Mine Lead Dike Date February 10, 1943

District Vul ture, Mari copa County Engineer A. C. l~ebeker

Subject:

Location: Prescott, Arizona.

For.mer name: None.

Owner: D. B. iowel1

Address: Aguila, Arizona

Ollerator: Same

Principal Metals: Lead, copper.

Men Employed: Self.

Produotion Rate: None.

Power: Amt. & Type: Hand.

Operations: Present Cutting trenches, and cleaning out some old works.

Operations Planned: Plans to clean out and timber the present shaft, which is about 25 reet deep. After the shaft is cleaned out and made safe, the shaft will be deepened and the vein cross cut, and drifts run along the vein, to explore the mineralization showing.

Number Claims, Title, etc.: 5 claims, title by location and annual work being done.

Description: Topog. &. Geog. The property is IS miles south east of Aguila, A.rizona, in the ~ture District. The topo~apby is gentle with shallow washes and rolling hills.

Mine Workings: Amt. &. Condition: The mine workings consist of several surf'ace cuts and shallow pits on the vein, a shaft 25 feet deep on claim No.1. On claim No.3 a tunnel about 75 feet in, and on claim No. 2 a cut about S feet deep and an inclined shaft apprOximately 50 feet deep.

There is some muck in the 25 foot shaft, all other workings are accessible.

Geology & Mineralization: The formation is granodiorite with a quartz vein cuttin g the formation through the three claims from end to end. The mineralization in the vein is iron, manganese, lead carbonate, some galena, and in places copper carbonate. On claim No. 2 along with the lead is a nice seam of vanadium exposed. One vein strikes N 20 W, dip 72 N.E. another vein strikes N.W. 10 and dips SW55.

Ore: Positive & Probable, Ore Dumps, Tailings: There is no ore blocked out, very l.ittle ore on the dump. It is reported that some ore has been shipped from these claims. I saw some assay certificates which were from ore bought by Hawley & Hawley of Douglas which ran, Au •• 01, Ag. 9.9 oz., Cu .24%, Pb. 31.5%.

A cut from 4 feet in shaft gave 12.1% lead, one car load shipped gave ~ lead, so repo1'ted.

-2- Lead Dike

Mine, Mill Equipment & Flow Sheet: The equipment on hand 2 drill compressor complete 600 ft. ltt pipe, 200 ft. ~ pipe l~ ton truck, 300 ft. 8# mine rails, Trailer house and shop tools.

Road Conditions, Route: The road is good all the way from Aguila.

Water .. Bupply: Would be developed by wells, or hauled from Aguila.

Brief History: All the history there is. Mr. Powell has held this property for the past 17 years, and has worked enough to keep title in good standing.

Remarks: The lead values in the vein may disappear with depth and copper ores take its place.

The vanadium -showing should be prospected some more.

If property for sale: Frice, terms and address to negotiate: The owner is looking for help in developing the property.

(Signed) A. C. NEBEKER
