The April 15 program features two pianists recorded during last year’s Cherry Blossom Festival at the National Gallery of Art: Robert Henry and Yoshikazu Nagai, who perform works by Prokofi ev, Ravel, Scarlatti, Liszt and Chopin — including his “Heroic” Polonaise.

On the April 22 broadcast, don’t miss French guitar-ist Roland Dyens in one of his signature, improvisatory recitals, presented by the John E. Marlow Guitar series at Westmoreland Congregational Church in Bethesda, Maryland. Dyens is a celebrated composer for the Guitar Foundation of America (GFA).

Front Row Washington is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Just outside the Beltway you’ll fi nd the Barns at Wolf Trap, an intimate, acoustically superb concert space that is home to The Discovery Series. Starting April 6, Classical WETA 90.9 FM presents highlights from the series’ chamber music recitals on the hour-long broadcasts Center Stage from Wolf Trap, airing Saturday nights at 9 p.m. for 13 weeks through the end of June. The series features world-class contemporary artists, including violinist Rachel Barton Pine, pianist Joyce Yang, the Ahn Trio, the East Coast Chamber Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet. Each week’s program offers a mix of performances as well as an “Off the Beaten Track” selection of new music, all engagingly presented by hosts Rich Klein-feldt and Bill McGlaughlin. The concerts were recorded at the Barns of Wolf Trap by Classical WETA’s Bruce Cain.

Programs this month include performances of works by — among other composers — Barber and Schumann (April 6); Dvorák, Ravel, Auerbach and Richard Strauss (April 13); Schoenberg and Mahler (April 20); and Beethoven and Shostokovich (April 27).
