CYS SERVICE SPECIAL OPENING - RESPITE CARE

Deployment Respite Care is available for children registered with CYS

Services whose parent/sponsor is deployed, on TCS, PCS or TDY (90-

179 days) orders or a Service Member of the deployed unit.

Sixteen free hours of care is available per month, per child, during the

deployment. A copy of the Service Member‘s orders must be provided.

The CDC opens twice a month for this service. The normal cost of hourly

care is $4 per hour; payment must be made in advance. This service may

be utilized by other patrons whose children are registered for hourly care.

Reservations are required and may be made up to two weeks in

advance. Care is available for children 6 weeks - 5th grade. Due to space

limitations, paid reservations may be bumped to make room for deployed

Service Member‘s reservations. If this should occur, advance payments

will be refunded.

CYS SERVICES - FRG CHILDCARE

Family Readiness Group (FRG) childcare is a partnering event between

CYS Services and Army Community Service (ACS). There is FREE

childcare service two nights per month for any FRG member who would

like to utilize the service to attend an FRG meeting. To utilize the service

your child must be registered with CYS Services and reservations must

be made no later than 12:00 pm the week before the date of the opening.

ARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDING

Do you want a better understanding of the

Army life? The Army Family Team Building

(AFTB) classes will help you to not just

cope with, but also understand, military life.

With AFTB you will gain the knowledge and

self-confidence to take responsibility for

yourself and your family while your sponsor is

away. It’s training for a way of life that prepares

you in America’s Army to function at the highest level. Many of these

courses can be applied toward college credits, resume/career building,

and self-development. Classes are FREE and open to the public.

Classes consist of three levels and you are encouraged to take all three.

Child care is available through CYS Services. For more information call

MINI VOLLEYBALL: REGISTRATION

Mini Volleyball will begin on 18 February 2013 and will conclude on 3 April

2013. Sessions will be held at Pippin Youth Center on Mondays for 5-6

yrs and Wednesdays for 7-8 yrs from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm. Cost per child is

$20. Child participants’ receive a T-Shirt and an award. Parents are

required to participate. No physical needed. Parent meeting will be held

on 15 February 2013 at 5:30 pm located at the Pippin Youth Center.

HIRED! APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM: REGISTRATION

The Pippin Youth Center’s HIRED! is an apprenticeship program offered

through the CYS Services that is designed to meet the workforce-

preparation and secondary education needs of eligible youth. HIRED! is

FREE and open to registered youth in grades 9-12. Must be able to work

15 hours per week to earn $500 and must register by March 8. The Pippin

Youth Center is located in Bldg. 9625 Young Street.

2013 SHAMROCK SHUFFLE 5K: REGISTRATION

The Davidson Fitness Center is hosting the 2013

Fort Leonard Wood Shamrock Shuffle 5K. Cost is

$15 for early registration and $20 the day of. Short

sleeve T-shirts will be given to registered participants.

This is a fun and exciting way to get involved in some

physical activity. Awards for overall male and female finisher as well as all

age group winners. Come out and have some fun and support your local

FLOW FUSION MUSCLE FUSION & INDOOR CYCLING

CERTIFICATION/ LICENSING

For those wanting to instruct these classes Davidson Fitness Center is

hosting Muscle Fusion and Flow Fusion Saturday February 2. Flow

Fusion class is from 8:00 am-12:00 pm and cost $79. Muscle Fusion is

from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm and cost $79. Indoor cycling will be February 3

from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm and cost $209.Patrons MUST sign up at

INDOOR CYCLING: This course covers topics such as proper bike set

up, cadence, flats, sprints, climbs, monitoring heart rates,

contraindications and more. The difference between a beginner ride and

an advance ride; riding for endurance, strength, proper recovery and

interval training will be discussed as well. This course includes 2 rides, so

come ready to learn and sweat!

BBQ & GOLF COURSE CLEAN UP

Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting a course clean up and BBQ.

Interested patrons can come out and help clean up the course and enjoy

a BBQ lunch. Course Clean up starts at 10:00 am followed by a FREE

BBQ from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. Gather information about becoming an

Advanced Green Fee Patron and talk to golf course staff and

ZUMBA PARTY HEARTY FOR A HEALTHIER HEART

February is American Heart Month! Get your heart pumping and fight

DUELING PIANOS

Back by popular demand! Join us for Dueling Pianos, a night of music

and laughter at this all request interactive show. Pershing Community

Center doors open at 7:15 pm for early entry ticket holders and 7:30 pm

for day of purchase ticket holders. Show begins at 8:00 pm. $10 early

entry tickets are available at the ITR office. Those with early entrance

tickets will be seated first to choose their seats, those without can enter at

7:30 pm General Admission $5. Show is open to the public 18 yrs. and

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons

Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including

weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo

ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver

(plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns

must be in good working condition. Class is open to the public 21 yrs.

TASTE OF THE ARTS GOES GREEN: REGISTRATION

Family & MWR and The Arts & Crafts Frame Shop will be registering

original works of art in categories from drawing, painting, photography,

Mixed Media and photo1=SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera), photo 2 =DE

(Digitally Enhanced), photo 3 =DN (Digitally Manipulated) and sculpture.

Specialty category is "Recycled Art". Receive extra points in judging for

art work emphasizing on Recycling or Going Green. Art work will be

showcased at the Audie Murphy Community Center March 21 from 6:00

pm - 8:00 pm. Cost to register is $5 per artwork for adults / FREE for

children ages 5 & up. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 artists in each

age category. Age categories are 18 yrs. & older, children in grades

Kindergarten-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th. Judging will take place prior

to the event. All wall mounted art work must be wired and ready to hang.

