Cytology

Cell membrane.

Verónica Allue y Aurora Susín.

Definition:

Membrane that surrounds a cell and controls the movement of substances

 Composition:

Biological molecules, lipids and proteins.  Mechanisms of incorporation:• Exocytosis• Endocytosis• Tubular structures• Exchange between lipids and aqueous phases.

Lipids:

 Amphipathic lipids:

• Phospholipids• Glycolipids• Cholesterols

Phospholipids

A major component of a cell membrane.

They have a carbohydrate attached. They provide energy.

Glycolipids

Cholesterol    Cholesterol is the principal sterol synthesized bye animals. Structural component.

Proteins

• Proteins in the membrane: integral and peripheral. • Transmembrane proteins.

Structure.

• Unit membrane model. 3-layed-structure.

• Fluid mosaic model.

               Two-dimensional liquid.

Function

•  Selective permeability  • Transport• Receive signals• Specialized junctions• Cell recognition• Cytoskeletal anchoraje

We hope you enjoyed it. Thank you for your attention.
