CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE

Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS

Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-

179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit.

Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the

deployment. A copy of the Service Member„s orders must be provided.

The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly

care is $4 per hour will apply; payment must be made in advance. This

service may be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for

hourly care. Reservations are required and may be made up to two

weeks in advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade.

Due to space limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make

room for deployed Service Member„s reservations. If this should occur,

advance payments will be refunded. For more information and hours call

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE

Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between

CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE

childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would

like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service

your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must

be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

ARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDING

Do you want a better understanding of the

Army life? The Army Family Team Building

(AFTB) classes will help you to not just

cope with, but also understand, military life.

With AFTB you will gain the knowledge and

self-confidence to take responsibility for

yourself and your family while your sponsor is

away. It‟s training for a way of life that prepares

you in America‟s Army to function at the highest level. Many of

these courses can be applied toward college credits, resume/career

building, and self-development. Classes are FREE and open to the

public. Classes consist of three levels and you are encouraged to

take all three. Child care is available through CYS Services, child

must be registered, must make reservations 8 days prior to class.

BUNDLES OF JOY - SESSION 3

Army Community Services will be hosting session 3 of Bundles of Joy. A

6 week class for new & expecting parents that will cover topics such as

bonding with your baby, swaddling and comforting, child safety, Shaken

Baby Syndrome, budgeting for your baby, and more. Class is open to

authorized patrons. Class will be held at Army Community Service

located in Bldg. 486 on Replacement Avenue every Monday from 1:30

In partnership with Operation U.S., the Army Community Services is

hosting session 3 of Couples in Arms workshop from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

in classroom A. Couples in Arms is a FREE workshop where couples

learn to talk without fighting, supporting each other, build a relationship

that lasts, and more. Free childcare is available, must contact ACS prior

to attending workshop. Refreshments will be provided. Workshop is open

The Army Community Service is hosting session 3 of Anger Danger. The

class will teach you the methods of dealing with anger before it gets out

of control, the definition of anger, the causes and effects, techniques to

manage anger, the power of forgiveness, and how relationships are

affected by anger. Classes will be held at Army Community Service

located in Bldg. 486 Replacement Ave, from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm. Class is

PARENTING FROM THE HEART - SESSION 3

Army Community Services is hosting session 3 of Parenting from the

Heart every Monday from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. Parenting from the heart is

a 6 week class that covers topics such as positive guidance techniques,

discipline, communication, sibling rivalry, and parenting styles. Army

Community Services is located in Bldg. 486 Replacement Avenue. You

must register prior to attending. Classes are FREE and open to

GREAT SPRING CLEANING FMWR YARD SALE REGISTRATION

Need to get rid of some items, sell them at Fort Leonard Wood‟s Great

Spring Cleaning Yard Sale on April 21 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the

Baker Theater auxiliary parking lot. Cost to rent a space is $10 advance /

$15 day of. Tables are available for $5 each and must be reserved in

advance. Spaces must be reserved by April 20. Fort Leonard Wood Thrift

Shop will be on site to collect donations until 12:00 pm. Yard sale is open

to the public. Rain date will be April 22. The following items cannot be

sold: weapons, food items, retail items (Avon, Tupperware, Scentsy

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK: REGISTRATION

In Observance of the National Volunteer Week and to show our

appreciation to all volunteers on Fort Leonard Wood, the Army Volunteer

Corps, in partnership with the Commissary, invites all volunteers to

register to win a commissary Gift Card. All registered Fort Leonard Wood

volunteers are encouraged to stop by participating facilities between the

hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm March 1 thru April 13 to register for a chance

to win, one entry per person please. Drawings will be conducted each

day. Come out, enjoy the fun, and celebrate volunteering. National

Volunteer Week will be celebrated April 15-21.

