SHARE FOR AFTER THE PERFORMANCE!

The colorful (and tasty!) theme of FRUIT

OF THE SPIRIT is not to be missed as ES

students celebrate their musical gifts

during this Spring’s Music Showcase. As

part of the upcoming Music Showcase,

Concordia is partnering with Blue

Dragon for their lunch program. For

every 50,000 VND students donate, they

will color a paper fruit to add to our large

basket. Some students had a chance to

help create the basket during art time.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU(AND OTHER MS/HS SPIRIT WEEK SHENANIGANS!)

Concordia Spirit Week for Middle & High School students

is meant to be celebration of community splashed with a

bit humor and creativity. Students chose a different theme

every day for a week to dress up and have a little fun.

This year, students (and teachers!) dressed up for Pajama Day,

Cartoon Character Day, Inanimate Object Day, Twin Day (or

triplets, quadruplets, etc.), and Movie/TV Show Day. Take a look

at the great ideas they came up with.

BOOK WEEKBOOK CHARACTER PARADE AND MORE!

The love of reading runs deep at Concordia and really has a

chance to come out during our annual BOOK WEEK for the

elementary students. Classes get visits from mystery readers,

older students visit the younger ages to read to them, and the all

sorts of other great reading initiatives happen throughout the

week. To really show off how exciting this week can be, students

and teachers dress up as their favorite book characters and join

the BOOK CHARACTER PARADE where the whole school and

parents are invited to attend. Parents were then asked to stay for

a special coffee morning where they could sit and read with their

children.

POETRY PICNICGRADE 6 AND 7 GETS LYRICAL

Concordia students made a special trip to Hanoi’s Botanical Gardens to enjoy a “Poetry Picnic.” The purpose of which was to expose the students to some of the natural beauty that can be found here in Hanoi and to be inspired as they continue to read and write poetry for their current Language Arts poetry unit.

This year the 6th grade theme for the poetry unit was Environmental Responsibility and Awareness. The idea for this theme stems for one of our school ESLR’s; Becoming Active Global Citizens, specifically being environmentally responsible. The students had expressed a desire to better understand what it means to be environmentally responsible and it also helped to foster a deeper connection to and responsibility for, the natural world.

To help celebrate Earth Day, the students decided that the picnic lunch should be “Garbage-less” lunch to show their awareness for the amount of trash we so easily create and discard every day. After a peaceful picnic, students went on to share and discuss some of their own poetry they had written, followed by a nature walk, in which they observed the natural world with their five senses. Students then took these observations and used the end of the afternoon to continue writing poetry in the peace and quiet of the Botanical Gardens. Before leaving the Botanical Gardens, students participated in a trash clean up around the park.

It was a unique and inspiration opportunity for the students to learn outside of the classroom walls about the natural world of

which we are a part.
