What is addiction?

• Addiction can be defined as the progressive abuse of something that is repetitive and difficult or impossible to control, and compulsive behavior.

Drug Addictions• There are several reasons that people turn to drugs.

Such reasons are: anger, influence from friends/family

• poor self-image

• unaware of the effects

• guilt

• escape from circumstances

• boredom or curiosity • • bad influences

Signs and Symptoms of Drug Addiction

• Feeling that you need the drug regularly and, in some cases, many times a day

• Failing repeatedly in your attempts to stop using the drug

• Doing things to obtain the drug that you normally wouldn't do, such as stealing

• Feeling that you need the drug to deal with your problems

Prevention

• Set a good example. Don't abuse addictive drugs. Set the example for your siblings, kids, and friends
