INSTRUCTIONSTOAUTHORS 1. Delegates are invited to present scientific work as oral or poster presentation. �. All presenters of free papers must be registered delegates of the congress. Abstracts will not be accepted without payment of

registration fees. �. Abstracts will only be considered when submitted on the official Abstract Submission Form, as they will be reproduced in this or

a reduced format in the proceedings. Additional Abstract Submission Forms can be obtained from the secretariat. 4. The abstract should not contain work that has been previously published or presented elsewhere. 5. Authors are advised to read the Guidelines to Authors before filling in the Abstract Submission Form. 6. Authors should send one original and � clear copies of completed Abstract Submission Forms. �. Please send the completed Abstract Submission Form to the secretariat before 31st January 2007. E-mail submissions of

abstracts are encouraged and can be sent to Sister Alice Ho Man Mooi ([email protected]). 8. Authors will be notified of the acceptance/rejection of their abstracts by the Scientific Committee. 9. No limit is imposed on the number of abstracts submitted by individuals. 10. Only work done in Malaysia is eligible for the PSM Investigator Award, but abstract submission for work done locally and overseas

is encouraged for oral and poster presentation.

PSMINVESTIGATORAWARDFor oral presentations, three awards will be presented in each category : Neonatal Nursing / Midwifery, Obstetrics and Neonatology. Three awards will also be presented for the poster category : Neonatal Nursing / Midwifery, Obstetrics and Neonatology. First prize will consist of a Certificate and RM500. Second and Third prizes will each consist of a Certificate and free registration for the following year’s PSM Congress. These will be presented during the Congress Banquet and may be published in the PSM Newsletter.Eligibility: The presenting author must be a member of the PSM.Pleaseindicateontheformwhetheryouwishtobeconsideredforthisaward.Selection: Eligible abstracts will be shortlisted by the Scientific Committee. The panel of judges who are to be appointed by the Scientific Committee will consist of invited speakers and their decision will be final. No awards will be made if there are less than � papers in any

category.

GUIDELINESTOAUTHORS 1. The abstract must be typed into the box provided. Avoid smudging, alterations, erasures and strike-overs. �. The abstract should not consist of more than �50 words, use type size 10 (Arial or equivalent) �. Use a clear, single-spaced, black typeface from a laser printer or typewriter. (If not through email submission) 4. Submissions must be in English. 5. The title should be in CAPITAL LETTERS, followed by a blank row. 6. State the names of authors and underline the name of the author presenting the paper. �. State the department / hospital / institution at which the work was carried out. 8. Start with a statement of the main purpose of the study, preferably in one sentence. 9. A statement of the methods used should follow. 10. A summary of the results should be presented in an easily comprehensible manner to support the conclusions. It is not adequate

to state “the results will be discussed”. 11. Conclusions should be precisely stated. 1�. Do not include graphs, tables and references. 1�. Poorly presented abstracts reduce their chance of acceptance and accepted abstracts that are unsuitable for reproduction will

only have their title printed in the abstract book.

ORALPRESENTATION 1. The scheduled time for each presentation will be 10 minutes, followed by a � minutes discussion period. �. Projection will be made via a standard LCD projector. If an OHP or slide projector is required, prior request must be made. �. Slides must be handed to the technicians in the Slide Preview Room at least � hours before the scheduled sessions.

POSTERPRESENTATION 1. Posters must be mounted on the assigned board on ��nd March �00�. �. The poster board is 1.0m (width) X 1.4m (length). �. The top of your poster should have the title and authors. The lettering for this section should not be less than 50mm high. Other

major headings should be in lettering at least �0mm high, minor letterings should be at least 5mm high. 4. Authors are required to be at the poster site for presentation and discussion during the poster presentation session. 5. The Organising Committee will not be responsible for posters which have not been dismounted by the end of the congress.