TRAP/ SKEET SHOOTING: REGISTRATION

The SKIES program is hosting Trap and Skeet Shooting class Tuesdays

starting June 5 through July 31 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm at the Outdoor

Adventure Center. Cost is $80 per person, youth must be 11 years of age

and older. Learn the competitive sport of trap and skeet shooting, develop

basic shotgun skills and improve your hand eye coordination. All

equipment is provided for this 8 week course, register by June 1 as class

size is limited to ten students. Youth must be registered with CYS

ANNUAL YOUTH TALENT SHOW: REGISTRATION

Got talent? Show case your talent at the Youth Talent show on April 28 at

1:00 pm at the Audie Murphy‟s Community Center and win great prizes.

Groups will be arranged by grades: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Pick up your

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an educational class specifically

for women. The course will teach women how to handle and fire a gun.

Participants will learn the different types of guns, what they are used for,

how to use them, and how to clean them. Course also includes a trip to

the range to fire a few different types of guns. Cost is $20 per person,

18yrs and older, and includes lunch and ammo. Register by March 30.

HUNTERS EDUCATION CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center in partnership with the Missouri

Department of Conservation will sponsor a Hunters Education Class from

5:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Students must be at least 11yrs old to participate.

Pre registration required and there is a 40 student limit for the class so

register early by going to www.mdc.mo.gov and sign up for the Hunters

Education Class. Outdoor Adventure Center is located off of FLW K

Fort Leonard Wood community the EDGE Program, a monthly program

offers after school opportunities for youth to Experience, Develop, Grow,

and Excel by participating in cutting-edge activities. Program begins in

Fitness EDGE! – Field Games. Youth in grades 3 – 5 will participate in

the basics of Geocaching, a treasure hunting game where you use GPS

to hide and seek with other participants. Class will be Tuesdays and

Thursdays from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Outdoor Adventure Center.

Life EDGE! – Garden and Grow 101. Pippin Youth Center will be

teaching the basics of Gardening from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Fridays.

MAD HATTER PARADE & BALLOON LAUNCH

The children of the Child Development Center will

kick off the Month of the Military Child with their

annual Mad Hatter Parade and Balloon Launch.

Enjoy watching the young military children display

their hats and smiles while they kick-off April, the

month dedicated to our children. This exciting event

will take place at 4:15 pm. in front of the Child

Development Center located in Bldg. 615 &

School Age Services Bldg 616 on Replacement Avenue. Everyone is

HIRED! APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

The Pippin Youth Center‟s HIRED! Apprenticeship Program is in session.

The HIRED! Program is an apprenticeship program offered through the

CYS Services that is designed to meet the workforce-preparation and

secondary education needs of eligible youth. HIRED! is FREE and open

to registered youth in grades 9-12. Must be able to work 15 hours per

week to earn $500 and must register one month prior to start. The Pippin

Youth Center is located in Bldg. 9625 Young Street.

YOUTH BASEBALL/SOFTBALL & T-BALL REGISTRATION

CYS Services Youth Sports and Fitness Youth Baseball/Softball and T-

ball program begins May 7. Cost is $45 per participant, includes uniform

and trophy (15% discount for second child for eligible families). Youth

must have a current physical, good through the end of the season, turned

in with registration. Child must be registered with the CYS Services.

Registration will take place at the Parent Central Services office located

inside Bldg. 470, Rm. 1126, office hours are 7:30 am – 4:30 pm. Practice

begins May 7 / Season runs from May 7 – June 30.

for baseball/softball season. Clinic will take place at Hill Topper Field.

PAJAMA PARTY BUNCO

Family & MWR will be hosting Bunco beginning at 6:00 pm at Pershing

Community Center. Join in on this fun dice game and win great prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for the most wins and most losses. Random

drawings will also be held between rounds for prizes. Early registration

drawing will be held, register online at www.fortleonardwood.com or at

the door on the night of the event. Additional prizes may be added or

substituted at the discretion of the sponsors. There are no cash

substitutions for prizes awarded. Event is FREE and open to authorized

The House Next Door‟s Cooking Class will be hosting Prepare and Share

NIGHT GOLF

The most fun you can have on the course after dark! Piney Valley Golf

Course hosts Night Golf, enjoy golfing at night with glow in the dark golf

balls and chemical lights beginning at beginning at 5:00 pm. Cost is $30

per person for Annual Green Fee Patrons (AGFP) / $35 per person, non

AGFPs, meal included. Each team will play 9 holes in daylight and then 8

holes after dark. Enjoy a chicken fried steak dinner at the turn. Prizes will

be awarded for 1st-3rd place and for most “off-the-wall” dressed team.

