Location: These 2 patented mining claims are situated about 6 miles westerly of the

village and rail station ot BOuse, Ari zona, and are recorded ill book ot patented

claims No. 42 at page 112 in the t01lI1. oty~ Cotmty Seat or said county.,

History: Histor,r ot mining in this district ot Plomosa is coincident with the develop­

ment ot the territory and state ot Arizona. A gel18ral.ly erratic output ot gold ores

trom this Bo1lS8 area has been. maintained \ since the lDhabl tatlon ot the district by

white men. '

Particularly the t1rst 20 years ot this centllrT was a period wban the mineral depoe! t8

ot Plomoaa District racei ved the expenditure ot substantial. amounts ot capital in

mine explorations. '1'118 shatt work was carried down to the 500 toot level more or less

and lateral developments extended trom this main shatt.

b1dently no lUge body ot milliDg ' or 8Dl81ter grade of ore was tound suitable to the

metallurgy ot the time. In this belt then are 'few M'PDsnts or mills and. the lcnon

production of direct smelting ores was won :trom several. 8III8ll 'mines ot the local! ty.

However, no shipping recorda are now available. At the f'oot of' a large dunp of' the

B.E.M. shatt there 1s tound the remnant of' an ore biu. and plank shoveling tloor. A

road terminated at this old bin - evidences o:t orctshipments trom. this property during

that period-ot 1907 to 1914 when the Woods Bros. ~ DeuTer, Colorado, and others

'owned and operated the Adele 11. and H.E.II. claims.

the unpatented mine,. the tIJI1JiDg Dutchman-. The writer eDJI1nad. this mine during

1936 and totmd a stope 75 t long about 15 t . wide and exteD.d1Dg downward tor over 100'

below cropping tully 750 tons ore c.arryiDg:trom .15 to 1 .. 5 OZ8 •. o-t gold ~d been

shipped tram this' stope. Deeper explorations on this vein only round a gold' content

o'f .1 to .2:: of' an oz. in a vein ot 4' to 6 t in width.

vein.

About 50 teet on the north side of this ledge a well timbered, 2-compartlnent vertical

shatt was sunk to a depth ot 400' or more. '!'he remnants o't hoist and compressor plant

still on tha gromd is evidence that this shaft was adequately equipped and that much

tmdarground development was made.

There are more than 10,000 tons ot material on the shatt dunp which in part contains

low copper-gold values. Two general dunp samples reprasentiDg 2,500 tons or more

No. 2 assayed Au 0.02 Cu 1.2~

No.3 assayed Au 0.02 Cu 2.0~

Sample No. 4 trom an iron stained andesite be1:cg a large portion ot the main shaft

dump shows only traces ot gold-copper.

On top ot the big dump near the old ore bin 3 tons copper ore likely a remnant ot ores

shipped trom the main shatt assay sample No. 1 Au 0.06 oz. and 9.01$ copper. I did

not attempt to go down shatt to study the ore occurrence which may be Visible within

the main underground workings.

Geology: Geology ot the Bouse mining belt is complex. Both walls of the Adele M.

open cuts appear to be iron stained rhyolite within a taultedgranite which has in­

truded older sedimentary formations, limestones and shales, probably ot Cretaceous age.

~ tew workings have attained depth, it leaves any theory ot underlying sandstones

terminating the mineralization Wi tbin a tew hmdrad :teet ot the sur'tace yet unproven.

The vic1nity contains ledges and surfacedep08ita ot hematite which has given a general .

radish oolor to the adjoining area. See bulletin 137 o:t Arizona Bureau or Kines.

Proposed Development: . As the Adele M. vein per samples 5 and 6 has visl bla and com­

mercia1 grade or ore Wi thin the 2 cropping cuts, I recommend that, . :tirst, a shaf't be .

sunk 50' near the northwest end o:t said out, thence dr1'ttlng southeast on this vein

would in 300' of' drt'tt, put about 100' of' this vein on back ot the headiDg.

'fhe average width o~ the gold-copper ores in the cuts 18 about 18", whila the tUll

width ot the T81n seems to be rrom 5' to· 8· composed o't a :tirm fsrruginous quartz.

It the above new d8velopment opens commercial ores, f'urther explorations ma,.. 'hen be

planned.
