CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE

Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS

Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-

179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit.

Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the

deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided.

The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly

care is $4 per hour; payment must be made in advance. This service may

be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care.

Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in

advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space

limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed

Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE

Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between

CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE

childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would

like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service

your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must

be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

PINEY VALLEY GOLF COURSE WINTER HOURS

Piney Valley Golf Course will be open for play December 1 – mid

February on the honor system. Hours of operation will be 10:00 am to

5:00 pm daily. Green Fees $5/9 holes or $10/18 holes, cash or personal

check payable to Piney Valley Golf Course, deposited in the drop box on

site. Green Fees are mandatory to ensure this golf course can remain an

affordable facility. We ask that all patrons respect the property and use

appropriate golf etiquette. Piney Valley Golf Course is located at 10221

Melt your Valentines Heart with a Candy Gram from Fort Leonard Wood

BOSS and support the Single Service Member program. BOSS will be

Outdoor Adventure Center wants you to enjoy the winter season with a

fun filled skiing adventure to Hidden Valley Ski Resort near Six Flags. Ski

and snowboard lessons are available. Interested customers must register

1 week prior to each trip. Cost is: Active Duty: $20 per person / $85 for all

other customers or $55 per person for lift ticket only; discounted rates for

children ages 7-12. The Outdoor Adventure Center is located in Bldg.

SUPER BOWL XLVIII PARTY @ BLACKJACK BAR & GRILL

Grab your friends and head over to the Blackjack Bar & Grill for Super

MINI T-BALL: REGISTRATION

Mini T – Ball will begin on 4 March and will conclude on 17 April.

Sessions will be held at Pippin Youth Center on Tuesday for ages 3 yrs

and Thursday for ages 4-5 yrs from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Cost per child is

$20. Child participants receive a T-Shirt and a medal. Parents are

required to participate. No physical needed. Parent meeting will be held

at first practice. Youth must be registered at Parent Central Services in

building 470 room 1126. Pippin Youth Center is located in Bldg. 9625

Young Street.

YOUTH SPRING TRACK: REGISTRATION

Enroll your youth for Spring Track! Spring Track is offered for ages 6 -12.

Cost per child is $40, each child will receive a uniform and a trophy. This

is a recreational league; Youth Sports provides a safe, fun, and

instructional environment for our young athletes. Practices begin the

week of March 3rd, teams will practice twice a week. Games will take

place during the week and on Saturdays. Season will conclude the week

of 27 April 2014. Volunteer coaches needed for all age groups. Families

Enroll your youth for Spring Soccer. Spring Soccer is offered for ages 4 -

15 years old. Cost is $40 per child. This is a recreational league; Youth

Family & MWR will be hosting Sweets and Treats Bunco beginning at

7:00 pm at the Pershing Community Center. Bring your favorite treat

recipe to this yummy night. Cost is $5. Prizes will be awarded for the

most wins and most losses. Random drawings will also be held between

rounds for prizes. Event is open to authorized personnel 18 yrs. and

older. Additional prizes may be added or substituted at the discretion of

the sponsors. There are no cash substitutions for prizes awarded.

SNOW TUBING AT HIDDEN VALLEY SKI RESORT

Spend a fun filled day Snow Tubing with family and friends with an

BBQ & COURSE CLEAN UP

Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a BBQ and course clean up.

Interested patrons can come out and help clean up the course and enjoy

a BBQ lunch. Course Clean up starts at 10:00 am followed by a FREE

BBQ from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Gather information about becoming an

Annual Green Fee Patron and talk to golf course staff and professionals.

LIGHTROOM 101 PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS

Would you like to learn how to edit your photos like the pros? The Arts

and Crafts Frame Shop is hosting Light Room 101. The class will

introduce you to the editing software Lightroom taught by photographer

Mike Curtis. Download a free trial and bring your laptop. Participants

receive a 10% discount on framing on a selected photo from class.

Seating is limited. Photo Classes are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Bldg

470, room 1129. Cost is $65 and includes lunch. Minimum of 7

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) is hosting Concealed Carry

Weapons Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement

including weapons range qualification. Class is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Cost

is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo ID,

eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver (plus

minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. If you do not

have both types of guns, please notify the OAC at time of pre-registration

so that arrangements can be made. All handguns must be in good

working condition. Class is open to the public 21 yrs. and older.

