they can show their commitment to an active and healthy lifestyle. Youth Center hosts Mother’s Day lunch, movie May 7The Youth Center is hosting a Mother’s Day luncheon and a movie at the Youth Center on May 7 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Teens in 6th through 12th grade are welcome to bring their Mother or a special guest. The youth will also be decorating cupcakes for their mothers for dessert. The teens can also make a scrapbooking card and will be taking pictures. There is no cost for the event. Spring postwide Garage Sale slated May 7The Post-wide Garage Sale is May 7 in the 1-78th Field Artillery parking lot, on Crane Road nextto the Behavioral Health Building, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The event is open to the public for shopping. For infor-mation, call (580) 442-9480.

Patriot Club serves Mother’s Day Brunch May 8Treat mom to a scrumptious meal on her special day with the Mother’s Day Brunch at the Patriot Club. There will be two seating times: 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The price is $18.50 for non-members, $18.00 for members, $7.50 for children ages 6 - 12 years and free for children 5 years and under. The meal will feature shrimp boil, slow cooked roast beef, squash and zucchini, hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage, mashed potatoes and gravy, rice, waffle station, salad station, assorted desserts, rolls and beverages. Nye Library hosts Mother-Child Tea Party May 7 at 10 a.m.Kids of all ages can do something special for Mom on Mother’s Day by bringing mom to a Mother – Child Tea Party May 7 from 10 a.m. to noon and enjoy some light refreshments, make a special gift, and spend time with Mom. Supplies are limited to 50 individuals so don’t forget to register at the circulation desk. This is a come and go event, so come when you want and leave when you want. The event is open to the military community.

Fort Sill to host first Polo Match in decades May 8 on Polo FieldFort Sill will host the Fort Sill Polo Classic featuring an exhibition match with the Cross Timber Polo Club of Bixby, Oklahoma on the Fort Sill Polo Field May 8 at 2 p.m. This event is the first polo match held in 50 years to commemorate the history of polo on Fort Sill. There will be a meet and greet at 1:30 p.m. at the Polo Club. The match is free and open to the public.

Nye Library’s Adult Book Club May 8 at 2 p.m.Join Nye Library’s Adult Book Club May 8 at 2 p.m. This month’s book is “The Creature from Jekyll Island,” by G. Edward Griffin. Commissary hosts Family Fun Festival May 14The Fort Sill Commissary hosts the 2011 Family Fun Festival May 14. Kids Day events include A Basketball free throw contest open to single soldiers and kids and a potato sack race or three- legged race for the children. Events include: Army bouncing, exercise demonstrations such as stationary bike and treadmill, a clinic con-ducting blood pressure screening and an information table, a Fire and Emergency services information table and family services information table. Single Soldiers participate in push up contest (gifts awards to winners) and show the young kids how to do proper push up. There will also be a shopping cart race for single Soldiers. There will be numerous demos throughout the commissary including a food show in the Deli/Bakery; Hotdogs and sodas will be provided free by Pepsi and Kraft. Tyson will give away a grill; C&C will give away a bicycle; Red Bull will give a His & Hers Canoe; Pepsi will give away a grill and a basketball goal; Coke will give away an XBox-360; and Kellogg’s and Keebler will give away four NASCAR jackets, XBox Connects and games, and a basketball throw game.

ERP offers social networking with tough career transitions May 14A Team Sill Social Networking Program is May 14 at 7 p.m. at the Fort Sill Polo Club. The event features a 20-minute talk with Elisabeth H. Sanders-Park, author, speaker and president of Tough Career Transitions Ex-pert. There will be a question and answer portion and book signing. Boater Safety Class offered May 14A Boater Safety Class is May 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fort Sill Conference Center. Sign up for the free

Family Campout slated May 14-15 at LETRADust off the camping gear and pitch your tent at LETRA for the first-ever Family Campout on May 14-15. The campout begins Saturday at 1 p.m. and runs through Sunday at noon. Camping has never been better with tons of activities to keep the family busy like arts and crafts, archery, canoeing,

TOBC hosts Pro Am, PBA Regional Tournaments May 20-22Twin Oaks Bowling Center will host a Sweeper and Pro-Am Tournament May 20 at 5 and 7 p.m.; the Profes-sional Bowlers Association Regional Bowling Tournament May 21 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and the PBA Regional Bowling Tournament finals May 22 from 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m. All events are open for public viewing. LETRA Adventure Miniature Golf Tournament slated May 21The LETRA Miniature Golf Tournament is May 21 at 1 p.m. The miniature golf course has been renovated and new features added. The tournament will be a scramble start with four to five member teams beginning at each of the 18 holes. Entry is $5 per person. There will be 18-hole challenge and bragging rights. Cherish the Gift of Summer Fun offered May 21Cherish the Gift of Summer Fun is May 21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Resiliency Training Campus. This one-day family friendly seminar features 15 different classes for all ages and interests. Teens can learn the basics of summer job searches or how to create a first job budget. Parents will love discovering ways to encourage summer reading and outdoor fun. All family members can participate in Geo-Caching or a Bicycle Safety round up. Summer Reading Program kicks off 1pm May 21 at Nye LibrarySummer is right around the corner and Nye Library has some fantastic reading opportunities for kids in June and July. Register your children, birth through teens, at our Summer Reading Program Kick-off on May 21 from 1-3 p.m. There will be Summer Reading Program information and registration, balloon animals, fun carnival games, and prizes. Registration can be done anytime from May through July 21. Be on the lookout for the 8-week Summer Reading Program in May, June, and July. Parents must come in to sign the registration forms and pick up the information before their children can participate in the Summer Reading Program. The program is open to the military community.

