President & Vice President Reports

Hey all, Just got in from Ft Lauderdale, state mtg hosted by South East. Great ride, but did get wet - & great hotel. So here is something to think about: the state is working on a group cruise, so stay tuned & once we get info on the “gofundme’ account, info will be sent out. Hope that everyone,

everyone,-- will be able to donate. With the closing of so many chapters in the last few yrs & with major events not being held anymore, ABATE of FL, Inc is broke, so now, we can all do our part. If you believe in the case then donate. I want to thank you for attending mtgs, we have an average of 60 people come & I think that is just awesome. If you hear of an open house, or anything legislative related, call Joyce, let her know. We need to get out there & let these people know who we are. ‘Ride Safe, Ride Free’, Griz

A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido, has cheated him out of $10,000,000.00. His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing so he would not have to testify in court. When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about his missing $10 million, he takes along his lawyer who knows sign language. The Godfather tells the lawyer, "Ask him where the money is!" The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido , Where's the money? Guido signs back, "I don't know what you are talking about." The lawyer tells the Godfather, "He says he doesn't know what you're talking about." The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it to Guido's head and says, "Ask him again or I'll kill him!" The lawyer signs to Guido , "He'll kill you if you don't tell him." Guido trembles and signs, "OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno s house. The Godfather asks the lawyer, “What did he say?" The lawyer replies, "He says screw you, you don't have the guts to pull the trigger."

----HEPATITIS A OUTBREAK 2019 TALLAHASSEE --- The FL Dept of Health posted a report that showed the state has had 1,978 reported cases of hepatitis A this year. An outbreak of the virus, which can cause liver damage, started in 2018 & has exploded in parts of the state, such as in the Tampa Bay region & areas of Central FL. Other parts of the state, such as rural counties across N Florida, have seen few cases. Nu of cases reported Pasco: 355 Pinellas: 323 Volusia: 174 Orange: 140 Hillsborough: 114 Marion: 108 Lake: 91 Hernando: 90 Manatee: 82 Brevard: 62 Palm Bch: 40 Lee: 38 Seminole: 34 Martin: 32 Sarasota: 31 Sumter: 27 Citrus: 25 Miami-Dade: 25 Polk: 23 Osceola: 24 ---- FL will continue growing by more than 300,000 people a year & will top 22 million residents in 2022, according to a report posted by state economists. The Demographic Estimating Conference updated population forecasts through April 1, 2024 & showed steady growth during the multi-year period. “Between April 1, 2018 & April 1, 2024, population growth is expected to average 330,605 net new residents per year (906 per day), representing a compound growth rate of 1.53% over this 6 yr time horizon,” an executive summary of the report said. “These increases are analogous to adding a city slightly larger than Orl every yr.” The report estimated the population on April 1, 2018, at 20.84 million, with it increasing to 21.2 million on April 1, 2019. It is forecast to hit 22.2 million as of April 1, 2022 & be at 22.8 million on April 1, 2024. The population increases will primarily stem from “net migration” as people move into the state, rather than births, which are largely offset by deaths. The report noted that the state forecasts are lower than population predictions by the U.S. Census Bureau, pointing to different methodologies in the way estimates are reached. ---One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing & decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, & reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman & says, "Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?" "Reading a book," she replies, (thinking, "Isn't that obvious?") "You're in a Restricted Fishing Area," he informs her. "I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading." "Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in & write you up." "If you do that, I'll have to charge you with sexual assault," says the woman. "But I haven't even touched you," says the game warden. "That's true, but you have all the right equipment. For all I know you could start at any moment." "Have a nice day ma'am," & he left. --