Interested patrons must be registered the day prior to each class at the

Outdoor Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Road.

Individuals bringing a privately owned weapon onto the installation for authorized

activities such as hunting, dog training activities or marksmanship events, are required to

register weapons. Privately owned weapons can be registered between 8:00 a.m. and

4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Main Gate Visitor Control Center, Building 100.

Registration form is available online at

www.wood.army.mil/LEC/SOB/Privately%20Owned%20Weapons.html Registrations may

take up to one week to process. Additionally, anyone wishing to bring a firearm onto FLW

is required to declare the firearm with proof of registration. Firearms and ammunition

must be stored separately, i.e. firearm in the trunk and ammunition in the passenger

compartment.

NEWCOMER’S ORIENTATION

Gather great information about Fort Leonard Wood and the surrounding

community at the Newcomer’s Orientation from 8:30 am-12:00 am at the

Main Post Chapel, Bldg 608 Constitution Ave. FREE Child Care is

offered for Newcomers Orientation at the Child Development Center

(CDC); space is limited so make your reservations early. Child Care

BOLD IN THE COLD PLUNGE

Fort Leonard Wood is freezing for a reason. Take the

Bold in the Cold plunge at TA250 and support the Fort

Leonard Wood BOSS program. Cost: advance - $5 per

person, $20 per team (up to 5 members) / $5 more on day

of event. Prizes will be awarded for best team theme, best

couples theme, best individual costume, youngest plunger, the old salt

award, and individual with the most overall moxy. Event is open to the

KID’S TROUT DERBY

The Outdoor Adventure Center and Department of Natural Resources will

host the Kid’s Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 22. Registration

starts at 10:00 am and fishing from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm. Derby is FREE

and open to kids ages 15 years and under (must be accompanied by an

adult). The trout derby will be held at Stone Mills Spring located on FLW

20 Road off Water Intake Road. Prizes will be awarded. Limited fishing

poles will be available; you are encouraged to bring your own. Open to

the public. Licenses and fees are waived. Due to weathered road

conditions please prepare for a 1/3 mile walk into Stone Mill Spring.

These two talented mixed martial arts (MMA) females will headline the

TASTE OF THE ARTS TOUR: REGISTRATION

Family & MWR and The Arts & Crafts Frame Shop will be registering

original works of art in categories from drawing, painting, photography,

Mixed Media and photo1=SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera), photo 2 =DE

(Digitally Enhanced), photo 3 =DN (Digitally Manipulated) and sculpture.

Specialty category is "Traveling Anywhere", receive extra points in

judging for art work emphasizing on Travel or Touring. Art work will be

showcased at the Mini PX Bldg 490 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm April 3. Cost

to register is $5 per artwork for adults / FREE for children ages 5 & up.

Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 artists in each age category. Age

categories are 18 yrs. & older, children in grades Kindergarten-2nd, 3rd-

5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th. Judging will take place prior to the event.

HIRED! APPRENTICESHIP PREREQUISITE TRAINING

HIRED! Apprenticeship prerequisite training program is in session from

9:00 am – 2:00 pm at Pippin Youth Center. The HIRED! Prerequisite

training program will train youth in resume building, job application, and

professional image, interviewing for the job, ethics, basic business

etiquette, and money matters. HIRED! is FREE and open to youth in

grades 9-12 ages 15-18. Bring a sack lunch. Youth must be registered

HUNTERS EDUCATION CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center in partnership with the Missouri

Department of Conservation will sponsor a Hunters Education Class from

6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Students must be at least 11yrs old to participate.

Pre registration required and there is a 45 student limit for the class so

register early by going to www.mdc.mo.gov and sign up for the Hunters

Education Class. Outdoor Adventure Center is located off of FLW K

ANNIE GET YOUR GUN

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting an educational class

specifically for women. The course will teach women how to handle and

fire a gun. From 10:00 am – 3:00 pm participants will learn the different

types of guns, what they are used for, how to use them, and how to clean

them. The course includes a trip to the range to fire a few different types

of guns. Cost is $20 per person, 18yrs and older, and includes lunch and

ammo. Registration must be made one week prior to event.