No special installations and no ceiling mounted works. Registration for

KID’S TROUT DERBY

The Outdoor Adventure Center and Department of Natural Resources will

host the Kid’s Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 23. Registration

starts at 9:00 am and fishing from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm. Derby is FREE

and open to kids ages 15 years and under (must be accompanied by an

adult). The trout derby will be held at Stone Mills Spring located on FLW

20 Road off Water Intake Road. Prizes will be awarded. Limited fishing

poles will be available; you are encouraged to bring your own. Open to

the public. Licenses and fees are waived.

CABIN FEVER-WINTER TOUR

Piney Valley Golf Course is hosting their Cabin Fever Winter Tour with a

shot-gun start at 10:00 am. Play and register for a chance to win a “Free

Fee Patrons (AGFP) and $35 for non AGFPs. Open to the public. The

BOLD IN THE COLD PLUNGE

Fort Leonard Wood is freezing for a reason. Take the Bold

in the Cold plunge at TA250 and support the Fort Leonard

Wood BOSS program. Cost: advance - $5 per person,

$20 per team (up to 5 members) /$5 more day of event.

Prizes will be awarded for best team theme, best couples

theme, best individual costume, youngest plunger, the old

salt award, and individual with the most overall moxy.

Event is open to the public and begins at 1:00 pm. Youth under 18 must

have parent or guardian provide a written consent on day of event. Dress

SINGLE PARENT SUPPORT BOWLING SPECIAL

Daugherty Bowling Center would like to help support single parents.

GREAT SPRING CLEANING FMWR YARD SALE: REGISTRATION

Need to get rid of some items? Sell them at Fort Leonard Wood’s Great

Spring Cleaning Yard Sale on April 6 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at the

Baker Theater auxiliary parking lot. Cost is $10 if registered in advance

by April 5 at 3:00 pm / $15 day of, includes two parking spots. Tables are

available for $5 each. Yard sale is open to the public. Tables and Spaces

must be reserved by April 5. Fort Leonard Wood Thrift Shop will be on

site to collect donations until 12:00 pm.

The following items cannot be sold: weapons, food items, retail items

(Avon, Tupperware, Scentsy etc.) For more information and to register

Kick off your summer with the Early Bird Softball Tournament beginning

at 9:00 am at Sports Complex B. Cost is $125 per team. Registration

BASS TOURNAMENT

The Lake of the Ozarks Recreation Area (LORA) will be hosting their

annual Bass Tournament starting at 7:00 am (or first safelight), weigh-in

is at 3:00 pm. Entry fee per boat is $40 and an optional $10 fee for Big

Bass. Stop by the Outdoor Adventure Center or LORA for entry

forms/rules. Open to the public. LORA is located 50 miles NW of Fort

HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS

The Arts and Crafts Frame Shop is hosting High Dynamic Range

Photography Class. This workshop focuses on advanced camera settings

and software post processing to get a HDR image. You will also learn to

record details in both the shadow and highlight areas of an image. Bring

your camera and tripod. Seating is limited. For cost and details stop by

CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS CLASS

The Outdoor Adventure Center is hosting Concealed Carry Weapons

Class; the first step in acquiring a Missouri CCW endorsement including

weapons qualification on the range. Class is from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Cost is $15 to register, $65 day of class. Each student must bring a photo

ID, eye and hearing protection, semi-automatic handgun and a revolver

(plus min of 50 round each), and lunch or money for food. All handguns

Art". Spirit tasting, appetizers, chocolate fountain and music performed by

the 399th Army Band will also be provided at the Pershing Community

Center from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3

artists in each age category. Age categories are 18 yrs. & older, children

Fort Leonard Wood is hosting the MSCoE Combatives Tournament at

Davidson Fitness Center at 5:30 pm, doors; open 4:30 pm. Preliminary

matches March 28 at Shea Gym. The Combatives Tournament is open to

Active Duty Soldiers, all Service Branches, National Guard and

Reservists. Army Combatives is a functional, mixed martial art form

combining Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing, clinch hitting, takedowns and

ground-fighting techniques. The fighters will compete in several weight

classes within a graduated set of rules. Event is FREE and open to the

public. Winners will advance to the All Army Competition at Fort Hood,

The Frame Shop offers a one-on-one class. Learn to mat, mount, and

secure your artwork in a frame. Students are introduced to frame shop

equipment and safety procedures. You will also learn to choose the right

mat color, determine margins, frame joinery, mounting techniques, and

frame closures. Students will receive a frame shop card that allows you

to access the self-help area. Cost for class is $20 plus supplies. Must be

18 yrs. and older to participate. Must bring in your project you wish to

CYS SERVICES- THE “I’mAlone” PROGRAM

CYS Services offers I’mAlone, a FREE program to help prepare youth to

stay home alone. Youth will learn to increase personal safety skills,

demonstrate responsibility and other positive character traits, recognize

and handle emergencies, identify a Family & Friend Support System,

prepare nutritious snacks, and practice good decision making. Workshop

is held every 3rd Saturday at School Age Services, for youth ages 11 to

18yrs and parents. A $20 deposit is required and will be fully refunded

SKIESUNLIMITED INSTRUCTORS NEEDED

SKIESUnlimited is recruiting community members like you! Share your

SKIES Unlimited offers martial arts through the American Taekwondo

class per week for $35 a month or two classes per week for $65. Starter

kit, which includes instructional video, uniform, belts and patches, must