Night golf is open to the public. Piney Valley Golf Course is located on

FLW 20 off Water Intake Rd. Night golf is limited to 64 people and rental

2012 CHAMPION OF THE HILL 10K

Davidson Fitness Center would like to challenge you in this tough uphill

finish “2012 Champion of the Hill 10k” race. Cost is $10 and check in

starts at 8:00 am; race begins at 9:00 am. The route will be down and up

car wash hill. Awards for overall female and male as well as age groups

for both will be given. The first fifty registrations will receive a t-shirt.

Join Daugherty Bowling Center for Easter Bowl; participating children will

Bargain hunters can receive deep discounts at the NAF excess property

Warehouse Sale. Sale will be held 8:00 am – 3:00 pm at Bldg. 2311

Railroad Street. Items are sold “as is” with no refunds, prices are not

negotiable. Patrons are allowed to enter on a first come, first served

basis. Cash, check and credit cards are excepted. The profits from the

sale go directly to the Family & MWR fund to be reinvested back to

programs and services for Soldiers and Families. All purchased items

need to be removed by April 13th before 3:00 pm.

Family & MWR will be accepting bids on viewed NAF vehicles April 2 – 4

from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm at the Family & MWR warehouse Bldg. 2347

Louisiana Avenue. Deadline to submit bids will be April 4 close of

business. Top bidder will be notified by phone on April 5. All vehicles are

sold as is and need to be paid for no later than April 6 and removed by

Celebrate the Month of the Military Child the healthy way with a 30-

minute aerobic workout for Service Members and their families at the

Gerlach Track from 6:30 am-7:30 am. First 100 children receive a FREE

that can be used for 1 FREE day of PT (with Commander‟s approval).

WOMEN’S GOLF CLINIC

The Piney Valley Golf Course will be hosting the Women‟s

Golf Clinic. This clinic is designed as a beginning golf class

for adult ladies. Instructions will include rules of golf, etiquette,

golf procedures, driving range and course lessons. Cost is $80 per

person and includes a 10% discount on ladies clothing, shoes or golf club

purchases during the clinic at the PVGC pro shop. Clinic is held from

Beck. Beck has been on Fox Sports radio, Bob & Tom

Show, TV Sprint: Comedy Time Network and Night

Shift as well as some serious TV appearances.

“The Bornstein Experiment” features Jeff and

Kimberly Bornstein, a HILARIOUS husband and

wife mind reading duo. It‟s a 21st Century "battle

of the sexes" when Kimberly tells the men in the

audience exactly what they're thinking and it‟s

ALL CLEAN comedy! You will be BAFFLED and

ROCK CLIMBING ADVENTURE

Are you looking for a new way to physically and mentally push yourself to

the limits, while at the same time having a thrilling day of excitement and

fun? Come challenge yourself from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm on the Climbing

wall at the Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch located in Steelville.

This artificial climbing wall has enough space for multiple climbers to

learn to dance their way up the rock individually or as a team. Trained

facilitators will carefully instruct you in climbing and belaying techniques,

equipment care and use, knots, rope management. Routes and activities

vary in difficulty to both challenge more experienced climbers and to

impart success to the newest of climbers. Cost is $75 per person open to

ages 6 and up. Register by April 4 at the Outdoor Adventure Center

located at 2290 FLW K. A minimum of 12 participants are required for the

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons

Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including

weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am – 5:00

pm. Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a

photo id, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a

revolver (plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All

handguns must be in good working condition. Guns and ammos will NOT

be allowed in the building during class. Class is open to the public 21 yrs.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS – HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE

The Arts and Crafts Frame Shop is hosting High Dynamic Range

Photography Class. Taught by photographer Mike Curtis the class will

teach you the techniques to capture the perfect picture using your HDR

(high dynamic range) camera feature. This class includes outdoor

instruction and will be held rain or shine (dress appropriately).

