The year in between bull sales seems to get shorter and shorter. In December Stacey was very happy to have written her very last university exam. She still has much research information to gather and then write her paper to complete her master’s degree. She remains working part time for the Beef Cattle Research Council, a job she is extremely excited about. Last August Becky accepted a job with the Lethbridge College running the Green Certificate program. This is an awesome opportunity for senior school members to achieve extra credits in high school in agriculture programs, doing what they love to do. She has toured all of Southern Alberta meeting with some great young people with a love and passion for agriculture. In October we celebrated Grandma and Grandpa’s 55th wedding anniversary. We are honored to have them both remain a very active and vital part of our operation. Probably the greatest challenge in the cattle industry is that the dream you have today, you see the results in three years. During 2015 Showdown in Olds we purchased Red Wrights 135Z By Design 16C from Jim Wright. In October we attended the American National Red Angus Show in Billings and purchased half interest in HSCC Cowboy Logic 7B from Cody Kluser of John Day Oregon. Then during Farmfair in November we were happy to purchase Red McGowen Mabel 503C. A beautiful heifer with massive thickness and depth from the herd of Randy McGowen. So, we buy the animal in 2015, bred them in 2016 and see the results in 2017. This is not a game for anyone that cannot wait to open their gifts under the Christmas tree! This past year has been interesting, to say the least in the cattle industry. We saw some all time highs in the market, followed by some ups and downs, but overall a strong average. The people that have stayed in this business over the past years have done so because of their passion for the industry. The Angus name has become renowned for top quality beef because these people have put great emphasises on supreme genetics. It is our goal every year to produce a selection of bulls to accommodate every bull buyer’s wish list. Everything from the powerful performance bulls to the calving ease heifer bulls. Happy to have with us again this year, consignments of open heifers from Tom & Darla Machacek, Kast Ranching and DB Ranch. An added pen this year will be some red angus commercial first-calf heifer calf pairs from Ben Penner. The work is all done, the calf in on the ground, the results are there to see, a win win situation. The sale will be at the farm again in a heated facility. All bulls, heifers, and pairs will be on display beside the barn in straw-bedded pens. We welcome all visitors at any time before the sale and will be pleased to tour you through the pens and discuss all your bull and female purchasing needs. DELIVERY OPTIONSLeaving Bulls at the Farm: If you are not prepared to take your bull home at sale time, we are more than happy to keep them on feed free of charge up till May 1st. We highly recommend bulls be insured by the purchaser if remaining at the farm.Delivery of bulls: We provide free trucking for the bulls up to a 200 mile radius, beyond that we will work with you to have your bull delivered. Delivery of Heifers: Due to a very limited corral space we require the heifers to be removed as soon as possible.