Nye Library offers Microsoft 2007 Publisher classes May 24 and 28 at 1 p.m.If you want to learn about Microsoft 2007 Publisher, sign up at Nye Library for a free class on the software program. The class is offered from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24 or Saturday, May 28. Class size is limited to 15 indi-viduals. Children

Family and Soldier Support Training May 25 Join Army Community Service May 25 from 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m. for the Family and Soldier Support Training, a day of training on FRG Leadership. Topics include FRG Basics, Roles and Responsibilities, Resources, Fund-ing and more. The training is geared for FRG leaders, commanders and rear detachment commanders, but anyone involved with the FRG may attend in an effort to have a better understanding. LETRA hosts monthly Fishing Tournament May 26Everyone is invited to come out and test their fishing skills or just have some fun at Lake Elmer Thomas Rec-reation Area’s Fishing Tournament May 26 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Participant will fish for a different species each time out. The May tournament will be fishing for bass. A valid Oklahoma State Fishing license is required and can be purchased at the LETRA Country Store. The top three places will receive payouts. Nye Library hosts Science Explosion May 26 Join Nye Library May 26 at 4:30 p.m. for the Science Explosion and explore the exciting world of science. Participants will make some interesting discoveries and maybe even some hands-on experiments. The program lasts from 4:30–5:30 p.m. The event is open to the military community.

Youth Center trip to Six Flags planned May 27The Youth Center offers a Six Flags Over Texas trip for members on Friday May 27. There are only 45 spots available. Participants must be a registered member of the YC, fill out permission slip and pay to hold a spot. Cost is $40 and that includes transportation, ticket to get in, sack lunch on the bus, and meal voucher for Six Flags. Will leave the center at 8 a.m. and return around 11 p.m.

Impact Zone offers aTexas Hold ’em Tournament May 27Texas Hold ‘em is back at the Impact Zone on May 27. Sign-up at 5:30 p.m., the game starts at 6 p.m. The Im-pact Zone will host another Texas Hold ’em event with the finals on June 17 when the stakes are even higher.

Women get back to Nature with Outdoor Recreation Wildflower Walk May28Enjoy the Wildlife Refuge on a bus tour and moderate hike to view the wild May flowers of Oklahoma May 28 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. There is a $5 cost for the event, which is part of the new Women in Nature program. Teen- Summer Reading Program begins May 31at Nye LibraryThe first session of the Summer Reading Program for Teens begins May 31 from 1-2 p.m. Come get inspired to read for prizes, create cool crafts, and participate in neat activities. The reading program is open to the military community.

Youth Competitive Swim Team runs May-AugustYouth, ages 18 and under; are invited to join the Youth Competitive swim team. The cost, which is $65, covers goggles, swimsuit, swimmers cap, trophy and T-shirt. Participants new to the team must tryout before register-ing. Tickets on sale now for Army Concert Tour featuring Miranda Lambert July 2Tickets are on sale now for the 2011 Army Concert Tour Saturday, July 2 at the Fort Sill Polo Field with coun-try superstar Miranda Lambert headlining the show. The concert, which occurs before Monday’s July 4 celebra-tion, will kick off the Independence Day celebration. The gates open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 6:20 p.m. Lambert will headline the concert along with special guests Merle Haggard and Stoney LaRue. The concert is open to the public and tickets are available at Stripes stores in Lawton, Duncan, Altus and Wichita Falls, Crutcher’s Western Wear, Mega Cleaners and online at www.sillmwr.com. On Fort Sill, tickets are available at the Welcome Center (bldg 4700), Twin Oaks Bowling Center, the Impact Zone and Little Java Café. Fitness in the Park offered Saturdays at Elmer Thomas ParkThe Lawton Fort Sill community is invited to get active with the Fitness in the Park classes. The free classes are from 9-10 a.m. every Saturday at the lakeside stage on the east side of Elmer Thomas Park. The free classes are offered to the community through a partnership with Fort Sill Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, Lawton Parks and Recreation and the Comanche County Health Department. Each Saturday will be a different class to encourage families to find something they enjoy doing together and to get everyone outside and active together. For more information, call (580) 442-6175.

CYSS extended hours for evening, weekend child careThe School Age Center and Grierson Child Development Center will be open Friday, May 6 from 7-11 p.m. for the Friday special opening and Saturday, May 14 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The Youth Center is open every Friday until 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 2-10 p.m. For information, call Parent Central Services at (580) 442-3927.

