25 April Edition 8 Miss Print The Newspaper for Miss West Lothian entrants T he big fundraiser fancy dress night for the KISS (Keep It Safe and Sound) campaign takes place at the Almondvale Suite, Livingston Football Club, from 7.30pm - midnight on Friday 13 May.. And it’s sure to be your lucky night. For the legendary DJ Alan Scott, known as the ‘Master of Spin’ will be hosting the event. Admission is just £3, payable at the door, or £3.50 if you don’t come in fancy dress. Try and come dressed as something that rep- resents the first initial of your first name. And remember to bring all your friends so we can raise as much as possible for KISS . . . DJ Alan Scott the Master of Spin will host the night Fairtrade fashion show The Miss West Lothian event will shortly be taking part in our first Fairtrade fashion show. Fair Tradewinds, based in Linlithgow, is shortly moving to new premises, across the road from their existing base. And they will be stocking a range of fashionable Fairtrade clothes in the brand new shop. We are delighted to assist with the shop’s expansion by hold- ing a fashion show that will demonstrate the vast range. n The fundraising Zumbathon for the KISS campaign will take place at Club Earth in June. n Miss West Lothian, Metja Bowes, will fire the starting gun at the first ever Armadale 5k on Sunday, 1 May. n Girls are wanted for pro- motional work at the launch of a new mountain bike facil- ity at Kingsfield Golf Range. n Miss West Lothian, Metja Bowes, will perform the opening ceremony at the launch of the new nature trail in Dedridge on Saturday 21 May. n Our first ‘BEAUT’ camp will take place after the up- coming school exams. T he Miss West Lothian campaign to make the streets of West Lothian safer for women has taken a giant leap forward. For an Edinburgh company IMMS (Integrated Monitoring and Maintenance Services) has donated 100 personal safety alarms to the girls’ KISS (Keep It Safe and Sound Campaign). And the company has also provided the girls with another 400 alarms at cost price, which will be paid for by their fundraising The girls’ launched the campaign after being inspired by a personal safety talk given by a police officer during the launch of Miss West Lothian 2012. The personal safety alarms will be distributed via local nightclubs, community centres and pensioner groups. Co-organiser of the Miss West Lothian event, Claire Molloy, said: “West Lothian is a safe place to live but there has been a number of incidents recently involving attacks on young women. “Our alarms are available to women of any age in West Lothian, who might feel vulnerable. For example, women living alone, elderly women, women walking to work or women going for a late night out.” Some Miss West Lothian contestants travelled through to South Queensferry in a limousine, courtesy of AK Limos, to pick up 500 alarms from IMMS company secretary Marion Carlin and Alex Gunn, IMMS company secretarial assistant.
