Thankful for the life of Prof. Ron Meyers Ron Meyers, associate professor of science and chair of the Kinesiology, Science & Mathematics Division at Cornerstone University, died Oct. 19 after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Meyers, who taught at Cornerstone since 1979, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February 2007 after experiencing intense abdominal pain. Despite weeks of chemotherapy, Meyers returned to Cornerstone to teach a full load of classes for the 2007-2008 school year. Meyers earned his bachelor's degree from Cedarville University. He taughtfoundations of scientific inquiry, anatomy & physiology I& II and origins at the university. He leaves behind his wife, Karen, and three children:Kalena, Jeremy and Lauren. “The Lord has led me through quite an incredibleexperience recently,” he wrote on his Cornerstone facultyWeb page. “But, through it all I can say that ‘God isgood.’"

Student Caller Thankful for CU Donors Each October, students call alumni and friends of Cornerstone University to ask for afinancial gift to support variouscampaigns and the annual fund. Thisyear, 17 students helped make thosecalls. Maybe you spoke with one ofthem. Renee, a communications major fromMiddleville, MI has called for the phonathon for thepast two years and enjoys talking with CU alumniand friends. When asked what she liked most about thephonathon, Renee said, "What I find mostinteresting about the phonathon is thecommunication, interaction, and response thattakes place when calling. We hear some really sadsituations of economical struggle. However, we alsohave others tell us why they are more than excitedto give. I have learned from a lot of alumni,parents, and friends of Cornerstone that ourcampus has really changed over time. I talk todonors who have been supporting Cornerstone foryears and years, all for different things. No matterwhat the cause, they have always been willing toreach out using their monetary gifts, becominginvolved in some way, or simply through prayer." Renee also said, "I think it is important that alumniand friends support CU through a financial giftbecause it shows they want to still be involved insome way and put their gift towards the growth of