EFMP offers activities in May •The Exceptional Family Member Program families will go bowling at the Twin Oaks Bowling Center, May 26 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Two free games and shoes are included. •Camp Cowabunga volunteer applications are being accepted through May 20. Camp Cowabunga is a one-week summer camp for children with moderate to severe special needs. This summer, the camp is slated June 20-24 at the Fort Sill Patriot Club. P.H.A.T. Club competition underwayThe weight loss competition for members of the P.H.A.T. (Pretty Hot and Tempting) Club is underway. Mem-bers have divided into three teams and each team has a trainer as team leader. The teams are PHAT Babes, Team Caliente and Number One Stunners. The team leaders will also sign the teams up for the President’s Challenge and log in the hours exercised and the kind of activity performed by the team members. The team that wins a medal in the President’s Challenge and loses the most weight and body fat percent before July will win the competition and will be recognized with an award. Automotive Skills Center offers facility, staff and classes for automotive careThe Automotive Skills Center can fix your car if you don’t have time. The knowledgeable staff offers repairs, tune-ups, brake jobs, and more. Make your own vehicle repairs and save a bundle at the center. The center hosts automotive repair classes and movies every month. A mandatory safety class, which is required before using the facility, is offered 30 minutes after opening. Bay rentals start at $4 per hour. The Automotive Skills Center, located at 2503 Ringgold Road, is open Thursday from 3-10 p.m.; Friday from 2-10 p.m.; and Saturday - Monday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. For informa-tion, call (580) 442-5152.

Hourly care available at Grierson CDCThe Alice Grierson Child Development Center offers hourly care for children 6 weeks to 5 years old, a Pre-K wrap-around care program and a part-time preschool and toddler program. The center’s hours are 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for hourly care, Pre-K wrap-around care from 5:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for the part-time programs. There is limited space available. Parents must register with Child, Youth and School Services to utilize the center. Call (580) 442-3927 for more information.

CYS Services offers range of services online with WebTracCYS Services offers a range of services with WebTrac, an online payment and pre-registration service for CYS Services. The online service offers online pre-registration for membership, enrollment in SKIES, Sports, EDGE, the Youth Center and School Age Center events. Patrons can request placement of their child or chil-dren on the CYSS waiting list and make hourly care appointments. WebTrac also allows families to print child care receipts, tax statements and pay child care household balances in conjunction with the billing cycle. Visit the site at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil. Patrons can begin pre-registration through WebTrac, and then a CYS Services representative will contact them for an appointment to finalize the registration process. SKIES Unlimited offers classes for school-age studentsSKIES Unlimited offers instructional classes for children, from infancy to adolescence, registered with CYS Services. Current classes include: Martial Arts, Ballet, Piano, Dance, Guitar, Zumba, Swimming, Free Babysit-ting Courses, Baby Sign Language workshops and Golf. Enrollment is ongoing and classes are paid for on a monthly basis. Parents should sign-up their children before the first day of each month prior to starting. Teens sign-up for summer Hired! term by May 2Teens, 15-18 years old, can get valuable work experience and workforce preparation training through the Fort Sill Youth Center. The Hired! Apprenticeship Program gives participants an opportunity to explore secondary education options and work with an assigned mentor in one of many career interest areas. Teens gain valuable experiences and training and are better equipped with the skills needed for a highly-competitive job market. Ap-prenticeship terms are 12 weeks in length. Upon successful completion of the term, participants are eligible for a cash award. The Hired Apprenticeship Application deadline for the summer term is May 2 and the term runs from May 21 – Aug. 12. The Fort Sill Golf Course is open to the public Tuesday through Friday for open play. Weekend play is still reserved for authorized users, family members and their guests. Currently hours of the course are from 7:45 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or from dawn to dusk. For more information, call the Pro Shop at (580) 442-5441.

RecPlex offers variety of movies and gamesThe RecPlex has a wide variety of movies available to show for the Friday Night Movie since the center now has an account with NetFlix and Gamefly. Gamefly will also provide games for the Xboxes with Kinect, Play-station 3, and Wii. Come out and test your gaming skills.The RecPlex has weekly tournaments each Saturday in May and prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place. All tournaments are free. Contact the RecPlex at 442-4824 for more information.

Meeting rooms available at Nye LibraryMeeting rooms for larger groups are now available at Nye Library. The library has three meeting rooms that can hold up to 26 individuals each and can easily be converted to a larger space that holds up to 78 individuals. As-sistance is also available for your projection and audio visual needs. Call 442-2048 to get the request form and reserve a room.

NEOS gaming system available for families at Co-Op ParkThe NEOS Wall and NEOS 360 electronic outdoor games are located at Co-Op Park, off Fort Sill Boulevard on Upton Road. Cabins open for reservation at LETRALake Elmer Thomas Recreation Area has lakeside rustic, wood cabins avail-able for reservation in three different sizes. The small cabins accommodate up to four people; the medium cabins accommodate up to six people; and large cabins accommodate seven people. The prices for the cabins are $55 for the small cabins; $65 for the medium cabins; and $75 for the large cab-ins. The cabins are available for reservation to all, but there is an additional $10 cost for civilians. The cabins come with all the amenities including
