Radio station’s dream becomes a realityNOKULUNGA NGOBESE>>[email protected]

AFTER much speculation, the city’slong awaited radio station KZNCapital 104 FM will finally come to

We envision becoming the

leading community broadcasting service inSouth Africa. We are also grateful to Umgungundlovu district mayor YusufBhamjee who stuck with us through all ourhardships.”

In the interior, the VClass continues to demonstrate the clear design philosophy.

The cockpit design, with its circular instruments, freestanding central display and intelligent use ofspace appealed to the jury. “Dynamic contours andintelligently showcased hitech features make the V

Maximising the use ofqualities in playersTHE 2014 World Cup hasclearly demonstrated theimportance of a good balancebetween individual brillianceand collective play.

A team can no longerdependononeor twocreativeplayers. In fact, every playershould be capable to initiate, participate and finish the ac-tions.

Probablythebiggest lessonis that to win at this level, oneneeds to maximise use ofqualities.

South American teamswith lots of European basedplayers have suffered in thistournament.

Brazilwitha largegrouposEngland based (Chelsea)players were the worst team.It is clear that theirwork envi-ronment has destroyed alltheir creative skills.

What has been happeningto the English teams ininternational competitionsover the past thirty years?

Do South Africans knowwho they are?

Are football leaders aware

of the qualities, characteris-tics, and mentalities of localfootballers?

It will be impossible to getthe best out of our footballerswithout full understanding ofthese basic elements.

This is one reasonwe havea problem with both politicaland sports leadership in thiscountry. We are trying toohard to be Europeans.

Presently, in Kwa-ZuluNatal, you have a situationwhere Portuguese football

technicians tell our kids thatthey have to be big to playfootball.

The scorer of the Germanteam in the 2014 World Cup,Gotze, is a small man. Messi,Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero,Xaviaresomeofthedominantfootballers in world football. Are we not surprised thatPortugal has struggled ininternational competitions inthe last 20 years?

Size is not everything infootball.Thegreatest football-ers of all time like Pele andMaradona were not giants. Itis irritating therefore to seeleaders allowing foreignersdestroying our football.

This is happening at a timewhen the world is embracingthe qualities of the small play-ers.

Football is a game for allsizes and ages. It is a game fordifferent philosophies, mentalities, styles and cul-tures.SouthAfricawillbestbeadvised to find themselves.Copies have never been valid.

HARD work displayed by theofficials, coaches and the localDepartment of Sports and Recreation paid off

when two netball teams (U19 girls and boys open)performed well during the national U19 netballchampionships (men and women) in Durban lastweek.

The two teams that represented uMgungundlovuduring the week long Netball South Africa tournament surprised their opponents and netballfollowers, in Durban’s Hoy Park, who came out in theirnumbers.

The uMgungundlovu mens team started the earlygames on a high note, collecting valuable points tomake it all the way to the finals.

Local netball development officer, anduMgungundlovu coach based in Sobantu, ArthurMaseko told Echo that his team was happy to be seenas the underdogs and work from the back.

“We enjoyed our underdogs tag from day one. It

rocky road. I personallyworked with this teamfor sevenyearsinorderto get them to wherethere are now,” saidMaseko.
