Dear colleagues, You are welcome to Divisional Railway Hospital, Varanasi, the biggest Divisional Hospital of North Eastern Railway, Gorakhpur. Divisional Railway Hospital, Varanasi is committed to provide quality preventive, promotive and curative health services to 12613 Railway employees and their dependants, 3222 Retired Railway employees registered under RELHS, coming to Divisional Railway Hospital and health units. Strive hard to provide high quality secondary level services in Divisional Hospital, Varanasi and primary care services in different health units. LOCATION:- Divisional Hospital, Varanasi is located at the eastern side of Lahartara over bridge. It is nearly one Kilometer from Varanasi Cantt Railway station. Main entrance is on Grant Trunk road. NUMBER OF BEDS, DOCTORS & PARA MEDICAL STAFF ETC.

• The Hospital has 166 beds (including newly constructed Emergency and ICU.) • There are 18 doctors including House Officers and about 80 para medical staff.

• There are two Visiting Specialists in ENT and Psychiatry who renders there services

two days in a week from 15.00 to 17.00 hrs on nominated days.

• Honorary Consultants: A Panel of prominent specialists from various fields including Lapro surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Neuro surgery, Neurology and Cardiology exists in the hospital. Specialists are called for consultation on case-to-case basis.

• Ambulance services are available round the clock in the Divisional Hospital, Varanasi.

One ARME Van scale –I (Meter gauge) is also stabled at Chhapra. In addition, there are Five ARME- Scale-II being maintained at Madhosingh, Aunrihar Jn, Ballia, Siwan and Bhatni. Augmented First aid boxes are available at Chhapra Jn, Siwan, Ballia, Deoria Sadar and Manduadih. First Aid boxes are available with the guard of each train and ASM's office of all Railway stations.

and managed by Duty Officer, who deal with any administrative problem, provide assistance and listen to grievances with regard to patient care.

• Location: Ground Floor, easily accessible from Lahartara over bridge, G.T. Road.

• These services are available 24 hour a day, through out the year.

• Working Railway employees, their dependants and Retired Railway employees registered under RELHS can seek consultation/treatment in the Casualty.

• If Doctors decide that patient needs urgent medical intervention, he will be registered at the casualty registration counter, free of charge and proper medical care will be provided promptly.

• Casualty has dedicated team of Doctors (Casualty Medical Officer (i.e. Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Ophthalmologist and House Officers), Nurses and other Para-medical staves to provide urgent medical services.

• Endeavour is made to provide medical care including investigation and treatment at the earliest possible time. However, in view of extreme workload in casualty (more than 50 consultations per day) those cases that are not so urgent may have to wait for some time.

• The treating doctors will call any specialist who is available on call for urgent consultation as & when required.

• In critical cases, treatment/management gets priority by referring the case to Super speciality centre like Heritage Hospital Ltd., Varanasi and other Government/recognized hospital.

• All urgent investigations like Blood Biochemistry, Urine, ECG, X-ray are available for casualty patients round the clock. However, CT scan and MRI investigations have been outsourced by recognized laboratory.

• All medicines and surgical items available in the hospital are provided free of cost.

• Facilities like Wheel chairs and patient trolleys are available at the entrance of casualty.

• There may be occasions when our services will not be up to patient's expectations. • Please do not hesitate to register your complaints. It will only help as serve your better. • Beneficiaries may lodge their complaints to the Duty Officer in Control room or may drop

their complaints in the COMPLAINTS BOX available near OPD dispensary. Every complaint will be duly acknowledged and sincere attempt will be made to solve problem.

• Location: - OPD services are situated in front part of hospital adjacent to Emergency ward in ' Specialist Clinic' in room No. 27, 28, 29 & 30.

week.

Morning 09.00 to 13.00 hrs, Evening 15.00 to 17.00 hrs

• Railway beneficiaries should get him registered at the Registration counter on production

of valid Railway Medical Identity card. • Patients are seen on first come first serve basis and medicines are prescribed according

to need. However, out of turn consultation may be provided in case of emergency. • For consultation in Speciality and Super-speciality clinics, patient needs to have referral

from general OPD. Following recognized centres provide these services –

• Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi • Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow • Southern Railway Head-quarters Hospital, Perambur, Chennai • Batra Hospital, New Delhi • Heart & Lung Institute, New Delhi • Heritage Hospital Ltd., Varanasi • Cancer Research Institute, Varanasi.

• After OPD consultation, the treating doctor will fill up the requisition form for various

investigations and direct/guide to the concerned laboratory. • Sample collection centre for Blood, Urine, & Stool etc- Room No. 6, Cancer Research

Institute, Varanasi from 09.00 to 11.00 hrs. • Certain investigations/tests like MRI, CT Scan and T3 T4 TSH etc have been outsourced

from private agency on bill basis. Patients need not to make payment on this account. • Many facilities are provided at OPD level e.g. ECG, Plaster, Injections, Contraception,

MTP, Minor surgical intervention and Physiotherapy etc. • Medical examination and Medical fitness and other such facilities are issued on routine

basis. • The decision to admit a patient rests with the treating doctor in the general ward.

However, cabin facility may be given on recommendation of treating doctor. • Wheel chairs, patient trolleys etc are available in the Emergency ward. • OPD is having waiting hall, drinking water and toilets etc. • Vehicle may be parked in the hospital premises.

• Medical department, Varanasi Division looks after the sanitation at 16 colonies and 14 stations in the Division at Manduadih, Varanasi city, Allahabad city, Deoria Sadar, Ballia, Mau Jn., Siwan, Ghazipur city, Salempur, Bhatni, Azamgarh, Chhapra and Chhapra Kachehary( Colony), Mairwa, Belthara Road and Varanasi (colony). Mechanized sanitation equipments are available at Chhapra, Siwan, Deoria Sadar, Mau Jn and Varanasi city.

• Frequent quality check of food (departmental Quality control), and water (Bacteriological and chlorination) are done by the department to ensure hygiene food and water on the station premises and Railway colonies.

• Please do not argue with the Registration personnel, show your Medical Identity card, and help maintain the order and peace inside the hospital premises.

• Please follow the rules and regulations of the hospital while inside the hospital campus. • Please do not cause inconvenience to other patients by crowding or making noise

unnecessarily. • Please help in keeping the hospital and its surroundings neat & clean. • Beware of Touts and unauthorized persons. Please do not indulge in any money

transactions. • Please provide useful feedback and constructive suggestions. These may be addressed

to the In-charge of the hospital.

• Regular CME programmes are organized to upgrade knowledge of Medical officers • Health checkup camps are organized at different way side stations on regular basis. • Public awareness programmes are organized to keep people aware about disease like

HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Cancer, etc.
