Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

If God can come “down to earth” why can’t we imitate him and be “down to earth” with ourselves and with one another? The scriptures this week are urging us to stop relying on our own worldly standards and to follow God’s. Follow the example of Christ. Listen and heed the urg-ing of the Holy Spirit and turn away from sinful behaviors. It’s easy to read through this famil-iar Gospel about The Beati-tudes, but if we meditate on the words and listen with our heart, we will encounter a call to look deep within. When we take in-ventory of our hearts and peer into our “feelings” what can we

see? The joys, pains, happi-ness, struggles and sadness of our lives are nestled there and play a large role in how we live. How we speak to one another, how we spend our time, how we approach our sorrow, how we celebrate our happiness and how we select our friends are “heart conditions.”

St. Augustine of Hippo reminds us “…for You have made us for Yourself, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.” God created each of our hearts to love, to serve, to honor and to worship him. He longs for us to rest solely in him. He is inviting us to become rich by let-ting go of anything that prevents us from following him. Is it your marriage, your relationship with

your adult children, your job situation, your past behaviors, your reputation, your self-esteem, your anger? Have you identified what is keeping you from a deep connection with God? Each of us was formed in the womb by God and ordained with a specific purpose. He sees our purpose; not our problems and invites us to give him every single concern of our hearts. God saw how much we needed order and direction so he sent his Son down to Earth to walk beside us. Jesus is waiting for us to release whatever is weigh-ing on our hearts. He’s waiting for us to take his hand so that he may lead us to experience abundant rest.

Si Dios puede venir "a la tierra", ¿por qué no podemos imitarlo y estar "abajo a la tierra" con nosotros mismos y con los demás? Las Escrituras de esta semana nos están instando a dejar de confiar en nuestras propias normas mun-danas y a seguir las de Dios. Sigue el ejemplo de Cristo. Escucha y presta atención al impulso del Espíritu Santo y aléjate de las con-ductas pecaminosas. Es fácil leer este Evangelio familiar sobre las Bienaventuranzas, pero si medita-mos en las palabras y escuchamos con nuestro corazón, nos encon-traremos con un llamado a mirar profundamente. Cuando hacemos un inventario de nuestros cora-zones y observamos nuestros

"sentimientos", ¿qué podemos ver? Las alegrías, los dolores, la felici-dad, las luchas y la tristeza de nuestras vidas se encuentran allí y desempeñan un papel importante en la forma en que vivimos. Cómo nos hablamos, cómo pasamos nuestro tiempo, cómo nos acer-camos a nuestro dolor, cómo cele-bramos nuestra felicidad y cómo seleccionamos a nuestros amigos como “condiciones del corazón”. San Agustín de Hipona nos re-cuerda "... porque nos has hecho para ti, y nuestros corazones están inquietos hasta que descansan en ti". Dios creó cada uno de nuestros corazones para amar, servir, hon-rar y adorarlo a él. Él anhela que descansemos únicamente en él. Nos está invitando a hacernos ri-cos soltando cualquier cosa que nos impida seguirlo. ¿Es su matri-

monio, su relación con sus hijos adultos, su situación laboral, sus comportamientos pasados, su re-putación, su autoestima, su ira? ¿Has identificado lo que te impide tener una conexión profunda con Dios? Cada uno de nosotros fue formado en el vientre por Dios y ordenado con un propósito es-pecífico. Él ve nuestro propósito; No son nuestros problemas y nos invita a darle todas las preocupa-ciones de nuestros corazones. Dios vio cuánto necesitábamos or-den y dirección, así que envió a su Hijo a la Tierra para caminar a nuestro lado. Jesús está esper-ando que liberemos lo que pesa sobre nuestros corazones. năm 2019- C Nếu Thiên Chúa có thể “xuống thế gian” tại sao chúng ta không bắt chước Ngài và “sống thật” với chính mình và với người khác? Kinh thánh tuần này thúc giục chúng ta chấm dứt việc dựa vào tiêu chuẩn thế gian và nên theo tiểu chuẩn của Thiên Chúa. Hãy theo gương Đức Kitô. Hãy nghe và theo lời hướng dẫn của Chúa Thánh Thần và quay khỏi những thái độ tội lỗi. Thật là dễ dàng cho chúng ta đọc qua bài Phúc Âm quen thuộc về Phúc Thật Tám Mối, nhưng nếu chúng ta suy niệm những chữ viết và lắng nghe bằng con tin, chúng ta sẽ gặp được lời kêu gọi hãy nhìn sâu vào tâm khảm. Khi chúng ta kiểm điểm con tim và xét những ‘cảm tính” chúng

ta thấy gì? Những niềm vui, đau khổ, hạnh phúc, khó khăn, u sầu của cuộc sống cư trú ở đó và đóng một vai trò lớn trong cách chúng ta sống ra sao. Cách thức chúng ta đối thoại với người khác, cách chúng ta xử dụng thời giờ, cách chúng ta đối diện với sự buồn khổ, cách chúng ta tỏ bầy niềm vui và cách chúng ta chọn bạn bè là “những điều kiện trái tim.” Thánh Augustino thành Hippo nhắc nhở chúng ta “…vì Ngài đã tạo dựng chúng con cho Ngài, và trái tim của chúng con sẽ khôn nguôi cho tới khi chúng nghỉ yên trong Ngài.” Thiên Chúa tạo dựng trái tim ta để yêu, để phục vụ, để tôn vinh và để thờ lạy Ngài. Ngài mong đợi cho chúng ta yên nghỉ trong Ngài mà thôi. Ngài mời gọi chúng ta trở nên giàu có bằng cách từ bỏ mọi sự mà chúng ngăn cản chúng ta theo Ngài. Có phải là cuộc hôn

