    Encouraging and equipping your youthwork

Making pots from clay is a mucky business. And, if I remember rightly, flipping tricky too! Thank goodness that we are in expert hands... God is a master-craftsman and when it comes to moulding our characters, He is also patient in his art.

I used to think that self-analysis was indulgent and that to spend time considering matters of self-identity was to be guilty of selfish ambition or vain conceit (Phil 2:3). But in the last 18 months I have come to understand that, by working out who God made me to be, I am encouraged to be truly alive as I fully use the gifts and skills that He gave me.

I am so thankful that I have been on that journey, (not least because it has led me to work with the267project!) because I can now see how essential it is that we provide chances for kids to ask the big questions about who they are and who God has made them to be. Identity is a huge topic and at 267 we have been seeing young people peel away negative labels that have been stuck on them, as they realise something of Gods original design for their life.

Youthwork may, at times, be mucky work but lets roll up our sleeves and get stuck in!

are back to bless the people of Harpenden with...

  • Give thanks for some great times chatting with youth leaders from High Street Methodist Church Harpenden. I have really enjoyed working more closely with the church since moving our offices there and pray that God will continue to bless both ministries

Continued encouragement of working with 'team 267' which includes Tracy, Claire and Penny

We had a great time on our trustees away day. The day gave us time to look at the growth of the ministry and what additional resources we need in the future, particularly new people/skills we would like involved as we continue to grow

The Youth and Children's Ministry Conference at the end of March was a great success with over 40 leaders gathering. We had some excellent feedback and some real encouragement regarding the topics of the seminars. Thank you

'More?' continues to be a great place to have conversations about many things from the weighty to the trivial!

FUEL TEAM = exciting, awesome and inspiring

Our local golf day last week raised around 1100 for the project

St Albans Cathedral donated us 1000

United Church Wheathampstead have donated us some free storage for our resources, thank you so much as it will mean we save 140 a month that we previously paid for storage

Our 11-14's weekend at the end of April saw 36 young people and 16 leaders descend on Buckinghamshire. In contrast to last year we had great weather and spent loads of time outside. The meetings inside were also full of action, life and challenge with over half our young people

moving significantly forward in their faith. Thank you also to Sarah Hockley; our amazing, relevant and exciting speaker for the weekend. God is so good

Pray for all the churches that Mike is spending additional time with to help them think through the bigger picture of their youth and children's ministry. Pray for wisdom and insight for Mike

Please pray for us as we move many of our resources to some new (free!) storage in Wheathampstead. Pray for good weather and safety and we thank God for this generous donation by United Church

Mike is preaching and sharing about the project at 2 churches over the next month. Markyate Baptist Church on 17th May and St Luke's St Albans on 7th June. Pray for inspiration as he prepares and offers encouragement for the church through his visit

Our 'More?' Summer 'exam-busting' Cafes begin on 1st June. Pray for fun, space to relax and friendships grown

We have a 'City Golf Day' coming up which is being attended by almost 100 workers from the London area. This is being organised and hosted by one of our key supporters. Pray for the day as we play golf, share about the project and hopefully inspire some new supporters to help the growth of this ministry

Pray for the trustees as they meet and for discernment about seeking new trustees

On Saturday 27th June we are running our next 'Love Harpenden' event. Pray for all the plans and preparations, for good weather and for the community of Harpenden to be encouraged and blessed. Pray also that the Harpenden Churches will be encouraged through this event

Pray for Mike, Claire and Tracy as they work together on the ministry of the267project. We also thank God for trustee Penny who is giving 1 day a week to support us all

Pray for Mike as he takes some time out to write a book!
