FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Dear Blessed Sacrament Families;
October began with a kick-off of the Fabulous Fall Festival and we did
not slow down one bit. Several classes had field trips during the month;
Kindergarten and First Grade went to ASU petting zoo and Fourth, Fifth
and Sixth went to ASU for the Mathemagician Show and Science Festival.
The weather was wonderful so many classes held lessons and labs outside;
the Third grade learned about and made Bubble Art while PreK scooped,
counted and studied pumpkins and their seeds. Red Ribbon Week this
year had a Be Healthy Focus; a St Bernard’s nurse taught First Aid for
Kids, the ATA Martial Arts gave fun lessons, we held a school-wide rosary
decade which glowed, guest speaker for Tobacco Prevention, and after Flu
Shots all students got healthy muffins.
This month, the Sixth Grade did their Saints presentations, the Poinsettias
order forms are already out (so if you want some, call Erika Brodell), sev-
eral students are cast in the FOA Nutcracker so 3rd and 5th grade classes
will attend a performance, the annual Grandparents Luncheon with deli-
cious food from Lazarri’s, and to close the month we will be hosting the
statue of Our Lady of Fatima (be sure to see the schedule below). Several
service projects are going on this month, so be on the lookout for how the
students are serving our community.
Remember to watch the weather. The month of November can be mild or
frigid; dry or wet. Last day to wear shorts will be December 1st. And re-
view the dress code policies.
Be sure to make plans to attend the Barnes & Noble BookFair on Satur-
day 3 December, shop at the Santa’s Secret Shoppe, and our annual
Christmas Program on Thursday 15 December. And do not forget the last
day before Christmas Break will be class parties with early out dismissal. I
pray for many blessings to each and every one of you this month.
Blessings, Mrs. Kelly Gabe

SATURDAY 3 DECEMBER
The mid-1930’s saw many changes and much growth for the church and school. The Altar Society began, the
new Parish Hall was built (and stood until May 2016), the Knights of Columbus sponsored a Boy Scout, Cub
Scout and Girl Scout groups, and the first scholarship was established to send our students to continue their
high school years at Holy Angels Academy or Subiaco Academy.
The Second World War occurred which affected our town and our parishioners. The longest serving pastor, Fr
Kordsmeier, was transferred. To commemorate his time, the statue of Sacred Heart of Jesus, was dedicated in
honor of his parents, and stands still today in our church garden.
The mid-1940’s, the custom of the Thanksgiving Bazaar resumed and continued until the end of the 1960’s, but
as we know it was picked up again in the 1980’s and continues today as our fabulous Fall Festival. The first visit
of Our Lady of Fatima Statue came to our church, and is scheduled again this month. Don’t miss it.
In 1952, the Rectory was completed, which today is the church offices. The school had a solid enrollment and
student organizations, but the building was 32 years in 1954 and in much need of repairs. The following school
year, the children were excited to return to their newly renovated and modernly updated school.
