THANK YOUTo St. Mark’s Family,

The family of Herbert Wessel appreciated all of the support that we received during Herb’s health issues and death.

We have received so many ways of your caring for him and our family. The cards, phone call, the money gifts in his memory and the attendance at the memorial service.

Pastor Carr was a great support planning and performing at the service.

Words cannot express how much St. Mark’s has comforted us.

Blessings to all,Mary and Family

Church & Village: Partners in MinistryMay 2019

Celebrate Older Americans MonthMay is Older Americans Month - a time for older adults to take part in activities that promote wellness and social connection. Here are a couple of activities that Carroll Lutheran Village is hosting or partnering with during Older Americans Month:

Nearing Ninety – Book Talk and SigningCarroll Lutheran Village is partnered with the Carroll County Public Library and A Likely Story Bookstore to present bestselling author Judith Viorst on Wednesday, May 1 at 7pm at Carroll Community College. Viorst will talk about her just-released book “Nearing Ninety: And Other Comedies of Late Life.” She has written numerous works, including the beloved “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No good, Very Bad Day.” In “Nearing 90,” Viorst shares the complicated joys and everyday tribulations that await us at the age of 90, all with a large dose of humor and understanding. Tickets are $18 and include a copy of “Nearing 90.” Tickets are available at all branches of the Carroll County Public Library or online at library.carr.org/author.

Lifelong Learning – Try Out A ClassCarroll Lutheran Village offers a series of Lifelong Learning courses that are open to adults 60 and better in the community. Older Americans Month is a great time to try one out! Zentangle Art will be held on Wednesday, May 8 from 2pm-4pm in the Heuer Art Studio. The Zentangle Method is an easy, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful art by drawing structured patterns. The process helps you enjoy increased focus, creativity, self-confidence and an increased sense of well-being. Best of all, you’ll leave class with a finished project you can share with others! Cost is $35 per adult. Please register in advance through the Wellness Center at 443-605-1070. Additional lifelong learning opportunities are listed at www.clvillage.org/lifelong-learning.

Golf Tournament & Golf Raffle TicketsRegistration is open for the 22nd annual Carroll Lutheran Village Golf Tournament on Friday, June 7 at The Links at Gettysburg. Raffle tickets for three $500 prizes are also available at 3/$25. Winner will be drawn on Thursday, June 6 and need not be present to win. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Ministry of Caring in support of residents who have outlived their resources. Register online at www.clvillage.org/golf-tournament-2019.

Employees Recognized for LongevityCarroll Lutheran Village recognized 43 employees for their years of service on March 21. These employees achieved a combined 425 years of service through the end of 2018. Five 2018 retirees were also recognized at the event. All Village employees receive paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, free use of the fitness center and indoor pool, and are eligible for tuition reimbursement, employee scholarship programs and professional development opportunities, among other benefits. For a list of current opportunities and benefits and to apply visit www.clvillage.org/careers.