nhân của bạn, sự liên hệ của bạn với những người con đã lớn, hoàn cảnh công ăn việc làm, những hành vi của quá khứ, danh dự của bạn, lòng tự tin, hay sự giận dữ? Bạn đã xác định điều gì ngăn cản bạn khỏi một sự liên hệ sâu sa với Thiên Chúa? Mỗi người chúng ta được tạo dựng trong cung lòng bởi Thiên Chúa và được trao ban cho một mục đích đặc biệt. Ngài nhìn thấy cùng đích đời ta, chứ không phải sự khó khăn của ta và mời chúng ta hãy phó thác cho ngài từng ưu tư của tâm trí ta. Thiên Chúa thấy chúng ta cần trật tự và chiều hướng nên Ngài sai Con của Ngài xuống thế để đi bên đời ta. Chúa Giêsu đang đợi chúng ta loại bỏ bất cứ điều gì đang đè nặng trái tim ta. Ngài chờ đợi chúng ta nắm lấy tay Ngài để Ngài có thể hướng dẫn chúng ta vào giấc nghỉ ngơi sung mãn.

Ghi danh vào giáo xứ anh chị em “ăn cây nào rào cây đấy” qua việc đóng góp bằng phong thư tất cả những chương trình, công tác, tu bổ, phát triển, hay những đóng góp hàng tuần cho giáo xứ và hàng năm (PSA-Quĩ Mục Vụ) cho đức giám mục. Bù lại, các linh mục có bổn phận phục vụ anh chị em mỗi khi gia đình có những biến cố vui buồn như ma chay, cưới hỏi, rửa tội, hay khi cần giấy giới thiệu lập gia đình tại xứ đạo khác, và ngay cả khi về Việt Nam cưới xin.

Khi ghi danh, mỗi gia đình sẽ nhận một số mã viết trên phong bì để bỏ giỏ mỗi khi đi lễ. Xin đề nghị chúng ta dâng Chúa mỗi tuần nếu không được 10% số tiền lương hàng tuần của mình, thì ít ra cũng bỏ vào phong bì $10 trở lên khi chúng ta đi tham dự Thánh Lễ. Số tiền này sẽ được trừ thuế khi nhà thờ gởi giấy thuế cho chúng ta vào tháng Hai.

Trong tuần qua, một số gia đình đã nhận được giấy báo cáo tài chánh gửi về nhà để anh chị em có thể dùng cho việc khai thuế. Nếu gia đình nào chưa nhận được, xin gọi điện cho văn phòng gặp chị Trung để nhận giấy báo cáo tài chánh khai thuế. Rất ít gia đình người Việt Nam đã xử dụng phong thư khi bỏ tiền vào nhà thờ. Xin anh chị em vui lòng xử dụng phong thư.

PSA- Quĩ Mục Vụ năm nay sắp trở về. Tuần 17 tháng Hai LM Chánh Xứ sẽ đến với các Thánh Lễ kêu gọi anh chị em đóng góp ngay tại nhà thờ; và tuần 24 tháng Hai Lm chủ tế xin anh chị em nhớ bổn phận PSA- Quĩ Mục Vụ của mình và đóng góp cho giáo xứ và giáo phận. Xin dùng số mã của phong thư nhà xứ gửi về để đóng tiền Quĩ Mục Vụ.

Chợ nhỏ tuần này thu được $2877.00 Xin anh chị em tiếp tục ủng hộ chợ nhỏ! Khi có quà muốn tặng chợ nhỏ hay muốn liên lạc, xin vui lòng gọi Chị Chi tại số phôn 714-622-0393. Đặc biệt hơn nữa, xin cám ơn AC Phan Xuân đã chuộc gần 30 tượng Mẹ La Vang còn lại làm quà cho người thân. Qua nghĩa cử này anh chị đã giúp cộng đoàn, và tôn vinh Đức Mẹ, và giúp cho việc xây dựng Linh Đài được mau hoàn thành. Xin anh chị em vui lòng kết thúc lời hứa với Đức Mẹ khi hoàn cảnh tài chánh có thể. Xin Mẹ phù hộ cho anh chị em!

Để phục vụ giáo xứ trong lãnh vực Thánh Nhạc hữu hiệu, giáo xứ thiết lập Ca Đoàn Thánh Phêrô với mục đích ca đoàn này sẽ hát các lễ bằng ba ngôn ngữ trong năm; đồng thời đặc trách những lễ Vọng Phục Sinh và Vọng Giáng Sinh. Ca Đoàn Thánh Phêrô chào đón những ca viên từ mọi ca đoàn sẵn có trong giáo xứ, cũng như kêu gọi những anh chị em chưa ghi danh ca đoàn nào muốn tham dự. Xin liên lạc với A.