COUPLES IN ARMS – SESSION 3

The Army Community Services is hosting session 3 of Couples in Arms

workshop from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm in classroom A. The Couples in Arms

is a FREE workshop where couples learn to talk without fighting,

supporting each other, build a relationship that lasts, and more. Free

childcare is available, must contact ACS prior to attending workshop.

The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) will be hosting their

annual Bass Tournament starting at 7:00 am (or first safelight), weigh-in

is at 3:00 pm. Entry fee per boat is $40 and an optional $10 fee for Big

Bass. Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center or LORA for entry

forms/rules. Open to the public. LORA is located 50 miles NW of Fort

Leonard Wood on McCubbins Drive off a Route A.

BAR BENDERS COMPETITION

Davidson Fitness Center invites you to come out and bend some bars as

we host our annual Power lifting competition. Weigh-Ins are the day

before competition. You must weigh in to compete. The competitive

weight classes will follow closely with the USAPL established weight

classes. Ensure you know your opening attempts for all three lifts (Squat,

Bench Press, Dead lift) at the weigh in. Cost is $20 per person; must be

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center (OAC) is hosting Concealed Carry

Weapons Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement

including weapons range qualification. Class is 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Cost

is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo ID,

eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver (plus

minimum of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns

must be in good working condition. If you do not have both types of guns,

please notify the OAC at time of pre-registration so that arrangements

can be made. Class is open to the public 21 yrs. and older. Interested

patrons must be registered the day prior to each class at the Outdoor

Adventure Center located in Bldg. 2290 FLW K Road.

Individuals bringing a privately owned weapon onto the installation for authorized

activities such as hunting, dog training activities or marksmanship events, are required to

register weapons. Privately owned weapons can be registered between 8:00 a.m. and

4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Main Gate Visitor Control Center, Building 100.

Registration form is available online at

take up to one week to process. Additionally, anyone wishing to bring a firearm onto FLW

is required to declare the firearm with proof of registration. Firearms and ammunition

is hosting Photo 101. This great class will teach you what all the icons

and menu items of your digital camera can do to enhance your

photography; taught by photographer Mike Curtis. Participants receive a

Frame Class

The Frame Shop offers a one-on-one class. Learn to mat, mount, and

secure your artwork in a frame. Students are introduced to frame shop

equipment and safety procedures. You will also learn to choose the right

mat color, determine margins, frame joinery, mounting techniques, and

frame closures. Students will receive a frame shop card that allows you

to access the self-help area. Cost for class is $20 plus supplies. Must be

18 yrs. and older to participate. Must bring in your project you wish to

frame on your appointment. Class is open to the public. Frame Shop is

located inside the PX Mini Mall.

Learn to Swim Program is offered to children and youth from 4 years to

18 years old. Classes are taught by American Red Cross Certified

Instructors. $45 per child.

Gymnastics are offered to children and youth from 18 months to 18

years old. Classes are available Monday – Friday afternoons and

Wednesday and Thursday mornings at Pippin Youth Center.

Academic Tutoring in reading, writing, math, test prep, SAT, ACT and

GED prep are available for students from 6 – 18 years old.

Martial Arts - Tae Kwon Do meets Monday and Wednesday evenings at

the Child Development Center Bldg 614 Replacement Ave. Classes

offered are one time a week for $35 per month or two times a week for

$65 per month. Sign up for 2 days a week class and you can attend

Grand Master Prosser’s Tuesday and Thursday classes in Rolla for

FREE! Start-up fee is now $75 (regular price, $159).

Dance – Pre-ballet and ballet I, II and III through the School of

Performing Arts are held on Thursdays between 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm for

children ages Pre-K and up. Cost is $35 per month. Starlighters School of

Dance offers instruction on Fridays in preschool ballet, tap, and jazz,

junior hip hop, and hip hop for school age children and youth. Cost is $40

per month.

Music and Movement – includes activities like creative movement,

finger plays and hands on activities with child sized instruments.

Available for children ages 3 -5 years. Cost is $40 for eight 1 hour, once

PINEY VALLEY GOLF COURSE

Piney Valley Golf Course will be open for play December 1 –

mid February on the honor system Hours of operation will

be 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Green Fees $5/9 Holes or $10/18

Holes and can be paid by cash or personal check (payable to Piney

Valley Golf Course) deposited in the drop box on site. Green Fees are

mandatory to ensure this golf course can remain an affordable facility.

We ask that all patrons respect the property and use appropriate golf
