PUBLIC DESIGN SELECTION MEETING RESULTS 

On February 23rd, Caltrans conducted a community meeting in Bodega Bay to receive feedback on the bridge design options. Approximately 25 community members were on hand to view the 6 design options (shown at right) and to rank their favorite design options that evening or via email. Based on community and continued input from partnering agencies, the California Coastal Commission and Sonoma County and Caltrans staff recommendations, the most popular bridge design has been identified as Design Concept 3.  

Caltrans is proceeding with Design Concept 3 as its official type selection. The bridge design evokes the classic style of other coastal highway bridges (e.g., Russian River and Jenner) and seeks to complement the natural surroundings and provide a cohesive, regional design aesthetic. 

Caltrans will hold a community meeting over the summer to receive community input on the aesthetic features of the bridge. Caltrans will present design options related to the design of the pedestrian rail and the color of the bridge rails.
