12 Things I've learnt

Reading

“CHOOSE YOURSELF” by James Altucher

#1 Inner Beauty

You can’t be beautiful unless you get rid of the ugliness inside. People become crappy people not because of who they are, but because they are crapping inside of you. Stop letting that happen.

#2 No vs. Yes

Don’t Say Yes When You Want to Say No.

#3 Everyone is An Entrepreneur

The only skills you need to be an entrepreneur are the ability to fail, to have ideas, to sell those ideas, to execute on them, and to be persistent so even as you fail you learn and move onto the next adventure.

#4 Be A Beacon of Enhancement

Every day you wake up with that motive of enhancement. Enhance your family & friends, your colleagues, your clients, people who you don’t even know yet but you would like to know. Become a beacon of enhancement, and then when the night is gray, all of the boats will move toward you, bringing their bountiful riches.

#5 Grateful for in your life

Do this every day: wake up and think of five people you are grateful for in your life right now. Not people who you were grateful for in the past. And not people you hope to be grateful for in the future if they do what you want them to do. Five people RIGHT NOW.

#6 Be a Linker

INTRODUCE TWO PEOPLE. Every day you can think of at least two people to introduce to each other who will help each other. You don’t need to be in the middle and benefit this time. You’ll benefit next time. Even if it means giving up opportunities for yourself if you think someone else would be better for the job.

#7 Being Trusted

This is hard. You can’t force people to trust you. And trusting someone doesn't release oxytocin. But being trusted does. So live your life in such a way that more and more people will trust you.

#8 Zero Tasking

Sometimes it’s better to just be quiet, to not think of anything at all. A very successful, self made businessman once told me, “Never underestimate the power of a long, protracted silence.”

#9 Beauty of Silence

Out of silence comes the greatest creativity. Not when we are rushing and panicking.

#10 Secret Identity

Wake up every day and say to yourself, “I’m a superhero—what can I do today to save the world?” And there will be answers. And you’ll see opportunities. You’ll figure out how to fly where you are needed. How to lift the car, how to use your X ray vision to see solutions that nobody thought possible.

#11 Everyone Loves to Teach

Pretend everyone was sent to this planet to teach you. Famous people, dead people, your neighbors, your relatives, your coworkers. This will give you a strong feeling of humility. And guess what, you will learn from people, you will appreciate them more, and they will actually appreciate you more. Because everyone loves to teach.

#12 Save A Life

Wake up tomorrow and say, “I’m going to save at least one life today.” Even helping an old woman across the street counts. Even responding to an email and helping someone make an important decision saves a life. Even reaching out to a distant friend and asking, “How are you doing?” can save their life. You can save a life today. Don’t let the sun set without doing that. You are Superman.