Participants receive a 10% discount on framing on a selected photo

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons

Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement

including weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am –

5:00 pm. Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must

bring a photo id, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun

and a revolver (plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for

food. All handguns must be in good working condition. Guns and

ammos will NOT be allowed in the building during class. Class is open

to the public 21 yrs. and older. Interested patrons must be registered

the day prior to each class at the Outdoor Adventure Center located in

onto the installation for authorized activities such as hunting, dog training

The Frame Shop offers a one-on-one class. Learn to mat, mount, and

secure your artwork in a frame. Students are introduced to frame shop

equipment and safety procedures. You will also learn to choose the right

mat color, determine margins, frame joinery, mounting techniques, and

frame closures. Students will receive a frame shop card that allows you

to access the self-help area. Cost for class is $20 plus supplies. Must be

18 yrs. and older to participate. Must bring in your project you wish to

frame on your appointment. Class is open to the public. Frame Shop is

Engraving

The Frame Shop now offers engraving. Let the Frame Shop capture your

"Insight Child Care Area" is available Mon-Fri 8am-11am. An enclosed a

play area will entertain your child while you exercise - no attendant is on

hand - child MUST be in the parent/guardian's line of sight at all times.

EQUIPMENT ORIENTATION

Make the most of your workouts; learn how to properly use the cardio and

strength equipment. Free 30-minute equipment orientations will be held

at the Davidson Fitness Center and Specker Gym Monday at 9:00 am

and Thursday at 6:00 pm.

Swim lessons are being offered at Davidson Fitness Center for children

ages 6 months through adult. Children must be registered with CYS

CYS SERVICES- THE “I’mAlone” PROGRAM

CYS Services offers I’mAlone, a FREE program to help prepare youth to

stay home alone. Youth will learn to increase personal safety skills,

demonstrate responsibility and other positive character traits, recognize

and handle emergencies, identify a Family & Friend Support System,

prepare nutritious snacks, and practice good decision making. Workshop

is held every 3rd Saturday at School Age Services, for youth ages 11 to

18yrs and parents. A $20 deposit is required and will be fully refunded

upon completion of the program. Call Parent & Outreach Services for

SKIESUNLIMITED INSTRUCTORS NEEDED

The CYS Services SKIESUnlimited program is seeking a public or private

firm(s) interested in conducting instruction in the following areas: Tae

Kwon Do, Kung Fu San Soo, baby signing, academic tutoring, cooking,

driver‟s education, dance and tennis. If you are interested in exploring

this opportunity, please contact Ms. Sheryl Johnson, Family and Morale,

MARTIAL ARTS REGISTRATION

The SKIES American Taekwondo Association Martial Arts Program is

accepting registration. Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday,

and are available to youth 4-18 years. Students may participate in one

class per week for $35 a month or two classes per week for $65.

Additionally a starter kit must be purchased from the instructor for $75.

Testing occurs every eight weeks, and costs $60 each for up to two

children and $5 for each additional family member, additional costs for

tournaments (optional). The exciting workouts offer training in weapons,

sparring, alternative martial arts skills, and self defense. A one-time fee of

$669 includes gear, uniform, weapons, and the first black belt. Classes

will be held at the Audie Murphy’s Community Center. Family discounts

available. Child must be registered with CY&SS. Register at Parent

GYMNASTICS & YOGA

The SKIES Program is now offering gymnastics and yoga classes for

youth. Gymnastics are open to children ages 18 months thru 18 yrs. and
