FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK,
Los t Cars
A few years ago Bess and I took a twelve day vacation. We flew out of Chicago. After a wonderful time we returned to O'Hara airport. After we retrieved our luggage we searched frantically for the paper with our car location. We could not find it. Neither of us could remember which floor our car was parked on. We searched for an hour and by then I was convinced that it was stolen. We walked around floor after floor, by now the joy of our vacation vanished in our anguish. We finally found our lost car at the end of two hours of searching. What a relief. We have never forgotten this incident.
We just celebrated the mightiest birthday the world has ever known, the birth of our Savior and God, Jesus Christ. The birthday celebration on Christmas eve has led men who were lost to be found again. After years off wandering in the wilderness of unbelief and joylessness they finally discovered the joy they had not been able to find. As they sang those dynamic Christmas hymns and heard the beautiful music by the small orchestra and heard the Christmas Scriptures and message once again, they realized what had been missing in their path of nothingness. They realized that the Lord they had been ignoring all their lives was real after all. Joy returned and lifted their souls to new heights.
Gone is their ignorance of TRUTH, gone is their POINTLESS LIVES, gone is their UNBELIEF and gone is their FEAR OF DEATH. Yes, the Lord born in a stable changes lives. Those who were lost are now found. Somewhat like the joy Bess and I had when we finally found our car after wandering around O'Hara's parking lot for two hours, when the lost have found Jesus and take Him as their Lord and Savior, their will be joy that knows no bounds.
See you in church Sunday,
P.S. Bess and I thank the members of St. Mark's for the generous check and beautiful glass cross which now hangs in a window reflecting it's beauty. We also thank members for the many gifts left on the pastor's desk, most of which were left without any name.
Peace and power in His Name
Pastor John
