The Drawing Room at Flemings Mayfair Hotel

echoes elegance and grace in homage to the hotel’s

18th century origins.

The refined Indian-inspired tea room welcomes guests and

visitors to enjoy light refreshments and beverages all day or to

imbibe wine and champagne at its small bar. The Drawing Room

is also a perfect setting for a genteel afternoon tea. Working in

partnership with The East India Tea Company, guests may choose

from a selection of different traditional and exotic teas including a

signature Flemings blend.

The room’s heritage is complemented by exquisite hand-painted

wall panels by famous de Gournay depicting early views of India

and ‘The Tree of Life’ by upcoming intuitive painter Eileen

Schaer. Bookcases on either side of the fireplace display a

fascinating collection of art books from Assouline for guests to

enjoy and peruse.

Granted a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in

1600, The East India Company was founded to

explore the mysteries of the East.

It discovered exotic goods, established the cities of Singapore,

Hong Kong and Mumbai, impacting customs, tastes and ways of

thinking - influencing the very fabric of our lives today.

The first teas brought by the Company arrived in London in the

1660’s. In 1664, the Directors presented it as a gift to King

Charles II and his Queen, Catherine of Braganza, taking the court

and fashionable society by storm.

Today, we are proud to offer the very best of the best in tea - to

delight, intrigue, inspire, surprise and refresh –

authentic Earl Greys and muscatel Darjeelings, Spicy Chai and

Floral Jasmines, along with herbal infusions, green teas,

white teas and more.

It includes a base of robust Assam tea recalling the year 1851

when the Flemings Mayfair Hotel was founded - it was around

this time that tea from the Assam region in India was growing in

popularity amongst British society.

The East India Company was instrumental in introducing Assam

tea to the West and by the turn of the century Assam became the

leading tea producing region in the world.

The Flemings Breakfast Blend

The best breakfast teas balance aroma, colour and body in equal measure. It combines

teas selected from the misty hills of Ceylon, the lush estates of Assam and the Kenyan

Highlands. Robust and deep while retaining character, a perfect to start the day.

Speciality Single Estate Black Tea Darjeeling First Flush

From the Himalayan foothills. This first harvest tea of the spring captures muscatel

characteristics light, bright, floral and delicate with earthy, grassy notes. This particular

First Flush is one of the finest teas from the region - a connoisseur’s delight.

Flavoured Black Tea The Staunton Earl Grey

Using an authentic recipe, first described by The East India Company officer George

Staunton in the 1700’s in China, this tea blends the finest Neroli and Bergamot oils to

create a distinct and different Earl Grey. With an exceptional aroma and flavour profile

that is light, sweet, floral and delicate, this tea produces a perfect cup for anytime of the

day. Generally enjoyed black, or with a spot of milk.

Lapsang Souchon

A famously smoky tea, deep with aroma and flavour. This black tea from the Fujian

province of China is dried over smoking pine fire, imparting a sweet, rich smoky

flavour to the tea.

Bombay Chai

A warming blend of fine black tea with natural Cinnamon, Cloves, Pepper and

Cardamom. Charles II licensed the islands of ‘Bombaia’ to The East India, creating one

of the most multi-cultural cities in the world. This Chai, based on a family recipe,

reflects this vibrancy.

Green Tea Dragonwell Lung Ching

From the Chinese village of Dragonwell (Lung Chingin local parlance), this tea has a

distinguished broad and flat shape, a result of being laboriously hand-dried in a wok. On

brewing, this tea produces a refreshingly smooth, sweet and delicate character, amongst

the very best of Chinese teas.

Flavoured Green Tea Jasmine Pearls

Jasmine pearls are hand made from handpicked lu-cha green tea leaves. The leaves are

scented with Jasmine Blossoms before being hand rolled into little silver pearls that

unfold to release a delicate and soothing jasmine scent. In China this tea is said to be

excellent for the complexion as well as aiding digestion and slowing the aging process.

Oolong Tea Lis-han Oolong

Taiwan’s most celebrated high-grown oolong teas. Its buttery, almost creamy character

makes it an extremely refreshing and satisfying tea to enjoy at any time of day.

White Tea Nepal Spring White

White peony leaves are carefully picked during the spring when sunshine is at its best

and the tea fields of Nepal’s Himalayan foothills shine like green silver. These leaves,

natural partially dried, emit an extraordinary sweet grassy vegetal aroma.

Caffeine Free Infusions

Nile Chamomile Our Chamomile tea comes from Egypt, where it has a history going back to the

Pharaohs, often referred to as Roman Chamomile as it was found growing in the

Coliseum. Chamomile has always been used for its medicinal properties.

Whole Rosebuds

Light and fragrant with a sweet rose aroma, this is a delicate, light drink that’s

completely caffeine free

English Peppermint

Pure peppermint made using Black Mitcham leaves sourced from Kent. Peppermint leaves are

traditionally valued for their digestive and calming qualities.

Fresh Mint Tea Prepared with Fresh Mint leaves and served hot. Aromatic, sweet and refreshing, this

tea contains several key vitamins and minerals needed for good health.
